Antique-reproduction escutcheons made of solid, heavy, thick, cast brass, not flimsy stamped/pressed brass or plated iron. The stunning design was originally produced by. Norwalk Lock Co. of Norwalk, CT during the 1880's. The design was made during the Aesthetic(Eastlake) period, and took it's influence from Moorish designs. The beauty of the pieces are only equaled by their superb condition. They have no breaks. Cracks, chips, dents, gouges, or deep scratches. We acquired these plates about 4 years ago. They were clean and had a brilliant shine when we first acquired them. And they haven't lost much of their luster since then, however, they have begun acquiring some patina-notice the lovely verdigris! Many reproductions pale in comparison ... moreto the originals because they lack the sharpness of detail and their metal quality is low. However.
