Of course the depression slowed sales tremendously, but in addition to the economic slow down was the popularity of the‘new’ synchronous electric clocks that left Sessions with a large inventory of their spring-driven clocks. When he started there he had no idea where his new career would ultimately go. But as he gained an interest in horology his knowledge grew to a point where he wanted more involvement in the company. It was fortuitous that Kroeber started when he did. For later the next year in 1861, the partnership broke down and the company was taken over by George B. Owen, one of the original partners. Kroeber continued working for Owen for the next three years and when Owen decided to accept a position working for the Gilbert Clock Company, Kroeber seized his chance to take full control of the company. From his takeover in 1864 to 1868 Kroeber continued running the business with little expansion until he met with a cast metal producer. Nicholas Mueller. Kroeber could see that Mueller would be an important asset for making antique Kroeber Clocks, so a partnership was f

After 1838 it had generally replaced cast brass and wood for making clock movements. Since clocks provided a market for brass. What could have been more natural for Phelps to do than to start a clock company in connection with the brass operations to use more of his own product. In 1851 The Ansonia Clock Company came into existence as a subsidiary company. It is probable from the clocks and data now available, that even from the very start two firm names were used. These firms had grown out of the clock making operations of William L. The new factory complex was completed and manufacturing commenced. George B. Owen(1834-1916) had come to Winsted in 1866 as General Manager and ran the firm for nearly 50 years, designing many interesting cases and patenting several clock movement features. Owen also operated a concurrent clock business at Winsted between 1875 and 1894. In 1897. The Gilbert firm built a four-story building for a new case shop and another building by 1900 for storage and shipping. A three-story office building was built in 1902. The recession, which began in 1907, along with the financial pressures of their recent expansion headed the firm in a decline that culminated by forcing George B. Owen and his sons to relinquish control in 1914 Bankruptcy and liquidation were barely avoided in 1914 and a new manager. Charles E. Antique Waterbury Paris Walnut Parlor Clock 1881 Renaissance Revival
This Waterbury parlor clock is 23 inches high to the top of the finial and 13 inches wide. The case is made of walnut and has a face near the top below a finial. The clock is the Paris model which was introduced in 1881. We believe this is an 8 day time and strike clock. The face is enamel and has a little bit of loss but looks original. The clock has some carving at the top and bottom. The clock winds fine but will only run for a couple of minutes at a time. The bell does not seem to be lined up properly with the striker. The pendulum is missing the pointer that points to the speed. We believe the glass in the door has been replaced. There is no damage to the case.

Still a very nice piece and very rare. It’s not obvious but there are two griffon heads at the bottom edges. Guaranteed old and as described! Antique/Vintage Ansonia Kitchen or Parlor Clock Good Condition Running Striking.
Antique/Vintage Ansonia Kitchen or Parlor Clock Great Condition Running& Striking. Do you love clocks but never thought you'd own one of these antique American parlor clocks. Well this is the one for you it is so classy. It has a very clean and well finished wooden case which is great condition for its age. As with many of these old ones this one has had some little restoration but this one seems to look as fresh and bright as it always was with the fine wood grain warming your parlor. Of course it should have knocks and bumps commensurate with its age which add character but I couldn't find many and it still looks really great. The dial looks wonderful. This clock is not only classy it is running and striking the half hours and counting out the hours on the hour on what is probably the most sophisticated and classy subtle resonating ... morecathedral gong. It goes for 8 days or more after winding fully and is supplied with key and artistic silvery shiny bullseye pendulum. If you have been umming and ahhing about buying a clock. Here it is, the one you've been waiting for. It is ready to go on your mantel. Standing approx. 53cm in height. 35cm wide and 14cm deep it would be a great feature in your lounge on the mantel piece. Beautiful 1900's Antique SESSIONS "WAGNER"? PARLOR / MANTLE CLOCK w/ key Unique&
Another beautiful mantle clock I couldn't pass up from a recent estate sale I went to. Unique designs. Love the dark green color columns. The metal deco of a lady holding what looks to be a harp on each side, metal deco on sides and beautiful designs as you will see in the 12 photos uploaded. I was told, and information I have received or have been told in the past has been wrong at times, so PLEASE be your own judge and PLEASE look at all the photos. Someone mentioned it as a"WAGNER" and, I was also told it's a Mozart Circa 1918. It is without the glass over the face. Again, NO glass over the face of the clock. There's crackling on the material of the face/dial, from age and it being in used, antique condition, I assume. On the front of the face at the bottom, MADE BY THE SESSIONS CO. FORESTVILLE CONN. U.S.A. The front ... morehas the metal claw feet on each side. Measuring the widest part, which is the claw feet and where they come out, side to side, again, including the claw feet, approximately 16 1/4 inches. Measuring front to back, including the claw feet, approximately 6 inches. It displays approximately 11 3/4 inches tall. I took pictures of all sides angles, even the inner parts/mechanism. I couldn't get it to run. I really do not know what it needs. I think, and my opinion only, the pendulum is not mounted right because I found another pendulum type piece loose inside. It has the key with it. It strikes a deep sounding cathedral gong to the count of the hour/s and once on a bell for the half hour. I am not a clock expert and do not know exactly what it needs. So hopefully someone that knows about clocks will be able to tell more about it by looking at the photos uploaded. The scales show it weighing 9 pounds and 0.6 ounces. Thanks for your interest and looking:

