Is a Beautiful Brass Horse Head Door Knocker that I picked up at a local Estate Sale here in town. On the back of the door knocker it reads 17-13 with a logo. And Copyright date of 1949 VA METALCRAFTERS WAYNESBORO VA C.R.K. There are no cracks. Chips, rust or repairs on this piece. Please see how beautiful the detail is in the pictures. When I first set eyes on the piece it had a little package taped to it. You will see that package in some of the photos. It contains two screws, and a part of the knocker piece. I would imagine that's a good thing. I know nothing about knockers. I do know this is an old piece but was taken very good care of by someone; if was ever used. Rare Vintage Antique Nutone Door Chime Doorbell Bell Art Deco? Mid-Century Modern? Very beautiful. Solid metal. Very heavy. Measures 15 inches tall. Nearly 7.5 inches wide, almost 3 inches deep. Weighs 5.6 pounds. Made in USA. Inside label(photo#11) says Synchronous Motor by the Warren Telechron company of Ashland. Mass. Model type B3, Model# M-22. Can adjust chime bell for Soft or Loud. 20 volts. 4 PRM. Uses an electrical hook-up of some sort- but I know absolutely nothing about how it connects. The only thing I can answer is what is already in the photos. Two-tone metal. It might be brass or just gold-colored plated. Silver/ Nickel colored front piece slides in. Very good vintage cosmetic condition. Some scratches& scuffs on the nickel-colored sliding front piece. Some paint marks along the rear sides and top where paint brushes brushed ... moreagainst it over the decades when painting the nearby walls. Tiny rust spots at the very bottom(photo#7) and on the sliding front-piece. If you know how to properly clean metal. It should be great. Was in my Victorian house in Philadelphia. And already ancient when I bought the house in the mid-1980s. I hired an electrician to remove it in 1997 when I moved, and it has sat in a temperature-controlled storage unit for the past 16 years, cushioned in bubble-wrap. It worked great while it was installed. With a delightful, full-bodied(and non-annoying) chime. If I recall, it was two-rings, ding dong. I am assuming this still works. But I will not guarantee it. Unusual Antique/Vintage Brass Door Bell Pull - Shaped Like Door Knocker!
Here's a very unusual pull for an antique or vintage door bell. It's in the shape of a classic door knocker. But the handle only pulls out about an inch, there is a bolt with a felt washer that stops it from going farther. The bar that goes across the center is attached to a metal strap, which goes through a slot in the faceplate. This strap would be attached to the bell, on the inside of the door. So when a visitor would raise the"knocker" it would actually ring the bell! Very clever- I've never seen one like this before. It doesn't come with a bell, however I would think it would be fairly easy to adapt to any vintage pull-type door bell. Measures 6-3/8" top-to-bottom, the handle is 2.5" wide. This is made of solid brass, there's one old coat of white paint that would come off quite easily(it flakes ... moreoff with a fingernail) There's a nameplate that could be engraved with the house number or the owner's name. Antique door bell marked ABBE'S PATENT. Don't know how it works but all springs and ball striker is there. When I push the lever sticking out on the bottom. The striker will strike the bell and will sound off. Back is marked with the patent date but not clear enough to really see. This type of named patents were popular in the 1870's. Bell is 4" inches across. Total length is about 6" inches long. It could use some good oiling and cleaning.

ANTIQUE/ VINTAGE HOLTZER-CABOT DOORBELL This is a really cool antique doorbell. It has a beautiful wooden case and mounting base. The case has the following printed on it: HOLTZER-CABOT ELECTRIC CO. BOSTON AND CHICAGO Dimensions of the unit are approximately 7 1/2 inches by 4 inches. The cover comes off so that the unit can be mounted on the wall through two pre-drilled holes. There is some paint on the bell and wood. Where someone painted around it when it was mounted on a wall. This should be very easy to clean up. I left the paint on it, in case someone wants this unit in it's untouched condition. The case and bell are in excellent structural condition. I verified that the bell works by connecting the wires to a 9v battery. The striker rapidly hits the bell while the electrical current is connected. It looks and sounds great! Not even sure where to start to describe this. Would start of with awesome and that pictures don’t do it justice. Have posted several angles so hope it catches most of the intricacy and beauty of the thing. I have no idea of its age. But is not new by far. Is unique and haven’t found another like it for comparison. Though I’m sure there are many much more knowledgeable folks out there then I on such things. This one is made of solid brass. Has a winged Harpy figure displayed majestically out front with a reoccurring two headed serpent theme threw out piece. Is really quite intricate design. The knocker is on a balance rod with hammer on one end and chain and pull balancing on the other ... moreend. Seems to be in excellent shape. Measurements. First the over all dimensions including chain pull with balance knocker level are 18 inches x 7½ x 8½:Not including chain. Main body is 12 inches from top to bottom. Antique / Vintage Traditional Irish Claddagh Brass Door Knocker
