Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of Reproduction"Rice" Doorknob Escutcheons. Charming. Antique-reproduction escutcheons made of solid, heavy, thick, cast brass, not flimsy stamped/pressed brass or plated iron. The intricate design was originally produced by. Yale& Towne, of Stamford, CT during the late 1800's. It has a unique, rice-motif, field pattern surrounded by a beaded border. The plates are not 100% matching. If you look closely. You'll notice that the thickness of the beads and rice motifs of the plate on the right side are thicker than that of those of the plate on the left side. The plate on the left side is also 1/8" taller. Both plates are in good shape with only a few small nicks and dents along their edges. However. Neither plate has any breaks, cracks, chips, or gouges. We acquired these plates about ... more4 years ago. They were clean and had a brilliant shine when we first acquired them. And they haven't lost much of their luster since then. Many reproductions pale in comparison to the originals because they lack the sharpness of detail and their metal quality is low. However. Mortise Lock and Screws Very Hard To Find Set from the 1870's. They are over 140 years old. When Quality Workmanship and Materials were used at thier best! The Set in The Auction Pictures is the exact set you will receive. This is the only set we have. And it is in Excellent Vintage Condition. They have a beautiful patina to them but could shine brilliant with a polish. The Door Knobs are Round. Sculpted and fit the original adjusting extension rod, there are 3 settings on the rod on each side of the rod to fit different dimensions of door thickness. The Extension Rod Measures 4 1/4" Inches. Vintage Brass Lion Door Knob Cast Brass Lion! Wonderful vintage cast bras knob with Lion head/mane. In very good useable condition.there is 2 cracks on the knob edge-one is above right of lion. The other is below right of lion. Some of the green tarnich is crack areas, on knob in the groove where the cast lion fits, some areas of a'brown' discoloration; some scratches(will probably polish out) one dent on left side of handle in smooth area. This 3 1/2” long x 3 1/4” wide x 3/4” thick with 5” x 7/8” cast brass Eastlake end plate lock is intact and functional. The surfaces are entirely original with clean. Shiny black japanning. These knobs are fixed and do not rotate: mechanism is activated by a thumb lever. One white china knob has a nickel plated center and black japanned cast iron mount. The other has a bronzed japanned finish with fancy brass button center. The side of the lock reads, Chicago L. Co Gilbert;s Patent May 30 1876” There is no key. The end plate may have been polished but the other surfaces are dirty and well preserved. Pair of Antique Ornate Victorian cast brass door knob rosettes back plates
This is a beautiful pair of Antique Victorian cast brass rosettes. They have some traces of old paint on them. And one is a little darker than the other, but they still look great. Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Arts& Crafts Brass Double Door Set w/Knobs. Plates, Lock& Key. Gorgeous. Antique, exterior door lockset salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. The set consists of 2 brass knobs, 1 brass escutcheon and 1 bronze escutcheon, 1 steel mortise lock bronze faceplate, 1 bronze cylinder mortise with 2 working keys& 1 bronze anti-theft collar, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, 1 split spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs. All brass/bronze parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast brass/bronze, not stamped or pressed brass/bronze or plated steel. At the point of salvage. The set was found painted, dirty, and unevenly tarnished. Since then, we've removed the paint, and cleaned and polished the set to the best of our ability. The set is in excellent condition. And only has the light nicks and ... morescratches that you would expect to find on nearly 100-year old hardware. There are no chips, breaks, cracks, gouges, or dents. About the lock: This lock is designed to be installed on a pair of double doors. Which have rabetted(stepped) inner edges(see last 3 photos for an example) The lock is reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. The mortise lock is locked by pushing the top button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the bottom button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the bottom button. The lock was opened. Inspected, and we sprayed greased on and around all internal parts to facilitate their movement. Vintage NY City Board of Education Cast Brass Door Knob
This auction is for a NY City Bd. of Ed. oval cast brass door knob. In great condition. These door knobs were made in the late nineteenth century and early twentyth century by the city. This particular knob was in a school in the Bronx built in 1907. So this door knob is over a century old. It has been on my shelf since 1972. It has not been polished and has the original patina. Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Brass Door Privacy Set w/Knobs. Plates, Thumbturn +Screws! Charming. Vintage lockset salvaged from Southeastern Massachusetts. The set consists of 2 brass knobs, 2 brass rosettes, 1 brass thumbturn, 1 mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 brass-plated steel strike plate for the door jamb, 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs, and all 10 screws needed to install the set. All brass parts are solid, heavy, thick cast brass, not stamped brass or plated steel. The brass parts were originally copper plated, but most of the plating wore off over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish. This is considered a privacy set because. Once installed, the lock could only be engaged from the side of the door where the thumb turn is installed. Great set for a bedroom or bathroom. We found the set ... morewith a nice. Warm patina, which we opted to leave undisturbed. However, if you prefer your hardware bright and shiny, we could clean and polish the set for an additional $20 prior to shipping-email us after the auction if you're interested.