WORKING Late 1800's E Ingraham Kitchen Mantle Parlor Shelf Gingerbread Clock
You will get the clock that is pictured. I don't know alot about it, but it is working, seems to be in excellent condition, and is very very old. I listed this one just like one that I saw sell for around $200, and I'm not sure that one even worked! The pendulum swings like it is supposed to, it has the key to wind it up, the alarm went off while I was messing with it, or it may have been that it was on midnight and chiming, not sure. It also chimes every so often and makes a few different sounds, like a clock like this should, it is awesome! And again, it seems to work perfect! The casing is wooden, I believe it is rosewood, has beautiful carvings on it, the glass on the front has good looking etchings. The clock has lots of markings on the back, see pics. I did not clean it cause I didn't want to mess with the originality, this ... moreis a very very old clock, an I can't believe that it actually works! The clock stands 22" tall and is 15" wide. You may have to wind the clock again to get it started. To do this, you simply use the key, and turn the screws on the clock face. They both turn in towards each other. And I turned the bottom gold key to see what it did, not sure what that does. But in sure if your a clock collector, you should know how to work this one. I will ship this in a box wrapped in bubble wrap. And shipped with peanuts, either by Parcel post or Priority mail, whichever is the most reasonable, but either way, it should arrive safely. I also can't take returns on this item unless I listing it wrong in some way. So it is as is, all I know and guarantee is that it works, cause I don't know much about these type clocks. Please pay no later than 24 hours after end of sale or I will relist. I will ship soon after payment is made! I will remove the pendulum and put it and the key in a bag and it will be put in the box when shipped. The pendulum simply hooks on easily! I will also ship internationally. Although I do not accept returns on out of country sales, and you pay any s

The Welch firm was well known for its handsome rosewood cases, though in 1885, with changing styles in furniture, the surviving firm began to introduce new models with solid walnut cases and discontinued some of the older rosewood veneered cases. Containing such places(with the older name in brackets) as: Winsted(Winchester) Torrington(Wolcottville) Thomaston(Plymouth Hollow) Waterbury(Mattituck) Naugatuck(Salem Bridge) and Ansonia ... moreon the east bank nine miles north west of New Haven. The falls in the river provided an excellent source of water power causing industry to locate here. Ansonia was named for Anson C. Phelps who caused the Ansonia Brass Co. part of the Phelps Dodge Co. to be built here. Rolled brass became commercially available in quantity in the United States sometime during the early 1830’s. Ansonia Clock Co. was one. And Ansonia Brass& Clock Co. was the other; both marked"Ansonia. Conn. It seems they used aggressive sales promotion methods, working on the premise that the more clocks made and sold, the more brass they would use. A store or outlet in Boston is mentioned in the city’s 1854 Directory with the Ansonia Clock

He made over five thousand clock cases for them over the next three years. As a group, Ingraham clocks, and especially the clocks made under a label bearing the Ingraham name up until 1885, refer to clocks made by several different companies. The firm of Brewster and Ingrahams clock company was formed in 1844 and operated until July 24, 1852. During this time Elias designed the Gothic clock case, with four columns. The E. and A. Ingrahams Company was then started and ran from 1852 to 1856; and then Elias Ingraham and Company from 1857 to 1860. Then from 1861 to 1880 the name E. Ingraham& Company was used. From 1881 to 1884, the company was known as The E. Ingraham& Company. Finally in 1885 it was incorporated as The E. Ingraham Company.