This is an Antique/ Vintage Traditional Irish Claddagh Motif Solid Brass Door Knocker. The Claddagh symbolism often seen on Irish Claddagh rings has the traditional elements of hands. Heart, and crown, incorporating themes of Love, Friendship, and Loyalty. Detailed history and other information can be found from a variety of sources online. At the top, the knocker also has a traditional Irish harp motif as seen. The door knocker is about 5 1/4" tall and 4 1/4" wide. It weighs 14 ounces. Just under a pound, and it has a very nice heavy feel. The person I bought the knocker from felt it might be as early as turn of the 2oth Century but I do not know at all if that attribution is correct and we are not making any specific claims about the age. I will note however. That I saw several vintage Claddagh knockers that looked very similar ... moreon the front but different on the back with a completely different maker's mark than the CM mark in the casting on the back of this one as seen. I thought that might suggest this was a relatively older example, but again, I do not know for sure. The threaded, headless bolts for the knocker and the included brass strike plate look to me like they might not be as old as the rest of the knocker, but I do not know for sure. Condition Overall the knocker is in excellent condition and we will guarantee your satisfaction in that regard. The only issue I noted. A very minor one, is that there was some slight evidence of the strike plate being hit by the knocker leading to the conclusion that the knocker was installed and used at some time. It does have very little oxidation(plastic does have a couple of holes in it) On the back of the hanger it has a sticker that reads. Up for auction is a vintage iron door knocker in the character of a rope attached to an anchor. There are no hallmarks or patent numbers so I do not know who made it or how old it is. I am not sure if this would be considered cast iron or hand hammered. The third photo is a close up that may help to answer that question. The condition appears to be pretty good overall with some rusting as would be expected and some soiling as well. Looking at the first photo. This measures roughly 8" vertical at its longest point and about 4 1/4" horizontal at its widest point at the bottom. This dolphin door knocker weighs almost two pounds and is 8inches long. The separate piece has the original tag on it but even with a magnifying glass I can't make out the whole name. I do know that it starts with'Wind- Sorry. This is a beautiful piece that was in with an estate purchase. Each little round piece takes 3 screws and they are wrapped in wax paper and will be sent with it. This auction is for a Hubley Black Cast Iron Door Knocker in very good antique condition. There is some oxidation as you can see from the picture but it isn't chipping any away anywhere on it. It depics a flower basket with flowers in it and tied with a bow. The number 124 or stamped on both pieces though a little hard to read the 4. It measrues 3 7/8 by 2 1/8 wide. This Vintage Doorbell has great Art Deco style and a wonderful deep-throated vintage doorbell sound. Pulling the lever on the outside of the door causes the shaft to turn. Which rings the bell. The front section is Cream colored metal with a mirror. The ball on the handle is bakelite and the rest of handle appears to be brass or brass finish. This doorbell is in great condition. The mirror is not perfect as to its age but could easily be replaced. I can just imagine some woman checking her hair or lipstick before answering the door. Could use a cleaning. Very rare Maine estate find. A large sized Hubley Cast Iron Doorknocker in it's original Robin's Egg Blue Paint! Measures 6 3/4" long by 5" wide, retains most of it's original paint colors which are still very vivid and bright. The knocker is in the form of a large basket of flowers, painted red, yellow, with green foliage. The basket and bow are in the blue paint color. There is light surface wear and dust, but patina is original and untouched. This is not a reproduction and guaranteed authentic, circa 1920. This is a substantial door knocker. Dates can be between 1840 and my research says about 1900, though of the 2 dates I would edge earliest. In Cast iron with the extremely rare retaining piece. By Archibald Kenrick& Sons the"No 3" refers to its pattern number and is obscured when the knocker is installed. Please be aware this is a substantial piece of ironwork that should be used only on a door capable of taking it. I have removed the paint it needs to be painted and is ready for your primer. This 100 plus year old. Victorian door knocker is a"knock-out" for sure! With the Cerebus, Hades, tails and claws in such evidence, this could be perfectly situated for the highest bidder of this fabulous find! Measuring 11 1/2 inches tall, it, indeed, has a presence. It was acquired from an incredible person of all treasures collectible, and has wonderful patina. Connell's Connell Patent 1873 Victorian Mechanical Doorbell w/ Original Striker
This is an outstanding old doorbell. It measures 3 3/4" in diameter. The original striker is present and measures 5 7/8" long and 2 3/4" wide. The bell is in excellent condition. I cleaned some old paint off of the iron back flange very gentiy and kept the patina intact. The bell itself is very clean with no corrosion or plating loss. The striker has its original nickel plating. The pic is a bit washed out- the plating is intact but a bit darker than the bell. I did not polish either piece.
