Huge Antique French Vincenti & Cie Paris Medaille Gothic Figural Soldier Clock
This is a very large heavy French soldier figural clock. Moven is open escapement. Made by Vincenti& Cie France and movement is marked as shown and has"1855" date. Figure is a spelter type metal. Base is marble with plaster interior. Weighs approximately 60 lbs and is approximately 21" wide. 23" tall and 9" from front to back.Clock has no hands and there is no pendulum or key. The clock adjustment dials have a light coat of rust. Clock is not overwound but I am not sure if it is functional. Will need to be serviced. Front Movement Plate that rests against clock door frame is bent but can be straightened. Figure has a crack in leg as shown. Back door is missing. Clock needs overall cleaning and there is some red paint that can be removed. Back slab of marble has come loose and will need to be recemented. There ... moreis a crack in back marble as well. Plate underneath is partially loose and needs to be reattached. Upper part of clock is loose from base as shown. I will ship in three boxes. You are looking a a 14k gold gilded clock. It is bright and shinny. My photo's are not the best but it calls for attention no matter which direction you have it placed. The back is nearly as interesting as the front. The glass covering the face is really special beveled edge convex glass. The face is in extremely good condition with maybe a tiny dot here or there. They may even wipe off but I have never rubbed anything across the face. The back of the clock with the glass covered door opened shows the original clock mechanism. Spring and pendulum. Antique bracket/ mantel clock combines a precision movement made by the 19th century French clockmaker Vincenti& Cie with the 20th century craftsmanship of a mahogany case made by UK cabinet maker Waring& Gillow Ltd. I'm guessing that marriage took place early in the 20th century but I don't see anything to date it exactly. It is a 19th century French movement though- it's stamped: MEDAILLE D'ARGENT VINCENTI& CIE 1855" Finally. I believe the case is mahogany but I'm not 100% sure. Perhaps a knowledgeable serious bidder who can determine that from the pics could set me straight.
