The handle has a ruler that measures up to 7" The length of the net measures 23 1/2" long and 10 1/2" at the widest point. The net drops 18" all measurements are approximate) There is also a cord that runs through a hole on the handle. The length is 20" The varnish could be redone if you want it to look pristine. Mahi-Mahi Catch Flag* HELLO! For your consideration is a vintage Mahi-Mahi Catch Flag used to inform others that a Mahi-Mahi was caught. The flag was flown from a high point on the boat so other fishermen/women could see it and admire the captain for his/her choice of fishing area. It goes back to the old days before radios were common in boats. This would single the others on the fishing grounds and in the harbour what fish were caught(before catch and release was common) so the weigh master could get the scales ready. The flag was purchased in the early 1980s after my husband caught a Mahi-Mahi in Maui. The flag was made by the N.A. Taylor Co. Inc. and is 100% nylon. It measures approx. 11.5 x 17.75. Measures as follows: Approximately 14.5 x 12 x 5 inches. This was previously used for holding art supplies so there are a few paint splotches on the inside. The closures hold securely. I tried to remove the sticker w/ Goo Gone since it was already peeling off but it wouldn't budge. I've washed the inside. The postage may seem steep but the post office rates went up 1/27/13.
