Having ... morean elaborate faux painted wooden case, painted to look like ostrich skin, with chinoisserie style flowers, inlaid with mother of pearl, and with ormulu appointments. The dial is white enamel with ormulu surround and the ormulu pendulum is very ornate. The clock has an 8-day movement and it is in good working order, made by Chaumont of Paris, signed on the movement. The only damage I can find is a boo-boo at the base on the back of the clock. It looks like someone put a sticky label there at one time and now the faux paint is marred. Please see photo) The clock is 20" high by 10" wide by 5 1/2" deep and guaranteed to be as described. Up for auction is a beautiful small French Japy Freres Crystal Regulator Mantel Shelf Clock. The 8 day time and strike movement is stamped with“Japy Freres ... moreMade in France” and strikes a coiled gong on the hour and half hour. Both mainsprings are holding and not broken. This clock features a heavy brass and beveled glass case which are in good condition with no noticeable damage except for a small dent on the center top of the clock. The porcelain dial is unmarked and is in good condition with one minor hairline crack. The clock's escapement functions properly when manually exercised. However, it will not run for more than a few seconds. The escapement works for a considerable time without the pendulum, so I think this is probably a beat adjustment, but this is only a guess. The chime side functions properly when manually turning the hands. This clock comes with a simulated mercury double vial pendulum and an antique key. The pendulum alone sells for about $70. The clock’s dimensions are 10” tall by 6” wide by 4.75" deep. This clock movement was purchased in a clock collector’s estate sale. Please check out all the photos for condition of this clock. Not working Sticker on back is a watch and clock service in Hilliard Ohio, HISTORY: Elias Ingraham(1805-1885) Elias, was born in Marlborough, Connecticut. He came to Bristol in 1828 to work for George Mitchell building clock cases. In 1830, Elias Ingraham, now a noted clock casemaker, began working for Chauncey and Lawson C. Ives. He made over five thousand clock cases for them over the next three years. As a group, Ingraham clocks, and especially the clocks made under a label bearing the Ingraham name up ... moreuntil 1885, refer to clocks made by several different companies.The firm of Brewster and Ingrahams clock company was formed in 1844 and operated until July 24, 1852. Antique Sessions Mantel Clock This is a great example of a Sessions 8-day Mantle Clock. It was made circa 1908. It is in GREAT condition. The clock has all of its original parts. Movement, case, rear door, etc. The movement works great! It has a signed"Sessions Clock Co" 8 day time and strike movement(see picture) which chimes on a bell once on the half-hour and on the hour it counts the hours with a very mellow tone on a cathedral gong. It has a solid mahogany wood case with colored inlayed wood design on the front faded by over 100 years, but still can be seen(see pictures) Its model name is the"Plymouth" The movement runs very well and keeps good time. The case is in very good condition. Very few blemishes at all. see picture) The mahogony case is made with a simple but beautiful classic design with a finish that has ... morea beautiful aged patina. All the screw holes in the back line up perfectly indicating all parts are original. Even the original back! The hands are also original! The cream tinted porcelain dial is signed Sessions and the original bezel is solid brass! The numbers and lettering are very crisp and not worn at all. Also. The dial is easy to read even from a distance. There are age hairline cracks in the porcelain that really looks antique. The original paper label is still on the inside of the back door. The back door is also original and fits nicely. The dial has a special place where you can set the time to slow and fast using the key– at the number 12(see picture) This way you don’t need to take the clock down off the mantle in order to make fine adjustments to the movement as to slow and fast. Complete with a Sessions pendulum(maybe original) and a double-ended key– one side to wind the clock and the other to adjust the speed. 1890s vintage E. Ingraham fancy ebony mantel clock. 8 day movement with hour count gong and bell for the half hour. Has ebony finish, cast feet, doorknockers on the sides that are missing their rings, columns with cherub angels resting on a foundation of green marbellized beams. Ornate brass face has good numerals; missing the outer ring and glass bezel. Case top needs refurb, balance of case could either be touched up and oiled/polished or refinished as well- quite presentable as is. Runs strong, has incorrect pendulum weight but seems to like it okay. Nice solid, tight clock that had never been abused, just left aside many years ago. I cannot precisely date this but I'm guessing it can be called"Antique" early or pre-1900) based on its look. The only identifying marks are the"8 Day" and"Made in U.S.A. on clock face. The key is present but it cannot wind up the clock. It will need some work to get up and running. I'm unclear about the feature above the 6 on the clock face. Here for your consideration we have a beautiful Golden Oak Seth Thomas Gingerbread Clock. The clock still runs and chimes beautifully. The endulum is most unusual with a Lion mask face. There are two keys that came with the clock