It consists of a large french mantle clock and 2 side pieces. The clock was on her mantle. It has suffered some damage. The clock does not work(at least I can't get it to. But I'm no expert) The front crystal(glass? has a crack or chip on face towards top. Each side piece has damage. One has the top of the handle missing. Antique French Gilt Bronze Clock w Cockerel. Jewels Antique gilt bronze mantel clock. Made in France, 19th century. Measurements: approximately 7 1/2 inches high. A little over 4 1/8 inches accross the front of the base. The case stands on 4 turned gilded legs. Base of white marble with an inset row of ormolu scrolls in the front. Rectangular steps. Tapering towards a marvellous cockerel/ rooster finial. The rooster being a symbol of France, this clock would have some French significance. Golden gadrooning around the base and at different levels. The front with fantastic applied ormolu flowers and foliage surrounding a protruding ring of paste'diamond' gems which enclose the dial. Above, casket like dome surmounted with the cockerel. Excellent modelling with fine detail of feathers and musculature and one can almost feel him rustling ... morehis tail and crowing. Sides of case are fluted. The dial is Classic French mastery and beauty: white enamel with the numerals. Both Roman and Arab(for the hours and the minutes) in dark, cobalt blue. They are surrounded on the inside by a ring of flower swags- exquisitely enamelled in minute detail. The hands of the dial are also quite lovely- very fine gilt openwork. The mechanism of the clock can be seen behind a glass door. We do not have a key. Nor are we clock experts, but I believe that this clock can be put to work with very little effort because when I moved it, I heard a constant tick tock. Rare Bronze Mounted Imari Porcelain Clock Set ~ Samuel Marti. ~ Japanese/ French- Circa 1890 ~. ~~ Excellent condition. Fully overhauled ~~. A very large. Rare and impressive original antique clock set. The bodies are stunning Japanese Imari porcelain mounted with finely gilded bronze. Candelabra are formed from a matching pair of Japanese Imari porcelain jars of inverted pear form covered with a high domed lid. The clock is housed in a matching, but larger jar. The body is beautifully decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze rust-red enamel and gilt highlights. The vases sit on heavy gilded bronze bases with scrolled feet. The clock is surmounted by a winged mythical creatures and has a pair of lions mask handles. Candelabra are surmounted by four elegantly scrolled branches. The gilding is in lovely fresh and bright condition which ... morecontrasts beautifully with the Imari porcelain. The dial is also gilt brass with 12 individual enamel cartouches and blued steel hands. It is mounted in a heavy gilt bronze surround and is covered with convex glass. The French movement is by Samuel Marti and has the makers mark on the movement backplate. It is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is an old replacement. The original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The Imari porcelain is also in excellent condition with the usual slight wear to the overglaze gilt decoration. It works perfectly fine and keep a exact time, The red marble case has few small chips on the edges and one large in the back right side corner. This is an amazing French Portico All Marble Mantle Clock Set. This clock was made in the 1860's- 1890's in France out of the highest quality marble. And bronze decorations. All the bronze pieces were hand gilded with Gold leaf, and every piece you see on this clock is 100% original to the piece, and in 100% original condition. No one has ever attempted to restore it, or re-finish it, which is a VERY rare find with these clocks. The marble is beautiful with white, pink and grays throughout. All marble pieces are also in amazing condition and 100% original to the clock. Included are the two original urns for the clock, there is some stress damage to the bottom most and top most metal pieces from 120+ years of being used, but there solid(See pictures) You usually do not see the original garnets with one of these clocks, most of the ... moretime during the years the clock becomes separated with it's urns, or the urns get destroyed. But these are the original matches to this clock, both marked underneath in the marble with the phrase"Made in France" in the same writing as the clock. One urn has a small crack in the small topmost piece of marble, it's stable, and unnoticeable. The clock itself is absolutely amazing, with 6 tall columns of marble, and the portico style free swinging pendulum in the shape of a basket of fruit, which matches perfectly with the other baskets of fruit on both the urns, and the clock itself. There are two gilded trays on each side of the dial, in beautiful condition, a unique and expensive feature for these clocks. Stings of garland string from one side to the other in the middle of the clock with beautiful gold gilding. The dial is hand painted porcelain with flowers and marked"France" there is a small knick around one of the winding arbors, as to be expected with antique clocks. The clock features a winged putti with two blackened trees, one of which has two resting dragonflies. The clock face is enameled with Roman numerals and numbers. This clock is in magnificent condition for it's age of 120+ years old.With Urn Shaped Finial. Dragons/Serpents/Fish on either side.Medusa in the front. This clock seems to be in working condition and keeping time.However I do not believe the pendulum is the correct for this clock. The clock does keep accurate time and chimes as it should.But after running for about 10-15 minutes it stops.May just need to be oiled or something. Superb Antique French Bronze Clock Set Japy Freres ~ French- Circa 1870 ~. ~~ Excellent condition. Fully overhauled ~~. A superb original antique bronze clock set. The movement by Japy Freres and the case and candelabra cast by the famous bronze foundry of H. Luppens et Cie of Brussels. The backplate of the movement has both marks and the set was also retailed by H. Luppens from their Paris premises. It is of stunning quality. Beautifully modelled and exquisitely finished. It is in the Baroque style and features a pair of dolphins supporting the pillars to each side of the case. The case is elaborately modelled with finely fretted panels of stylised foliage a goddess mask to the base and a large gadrooned urn to the top. Candelabra are conforming in style with two branches supported by dolphins to the base and two set lower to the front and ... moreback. The dial is also bronze with 12 individual enamel cartouche letters with blued steel hands. Convex glass and a modelled and fretted dial surround. The French movement is by Japy Freres and has the makers mark on the backplate along with that of H. Luppens of Paris. It is fitted with the superior pin-pallet escapement and rack striking. It is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. Finials and the base are in perfect condition with no restorations. The bronze fittings and the ormolu are also perfect. There is a tiny damage to the hand painted enamel face just to the right of the number“6. I didn’t notice is at first, but one of the black feet is a replacement. The rest of the enamel face and the fancy gilt hands are perfect with no restorations. Both springs are in very good, strong condition and this clock is trying to rum without the pendulum attached. When I tried to attach t pendelum I noticed that the thin spring piece of metal that holds the pendulum to the clock is out of kilter. If this little piece is adjusted properly, I guarantee this clock will keep good time once again. There are no other problems or any restorations to this late 19 th century French marble and bronze Mantle Clock. The bronze portions are lighter weight but solid bronze and have a beautiful medium/dark bronze patination. The Delftware portion is undamaged with no chips. Cracks or other flaws. The clockworks are the less expensive 3 day type that were used in the 1920's-1940's. These are time only(no chime) and run as they should and keep good time. We can see that the face originally had a hinged door and it has been removed and the holes filled. Overall this clock is in very good antique condition with only the noted minor problems. Black marble base is ornate with gilt bronze ornaments. On the left clock is flanked with ornate shield with inscription ROME. On the right is a sword and parchment with inscription Eudore Christianis. Clock case is in dark patinated bronze with on the both sides winged lion figurines. One wing on the left has a small old crack due to moulding process. Base is surmounted by dark patinated bronze figurine of Roman warrior. Enameled dial is signed: C.Detouche Paris. Dials is with Roman numerals protected by glass door in front. M ovement is in good working. Recently serviced condition chiming at the 1/1 and 1/2 hours on a silvered bronze bell.
