Striking Antique QUARTER HORSE 58 x 40 Wool RUG TAPESTRY Wall Hang Made Belgium
Beautiful Wool Rug Wall Hanging with Large Quarter Horse Motif. Probably dates from late 1950's to 1960's. I am not warranting that the yarn is wool but feel very confidant that it is based on its feel and age. Tight weave gives very nice detail. This wall hanging was mounted on a board and was hung in the home of a local area resident until it was sold at estate settlement auction. To back is tag that reads. Made In Belgium" Overall condition is VG. with normal. Not extreme, signs of age fading etc; There is damp staining to right side, see pic) This is much more visible from back. Measures approximately 58" wide x 40" high. The nap on this carpet reminds me of a style called"plush" in the 1960's- very dense, soft, rich with firm loft. There are a few minor signs of edge wear from being adhered to board, ... morenot extreme nor obtrusive) I could find nothing on internet. Research-wise; Thus, I can only present this piece with description, to best of my ability, as well as visuals. It is a nice piece, to wit, not cheesy, cheap, nor with a trace of kitsch. Nice Early Vienna Triple Weight, Quarter Striking, Wall Regulator, c. 1850
Here is a nice early Vienna Regulator. Triple weight, quarter striking, wall clock, c. 1850. Movement is unmarked, as is the case, it has that very sleek and un-decorated finish typical of the early Vienna Regulators. Dial is in very nice shape, great set of original metal hands, it and many of the parts are tagged(by the previous owner using small white labels) noting he acquired it is December 1966. Gilded bronze surround of the dial is quite elegant, movement is very dirty, retains the three delicately cast pulleys and original weights(with some dents) Case looks like rosewood, as do the shelf the movement sits on and the brackets that hold the shelf(I assume the case is a veneer, certainly looks that way) Case overall is pretty good, you can see there are chips at both sides of the base of the clock, the base is flat and does not look ... morelike it ever had any further decoration. Top of the clock has three nice bronze circles, the hope looks like it may have had a pair of decorative elements to each side of the center based on the ghost outlines present. Glass is older, but may or may not be original. Pendulum looks good, top of rod has had its hardware replaced incorrectly, buyer should have the proper mount made. At present the clock does not run, but it looks like a simple cleaning and oiling would make it go. Measures 39 tall by 14.50 inches wife at the widest point. I will not ship this one, too complicated for me- would prefer to deliver it to a UPS store for you and you can arrange the shipping,or happy to meet up in the New York City region for pickup. Good luck!
