So up first is this antique hollow barrel figural skeleton key. The best that I can tell this goes to an antique Steinway Piano. It measures about 2 7/8" long and appears to be made of perhaps copper with a brass plating? It is in very nice shape with some typical light wear and oxidation from age and use. As pictured. This auction is for a great antique brass skeleton key with a greatly detailed bow with 2 fish connecting together to make the bow. The detail in the bow is some of the best I have seen in this kind of particular key because with use. The lines would wear and become fainter over time, though as you can see in the photos, this key's bow is just about perfect! There is a slight bend in the bow that I tried to capture. Large Antique Harwell Brass Skeleton Key Primitive
A great old very large Brass Harwell Key Marked Harwel l on one side. USA on other. A neat primitive giant key. Someone just wrote me to say they thought this is key used for lifting handle for a manhole cover in a street. You slipped it in the hold. Turned it 90 degrees to"get bite" then were able to lift the mahole cover. Thanks Greg) Measures about 4& 1/2” long. This was part of Central WI household estate. Antique German Brass Box with Skeleton Key Detailed with Vines & Ovals WMF (G)
Up for bids is this Antique Hollowware German brass box that measures aprox. 7 inches across. 4.5 inches tall, and 4.5 inches in depth. I am unsure on the date. It is detailed with small rectangular plates which have bluish-grey vines inlayed into them, on the top, and on all four sides. It also has tiny ovals engraved all around the bottom of the piece, on all four sides. It is in great shape, but has a few tiny nicks in where the vines entwine(see pictures. It looks like it was used as a sewing box, which someone constructed turquoise innards for. I locks with the skeleton key, which has the number 24, engraved in it. The number 24 is engraved on the box itself, as you can see in one of the pictures. The mark on the bottom of the box looks to be a swan with the letters WMF, and a G underneath those letters.
