VTG Blue & White Maddock & Sons Ironstone Chamber Pot Lid Staffordshire England
For your consideration today is a wonderful blue and white ironstone pottery chamber pot with lid. This pot was produced by the John Maddock& Sons Potteries. Staffordshire England. It is true vintage and in excellent condition overall with no chips or cracks- there is fine crazing all over but the shiny glaze on the pot and lid is still very nice. This chamber pot retains its original lid. The lid and single pot handle are enhanced by a leaf and vine motif molded into the pot. The blue bands on the lid and pot are surrounded by a fine line of goldtone highlights. This pot is approx 8 inches tall at the top of the lid knob. Diameter of the pot is approx 8 inches, 10 inches across at the single handle. Very attractive and collectible, this would be a fine addition to your blue and white or ironstone collection. It has a wire bail with a wood handle. It looks to hold about 2 gallons. It has a few dings(see close-up photos) but there are no holes in it. The wire bail has light rust spots. Vintage Enamelware Chamber Pot White w/Red Rim & Handle + Lid + Original Label
Use this as a decorator piece in your modern bathroom! Before indoor bathrooms were popular. These chamber pots were used in every bedroom/household. People used these pots so that they wouldn't have to make a trip out to the outhouse in the cold, dark night. In the morning these full pots were carried out and dumped in the outhouse. Judging by the size. This one was probably used by youngsters between the ages of 5–12. This one is unique because it has a lid and the original manufacturer's label on the side. It reads. Columbian, Serving the Home Since 1871; Porcelain Enameled Steel; Made in U.S.A. by Columbian, Terre Haute, Indiana; General Steel Wares Limited; GSN logo) Exclusive Canadian Distributors. The pot has a red rim and the lid has a black rim but they fit perfectly together. The handle is a slightly rusted metal with a ... moregray Bakelite( grasping handle. I don't think plastic, as we know it today, was widely used during this time period but I understand that Bakelite was used, however, I can't guarantee this. There is also a ripped price tag on the side of the pot which I cannot read. SIZES: Pot only—7 1/2" tall x 9 3/4" diameter top. Total height with handle straight up is 13" Lid—10 1/8" diameter x 2" height CONDITION: There are several dents. Chips and scratches on the lid and pot. There are also several rust spots on the pot which someone tried to cover with a clear varnish or acrylic to stop the erosion, I suppose. The repair work is difficult to see in the photos. Very Old Warranted Ironstone Chamber Pot White With Coat of Arms Mark on Bottom
This is an original"Warranted Ironstone China" chamber pot. It is marked as such in black underthe glaze along with a Crest that consists of a shield(that looks Amercian) with stripes on the lower half of the shield and stars on the top part of the shield. Then the shield has two heraldic lions standing on the side of the shield on either side. There is some design above the shield but I can't make out what it is and a banner below the feet of the lions. It is white ironstone with a design molded in the outside sides and a flat top rim with a handle that has a curcly coming off the top of it as a thumb rest. It measures 5 1/4" tall at the sides by 9" in diameter from outside top rim to outside top rim. The rim is 3/4" wide all the way around. It has two small chips in the unglazed foot but these could have been ... moredone at the factory they are small and insignifigant. There is some overall crazing. Please see photos. The interior bottom and underside bottom crazing is dicolored but the crazing on the rim and elsewhere is not discolored but visible. So I went to a favorite antique mall that always has an awesome February sale. Picked up lots of antiques and unique items to list! I also continue to list new items from the farm estate auction, with lookouts more new hardware pieces over the next several weeks. Ya gotta love antique ironstone- and this beauty comes with its hard to find lid. Too! What I have is a white ironstone chamber pot- marked on the bottom with the double lion crest, Royal Patent Ironstone, and Tomkinson Bro& Co. this English piece will accent your collection or decoration beautifully. The base of the ... morepot measures 10 3/8" wide handle to end, 8 7/8" diameter at the top, and stands 5 3/4" tall. With the lid on, it measures 8" tall to the top of the handle. The pot is in excellent structrual condition, with some minor damage from wear and age(and I'm afraid to say.use! There's a very thin and hard to see hairline crack that runs from the top down 3 1/2" You can see it from the inside too- although only 2" of it on the inside. I'm showing you the outside view in photo 9, and the inside view in photo 18. The pot shows crazing all over, and some darkening due to the crazing toward the bottom of the pot, and some light carmel colored spots on the side, but no other issues, chips or cracks on the body. Turn it over, and you can see a couple of teenie nicks on the very rim of the bottom where it sits on the table/floor- so it has to be upside down to see and they may be original- see photos 19-23. If you look at photos 12-15, you will see that the underside of the lid has two very small shallow chips(photo 13 has a third that is more of a small scrape) One is on the inside rim, it's 1/8" and it's the largest. Thank you for considering this auction! I love to collect British white ironstone. I display it and I also use it for wedding and baby showers. Dinner parties, etc. I mostly collect large meat or serving platters and milk and cream pitchers, but I do have a few chamber pots still. I know what you are thinking! NO! I NEVER use the chamber pots for food service! But they are great to hold small potted plants and for other purposes. Some of them are just so beautiful! White Ironstone Kansas Shape Chamber Pot with Lid - J&G Meakin - 1800's
Offered is a beautiful White Ironstone Chamber Pot with lid in the Kansas Shape. This shape features vertical convex ribs with embossed large leaves around the handle and on the lid. As well as a large nut finial. This piece was produced by J&G Meakin in Hanley, England circa the mid to late 1800's, and retains their impressed mark indicating J&G Meakin- Pearlware. This Chamber Pot is is in very nice overall condition. The base is excellent with no chips or cracks. And only some light age coloring on the interior. The lid has a chip on the outer rim and a flake on the underside rim, as well as some light crazing. It measures 8 3/4 inches in diameter and 8 3/4 inches in height, with the lid on. ~ This remains a gorgeous piece of early White Ironstone ~ Please email any questions before bidding. This gorgeous antique white chamber pot has its lid and handle. The handle is metal with a wooden grip piece which is still fully intact although the paint on the wooden grip is a bit worn. There are no cracks or chips in the porcelain/ceramic(I am not sure which of the two it is made out of) The piece is in perfect condition. The charming embossed decoration on the pot and lid make this a beautiful find. This piece measures approximately 11 inches high and 10 inches in diameter, and is quite heavy, so I will be offering local pick-up only.

