2 VINTAGE 1900-1920 Victorian Schoolhouse Brass Door Knob Back Plate Escutcheons
You are bidding on 2 VINTAGE Victorian/ Schoolhouse Style Brass Rectangular Doorknob Backplate Escutcheon seen in pix. They were caked in so many layers of lead paint they literally became part of the door. Carefully removed to prevent any damage to the edges. They were stripped to the original brass which was discolored, so they was media blasted with fine grit and are now ready for you to polish to a high shine, paint OR plate with copper, nickel or chrome. As the pix show both are in excellent condition with NO scratches or pits in the metal. Made by Corbin in the 1890's-1900's they were removed from a house built in 1901. Measures 7" long X 2-1/2" wide. Pix show the BOTH actual plates you are bidding on. These two are the only ones in this style that I have but I am listing dozens of different style backplates I have ... morebeen collecting for 25 years. Although they are not shown in the pix. Pair of lock plate screw escutcheons from a gunsmith who specialized in repairing and restoring Kentucky Rifles and Pennsylvania Rifles in the late 1940's. One of the escutcheons is from a 1850's Kentucky rifle( the darker one) the other is a vintage cast brass copy from the 1940's or 50's. Both are about the same size and shape. Nice Lock Plate screw escutcheons for any Kentucky Rifle. Pennsylvania Rifle or Plains rifle project gun you may have.
