This auction is for an antique New Haven Clock Co Banjo No. 3 clock. The back is signed and dated. Looks like the signature says Deleany possibly. The date is 1-9-41 G1 but I am not sure if this is a manufacture date. Serial# EC-611-23T. This clock functions when plugged in. It seems to take a couple of attempts to when advancing the button on the face but it has fired up every time I have tried. The ocean scene on the bottom is of some men rowing out to their ship. Up for auction is an antique New Haven Waring model large banjo style clock circa 1920. This large clock is 41 in. high from the top of the finial to the bottom of the clock. It is 11 1/2 in. across at the widest point and 4 in. deep. The clock face is 8 1/2 in. across and is marked New Haven. U.S.A. There is some wear to the metal face. The eagle head on the top has been broken off. The lower glass has a red building with"Ye Upholsterer Betsy Ross" There are four people at the door.the woman is holding an American flag. The key is included. As I am typing this. I'm waiting to see if the chimes work. The pendulum is going back and forth, ticking and tocking. Both hands are moving fine. There is a hand written receipt that came with the clock. I have no idea what date the receipt is from. But it looks like it had an overhaul or cleaning at some point. A Rare Large Federal Style Banjo Clock by Willard. This Clock features the United States Naval Ship. The USS Constitution" doing battle with the HMS Guerriere or" Old Ironsides" in one of many sea battles from the war of 1812. This clock celebrates the that Anniversary. I can't find any marks on the clock that will allow me to age it all the features of its build and it materials suggest it is an Antique. That it the clocks case, however the movement is a West German movement and I am not sure if this movement is original. As I said the construction of the case where the movement is placed does suggest that it is original but there is no info any where I can find about this certain clock. There is info aplenty about this clock with certain parts but as I said this clock is an Anniversary clock celebrating he Battle. From the estate of a clockmaker. Antique Magnificent Super-sized New Haven banjo clock with great motif! Has a Sticker on the back of the clock case which says it was a 30 day Willard! Looks like this was originally brass works but someone electrified it! So does not include original works! Decent antique condition. Case has a fair share of nicks and dings as expected with a clock this age but nothing significant. Eagle ornament has a broken wing but easily replaceable! The clock face has significant fading in the numerals as shown in photos. The art in the center panel looks original and does have a significant amount of crazing and some paint loss. Beautiful replica case of an S. WILLARD'S PATENT banjo clock. Handcrafted by Roy Ashe. In 1982, for a GOLDEN 50th Wedding Anniversary. The case measures 42 inches tall by 11 inches wide and 3 5/8ths inches thick. In the lower chamber there is a brass plaque from Roy Ashe. There is a note on the back. About battery changes, so I assume there is a battery operated clock inside. But I make no claims or give no warranty or guarantee about how it works. You can use it as is or remove whatever is in there and replace it with a wind up/weight driven clock. There are lots of possibilities for a case this well made. All the wood is in wonderful shape and the two main glass pieces with roses. Leaves and filigree are perfect. The eagle on top is heavy and solid. The clock face seems to be a thick glass as well. The Anniversary plaque can be removed ... moreby two screws. The two things that the clock case will need to make it complete are; one 7 inch diameter clear glass circle for the top brass frame and a new weld on the small hinge for the top brass closure. Antique E. Howard No. 2 Regulator Wall Clock Banjo Type Cherry Case no reserve
A fresh estate find. selling to the highest bidder at no reserve. a full 45 1/2 inches tall. This is a very large American weight driven banjo type wall timepiece. Provenance: This particular clock once hung at Roebling. New Jersey at the Roebling Steel factory near Trenton. Roebling was famous for making steel supporting cables for suspension bridges all over the US. Google" roebling steel" and you will see" About 154.000 results" This clock is unsigned by the maker but is nearly identical to The E. Howard No.2 regulator except this one has a seconds bit like the No. 1 regulator. Very unusual indeed. Over the years I have bought and sold many E. Howard. Howard& Davis and even a couple of similar John Posley regulators but never have come across one just like this one with in the No.2 size AND a seconds bit. The case ... moreis made of cherry. Refinished long ago as these E. Howard type regulators were normally cherry with grain painting to resemble rosewood. The original painted dial is made of a zinc alloy, has a just few flakes and seems to have never been altered. The mechanism is original to the case has not been serviced in quite some time, yet seems to want to run; also, the precision movement attaches to the case with one heavy duty iron screw reminiscent of the way some of the very early banjo clocks were supported. The pendulum stick is wood and actually is made from a very old yardstick, likely done by one of the former repairmen who left a couple notes inside. more about that below. The cast pendulum(lead or lead zinc alloy) is covered with brass to the front as is typical of mid 19th century workmanship. The glass for the throat and for the dial both seem original and have matching ripples, waves and bubbles. due to worn away flanges on the throat frame, there are several screw added to holt the frame to the case. The backboard has a few bits of old paint along the edges as the painters did not move the clock prior to refreshing the wall. Lower glass obviously replaced about 40 or so

Bicentennial banjo"clock commemorating the 200th anniversary of the United States founding and the 135th anniversary of the E Howard Clock Company of Boston. Massachusetts. This clock is an original"reissue" of the 1800s original clock. It is NOT a reproduction. It is# 40 of 200. So it's one of the earliest produced in 1976-1977. Date stamp says"1-77. Original owner and purchaser James Welch was a certified clock and watch maker and high-end art and antiques dealer. This passed to the consignor thru his estate on his passing in 2001. ... moreMr. Welch faithfully maintained this clock since 1977 until his passing. This clock is one of only 200 produced. And is in original condition, possibly only needing some cleaning and polishing. The scroll ribbon in the center pane lists the 13 original colonies. The pendulum pane at the base shows the dates of the two different anniversaries. It has a weight driven movement in a mahogany case with reverse painted throat and lower tablets with 13 colonies motif and painted metal dial, serial#40, dated Jan 1977. The clock is in excellent original condiiton. A couple small scratches on left side base near hinges. Ht 42" Weight apprx 20lbs. This clock has been inspected by a local clockmaker and is in perfect working condition with all parts intact. Including the pendulum lock. It also has mounting screws and the crank included. AGAIN. An antique or vintage"Whitney" banjo wall clock by New Haven Clock Co. It measures approximately 32" tall. 10-1/4" wide, and 4-3/4" deep. It is in good running condition and a key is included. Cosmetically, the glass door which would go over the dial is missing. There is also some loss to the reverse painting on the glass, and a bit of wear to the case and dial.
