Antique Sessions Mantel Clock This is a great example of a Sessions 8-day Mantle Clock. It was made circa 1908. It is in GREAT condition. The clock has all of its original parts. Movement, case, rear door, etc. The movement works great! It has a signed"Sessions Clock Co" 8 day time and strike movement(see picture) which chimes on a bell once on the half-hour and on the hour it counts the hours with a very mellow tone on a cathedral gong. It has a solid mahogany wood case with colored inlayed wood design on the front faded by over 100 years, but still can be seen(see pictures) Its model name is the"Plymouth" The movement runs very well and keeps good time. The case is in very good condition. Very few blemishes at all. see picture) The mahogony case is made with a simple but beautiful classic design with a finish that has ... morea beautiful aged patina. All the screw holes in the back line up perfectly indicating all parts are original. Even the original back! The hands are also original! The cream tinted porcelain dial is signed Sessions and the original bezel is solid brass! The numbers and lettering are very crisp and not worn at all. Also. The dial is easy to read even from a distance. There are age hairline cracks in the porcelain that really looks antique. The original paper label is still on the inside of the back door. The back door is also original and fits nicely. The dial has a special place where you can set the time to slow and fast using the key– at the number 12(see picture) This way you don’t need to take the clock down off the mantle in order to make fine adjustments to the movement as to slow and fast. Union Square, New York" Le Boutiller& Co was a high end retailer/importer of fancy goods for the ultra rich of the Uuion Square area of Manhattan in the Victorian Era. They were close to the original Tiffany's, Reed& Barton and other fancy stores. They sold a lot of items but they also specialized in Marbel Clocks from France. The dial is also red and black marbel and is carved Clock is dated circa 1880- 1890 The clock is a mantle clock but is technically called a pedestal clock because it was used as a base for a statue that went on top of it. That is why the clock has a hole drilled in the top- dead center. I have a nice LARGE antique bronze flame finial that I am willing to give to the winning ... morebidder to put in the hole as an unsecured hole-filler(just sits in the hole- see next to last photo) just ask for it- see photos. For your consideration we have this gorgeous antique Seth Thomas Adamantine Mantel Clock. I found this at a local Estate here in Pennsylvania. The wood case was taken completely apart and then cleaned& polished to it's original glory. The bronze ornaments& feet have their original finish. The case only shows a minor nick or dent here or there. Nothing major that it stands out. The brass dial is the more scarce solid brass pan with the thick brass bezel and thick heavy beveled glass. The dial is all original with the black painted numbers by Seth Thomas. The bezel still retains it's original Gold Gilt as well as the Gold scroll work to the case is also original. The movement was cleaned& oiled. Movement size is the ST 4-1/2. Chimes once on the half hour with a brass cup bell& gongs correctly for the number of times ... morefor the hour. Here's a beautiful antique Seth Thomas Adamantine mantel clock with 4-full columns as well as two large half columns. The columns look really cool with light source behind clock-it looks like the columns are glowing! The clock measures approx. 11" tall.18" wide, and 7" in depth. The wood case appears to be made of a reddish mahogany or tiger maple. The adamantine finish has been cleaned and polished, the finish is very good with only very tiny chips to some edges(these imperfections are not easily seen) All four celluloid columns are excellent with no chips, including the large half columns although a couple columns have a few small remnants of gold paint that evidently was used in the original painting of the legs. The feet and column capitols have the old brass finish that has developed a nice patina-one back brass leg ... moreis missing and has a piece of wood substituted for support(again not noticeable, except upon close inspection) The original dial is faded but conveys that well-weathered look that many find desirable. The original Seth Thomas 4 1/2 8-day movement has been gone through, cleaned, and serviced-it runs strong and keeps good time. The clock strikes a bell on the half-hour and counts the hours on a nice sounding gong. The clock has it's original pendulum and key. A really Majestic old clock here!