This auction is for a Lovely Antique White Ironstone Chamber Pot and Lid made by Johnson Brothers of England. It is in Very Good condition. Especially for its age, which dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. There are no chips or cracks or stains or crazing or repairs in the bowl or the lid. The glaze is clear and white is white. There is a very minor grayish/silver"scuff" or lines in the top of the lid(last photo) It doesn't detract from the overall appeal of this Great Find. Antique white chamber pot made in the late 1800's Very nice condition for its age! Bowl measures 8 1/2 inches in diameter and 5 1/4 inches tall Handle extends out another 2 inches and is approx. 4 inches tall Marked ROYAL IRONSTONE CHINA with the stamp of the lion. Crown and unicorn, with CHARLES MEAKIN ENGLAND under it. This printed mark was used on the earliest pottery made at the Burslem Works location. From 1870 to 1882. There are a few expected minor anomalies inherent with hand-made pottery. The inside is quite clean. Close inspection reveals very minor scratches on the bottom from use over 130 years ago. The glazing on the exterior is very nice There are no chips on the top edge. As shown in the photos. There is a very small crack at the top right side of the handle that appears to have been glued, possibly prior to glazing. This ... moreis not very obvious to the eye when on display, and in my opinion it is a minor visual issue. I have tried to be as complete as possible in my description. But does have some raised decorations on the bottom and also the lid. This is in very good age appropriate condition.with one noticeable minor issue of a crack that appears to be superficial. I do not feel any chips or flea bites on any of the edged of the bottom or the lid. There also is age-appropriate crazing.but certainly not a distraction. ♠ P. Antique chamber pot. Decorative crock from the late 1800's. A primitive design made from primitive pottery or stoneware. Not white like ironstone. This piece is off-white light to light gray with some surface flaws from being handmade, tiny-small imperfections, nicks,notches that make this piece appealing to collectors of primitives. Across the rim at the top are some small blue marks which is indicative of stoneware. The blue marks are there since it was made, there are no other maker's marks. This piece has a scalloped design about 3/4 of the way down from the top. The scallops are subtle but visible mostly at the bottom. In good condition for its extreme age of over 100 years old. Beautiful enbossed pattern of poppies and wheat with concave ribbing around bottom. Believe it is the"Canada Shape" or a very close facsimile. The markings on the bottom are rare so precludes positive identification. If anyone recognizes it. Please let me know. Clear in the marking is: N&Z Superior" with three crosses adorning a crown. The raised register mark is also not decipherable. Pot measures approximately 8 1/2" in diameter x 5 1/2" high. Inside and outside pot is clean and shiny. Has the three stilt marks with a sliver of clay next to it.under glaze. Part of manufacturing. Has two narrow slits in clay, under curve of handle. Have to turn over to see and part of manufacturing. It is stamped Marquette WS George 110A Pot measures approx 12" high with lid. 9" across the opening. It has an iron handle with wood. There is crazing but nothing major to the pot- There is a thin crack across the top which you can see in the pictures. Not too noticeable. No chips on the pot Overall for its' age I consider this to be in pretty good condition for an item that is approx 100 yrs old. I originally bought this pot to use on my porch& plant flowers in it-however when I found out the history of this item. Vintage Antique White Enamelware Wood Handle Chamber Pot with Lid
This is a quite large old fashioned white enamelware chamber pot. This pot has an extending metal handle with a wood grip. The pot measures about 11" tall to the top of the lid and the handle extends up about 5" The pot is about 8.5" wide. This pot shows some age and has bits of rust on the interior bottom and around the edge of the lid but very little. I see no chips or flakes. This pot can be very useful for whatever task you assign it to or would just serve well as a display piece.