that go with it now. The clock we believe has an Alarm. Is an 8 day, and is all original in its finish and equitment. The clock stands 24" tall by 4 3/4" front to back, and 15 1/2" wide. The door has the etched gold motif and is also in excellent condition. The face is marked with the Seth Thomas mark on the bottom. This is an antique Sessions mantel tambour clock. It measures 9.5" wide by 5" high. The dial is about 2.5" diameter. It is an 8-day windup clock(not electric) As can be seen it includes a second hand. The case is mahogany and has been cleaned and polished. Although not perfect the finish is very good with a pleasing lustre that makes the clock most attractive. The movement has been dismantled. Cleaned, pivots polished and reassembled. It has also been lightly oiled. Although the clock goes for a few days it does NOT keep good time. Running several minutes slow each day after being wound. The back plate cover is also missing as you can see from the photo. This does not affect its running but it means the movement is not as firmly fixed in the wood case as it would otherwise be. The dial is in excellent condition for its age. ... moreWith all the numbers and lettering in place as they should be. There is a little very light scratching near the numerals 2 and 3 but this is only visible on very close inspection. I have endeavoured to give an accurate and honest description of its condition. Together with photos that show its appearance. The clock needs work to make it work fully and accurately. An identical clock in full working order was recently on eBay for $198. ANTIQUE 1902 WATERBURY NAPIER? MANTEL / SHELF CLOCK W/8 DAY SPRING STRIKE, WORKS
You are bidding on a beautiful antique mantel or shelf pendulum clock from the Waterbury Clock Co of Waterbury Connecticut. I don't know much about clocks but I will do my very best to describe it as accurately as possible. First of all. The exact year of production is unknown. I came up with 1902 because on the back in pencil there appears to be the owners name(hard to read) and the year 1902 written on the wood. It may have been made earlier than that but this is the latest date I can find on it. The cabinet is very ornate with hand carvings from the top to the bottom. I believe that it is solid oak and stained in a medium finish. It stands approx 24" tall, 15" wide and 4 1/2" thick. It has a glass door with a gold accented design all the way around with a dragon in the lower left hand corner. It has brass components ... moreinside that include the pendulum, the strikes and trim rings around the face. There is an outer ring of roman numerals as well as a small brass ring of the same numerals in the center of the larger one. I believe that it is a Napier? model because there is a brittle paper label on the back which has all those letters except the P. The rest of the label has all of the following info on it; Eight-Day-Spring-Strike, Waterbury Clock Company, Waterbury Conn. USA, and directions for setting the clock, running and keeping it in order, directions for setting alarms in alarm clocks, directions for striking clocks and directions for calendar clocks. It also has a four cities which I'm guessing may have had stores that sold their clocks. They include Cortland St. New York, Wabash Ave. Chicago, Market St. San Francisco and Stockwell St. Glasgow. For the most part, this very informative label is in very good shape, its just that upper quarter that is brittle and has flaked off a bit. Now for the best part, this golden oldie seems to work just fine and the original key is included. I didn't let it run too long but what I observed seemed to be working as it should. This was purchased at an estate sale a few years back and I have had it on the mantel and now its time for a new home. It has run on its own when moved to a new location i n the past and the alarm has gone off. I have not wound the clock for fear of damaging it. The glass dome is thick and very heavy. I BELIEVE THE MARBLE MATERIAL IS CELLULOID. IT IS NOT MARBLE. ONE SCREW HAS BEEN REPLACED ON THE FACE. I AM NO EXPERT BUT IT APPEARS TO BE ALL ORIGINAL, EXCEPT FOR THE KEY. Antique, French Art Deco mantel clock. This large clock measures 17" in length and 9" in height. It is made of red and white marble with a black marble or onyx base. And weighs almost 25 lbs. The glass face door opens. To one side is a large German Shepherd dog made of some kind of metal. Perhaps spelter. The dog is a bit taller than the clock. The dog is really gorgeous, a very noble face and the metal has a nice greenish reddish patina. At the back of the clock is a pierced brass grill door which opens to reveal the movement inside. When you unscrew the round chimer bell. There is a hanging pendulum behind it and engraved in the brass clock works, ... moreare the words: Medaille d'Or Paris- F. Martin- 1900. This clock belonged to my great aunt. When I unpacked it there was no key so I purchased a replacement. Wound it up and the clock worked beautifully. It runs for about 8 days. Featuring a brass 8 Day Gilbert movement marked simply'1' Runs OK. But is in need of maintenance, it occasionally stalls and needs adjustment. The crystal is clear and clean with a few light scratches. The beauty ring is plated and there is some damage to the plating. The wood case wheel has been broken and repaired. see images) The case base has dry splits on both ends and is warped. see images) The paint on the rear plate is scratched and chipped.
