This is a really pretty French Portico, Napoleon III, Regulating Pendulum Clock. Very nice working clock with lighter wood inlay. It measures 18 3/4" ... moreX 9 1/2" X 5". I believe it is from the late 1800's, but I am not a clock person. I am also not sure of the workings, but I put the pendulum on and gave it a nudge and it took off and ran for several minutes until I took it off. Seems to work fine. Comes with Key. This came from an estate of a high end clock and oil lamp collector. She only bought the best. She had a few Tiffany's and some carriage clocks which I purchased as well along with a few others. I will also be listing those so be sure to check my other listings.

Antique French Portico Mantel Clock Circa 1840 8-Day Description: A French Charles X portico clock circa 1840. This clock is wonderfully decorative. Having ... morean elaborate faux painted wooden case, painted to look like ostrich skin, with chinoisserie style flowers, inlaid with mother of pearl, and with ormulu appointments. The dial is white enamel with ormulu surround and the ormulu pendulum is very ornate. The clock has an 8-day movement and it is in good working order, made by Chaumont of Paris, signed on the movement. The only damage I can find is a boo-boo at the base on the back of the clock. It looks like someone put a sticky label there at one time and now the faux paint is marred. Please see photo) The clock is 20" high by 10" wide by 5 1/2" deep and guaranteed to be as described. Here are two sets of four columns from a pair of portico clocks plus the set of 4 steel rods that went through one set of columns(all of the columns are hollow) Also included are 6 assorted finials that came from the same box. The Barley twist columns fit an 8-3/4" opening(10-1/4" overall length) The other set of columns fit a 9-5/8" opening(11-1/8" overall) Shipping is buyer's choice of USPS Parcel Select or UPS Ground.
