These ... morecame out of that collection They are in mint condition. Size: Dia. 4.5" The following is information that I have been able to find on the internet about Red Kutani. The province of Kaga located in the middle of the main Island(Hondo) of Japan was the domain of the powerful Maeda family during the Edo period. This"outside" family was relatively independent of the ruling Tokugawa shogun. The area was the agrecultural centre of Japan and the Maeda family played a role of importance in the Japanese shipping trade. Because of this the Maeda family was less secluded from foreign influences then other parts of Japan. There is a lot of insecurity concerning the earlier Kutani wares but from my point of view I suggest we should think of Kutani as at least three differend kinds of pieces. Two of which was made during the first period. Closing sometimes during the first half of the18th century. Several sources would like to put the official closing date to the first decade of the 18th century, after fifty years of operation but there just are no extant data confirming this. The products from this first period are generally called Old Kutani(Ku-Kutani) During the first period some 340 years ago. From around 1655-1657, most probably a pottery tea ware was made. After some years an alchemist named Goto Saijiro are said to have been sent to the Arita area in present Saga prefecture, which was already famous for its porcelain production, to study porcelain technique. He are thereafter said to have returned with craftsmen from Arita after which porcelain production was started in the Kutani village. At this time production of Iroe multi-colored enamel decorated porcelain seems to have been started. The excavation result are not conclusive. Though, so with some knowledge of the human nature it is possibly that some porcelain was made there, some brought in from other

For your consideration today is a wonderful blue and white ironstone porcelain chamber pot with lid. This chamber pot was produced by the John Maddock& Sons Potteries. Staffordshire England. It is true vintage and in excellent condition overall with no chips or cracks- there is fine crazing all over but the shiny glaze on the pot and lid is still very nice. This chamber pot retains its original lid. The lid and single pot handle are enhanced by a leaf and vine motif molded into the ironstone porcelain. This Wood& Son Trilby chamber pot is in excellent condition. Wood" Son" vs and"Sons" dates this piece between 1891& 1907. Other than a superficial shallow chip on base where it sits no damage. Very clean with very little wear. It is the Trilby pattern in blue. It stands about 5 1/4" high with a rim diameter of 8 1/2" and about 11" from far side to handle. It weighs 2 lbs 10 ounces. A very nice antique. I have taken photos from several sides and angles. Please view them as they often speak for themselves. Please ask any questions you may have prior to bidding. This is a gorgeous. Early 1900's, flow blue chamber pot with a cobalt blue floral pattern on cream. Although commonly used through the mid 20th century, traditional use of the chamber pots disappeared with indoor plumbing. Today they are used for bed and bath decor or as storage for bathroom supplies, rolled towels, and even planter pots. This pot measures 8 5/8" in diameter(10 1/4" to handle) x 4 3/4" deep. Graniteware Chamber Pot for Child. Blue and white speckled with dark blue on rim and handle. This is a small chamber pot- 6" round(not including handle) x 3 3/4 tall. Weight 10oz. No holes. But 3 small chips- 2 chips around the base of the handle and 1 dent around the rim. I showed chips in pictures. Normal scratches on bottom of bowl. Still has a very nice sheen. It measures approximately 3 1/4" tall and 5 3/4" across the top.
