Antique Carved Wood,Wooden Wash Bowl Stand-Serpent,Tree of Life-Oriental,Asian?
This is an antique carved wooden table or stand in very nice condition. I'm not sure if the wrought iron legs are original or not. But this is the way we found it. It has a spider crack split in the center part, looks like a split from age. There are 4 different carved tree like designs on the 4 corners, and the entire outside edge is a snake or serpent with scales and the point sticking out on the sides are supposed to be the heads. The raised round center part looks like it may have been for a wash bowl or perhaps it held a Chinese art pottery vase or vessel. I don't know the exact age but it does look like it could be an Asian piece. It is approx. 16 1/4in. by 16 1/2in. and standsust under 32in. tall. This listing is for an absolutely GORGEOUS long antique shelf. Oak is ALL tiger quartersawn wood. The entire shelf is oak and it's in wonderful condition with no damage. It came right off my own wall. It has dentil molding along front with no breakage or damage. It has two graceful brackets. Top is lovely and has a small oak edge strip to keep things from falling off. Measures 41" long and shelf top is 7" deep. Height is about 9" This one won't disappoint. I would be ideal as a fireplace mantel because of the substantial length. Though I've used it to hold pottery. I've had it for nearly 30 years but have downsized to smaller quarters. Grain is beautiful. I have always hung from two hangers on back with picture hooks; not so heavy that it is hard to manage.

Note that a similar full-sized stand is shown next to the diminutive stand we're selling in one photo. The full sized stand is shown for scale comparison only and is not part of the lot. View our other listings for other fine pieces from this collection. Fresh from an estate collection of antique salesman's samples is this diminutive Sheraton-style dropleaf stand! As you can see in the photos. This diminutive dropleaf night stand(or dropleaf side table) maintains the fine craftsmanship details of a full-size example- and moreso! The beautiful rope legs gently taper, giving the piece both lightness and elegance. The face of the stand has two drawers with all of their veneer intact along with the original hardware. Each dropleaf folds smoothly from vertical to horizontal. We're not certain if it's American, English, or Continental, ... morebut what is clear is that the craftsman who made this did so with the utmost care as a demonstration of his skill(which includes the dovetail joints) The stand measures just 22 3/16" in height, 13 3/8" in width(with the leaves dropped) and 12" in depth. That's about 1/2 scale compared to a normal sized stand. The top of the stand or table measures 26-1/8" x 12" with both leaves raised. Top top and both leaves are all original single boards. We don't have the expertise to accurately date this stand, but we can confidently say that it is at least a hundred years old. It is in very good antique condition, with typical light wear and oxidation in the wood from a century of display and use. One of the leaf brackets is missing, but fortunately the other provides a template to replace it. If you're a collector of Sheraton-style furniture or looking for the new centerpiece of your collection of salesman samples, then you'll love this rare and desirable mini masterpiece! I purchased this gorgeous mirror at an estate sale several years ago. It has serve our family well as an entry way welcome. I don't have any history on this piece other than what I was told. Its from the late 1800's( as told) I don't know if the mirror is original or not. It is beveled and has no chips. The mirror is framed in intricate wood beading. The large frame of the mirror has a carved edge and has applied carved leaf like wood. There are 6 hooks- two of those hooks( in the center of the frame) are doubled. All have a some small paint on them in red and blue. They are painted gold and a magnet does stick. The hooks look like butterfly wings or fairy wings. They are casted and will be removed and shipped separately through USPS. Measuring the hat rack end to end is 38 inches long and 31 inches tall and 1 inch thick. These are rarely seen and desirable to collectors of 19th century Victorian furnishings. From the popular imagination. Authored by the Brothers Grimm, a fairy tale iron umbrella stand. Nearly 55 pounds, 38.5 inches tall by 21 inches wide with removable tray. This one with original paint- others found on the internet- and there are only 2-3 others total to be found. It consists of 4 separate components bolted ... moretogether with the fifth being the removable tray with handle. The TOP MONEY item of 200 pieces offered. This one has two notable condition problems which I will leave to the buyer. 1) A piece of iron is missing at the back. Stage right, mostly hidden by the tray and barely visible when displayed, but it is a notable loss: SEE LAST IMAGE. 2) The center standard has a break near the middle. It is a perfect break and detectable only by the crack line. This center standard is completely removable and may be isolated on a workbench to effect an easier repair. I have been advised to use JB Weld on the back for a permanent repair but this is such an outstanding antique I will leave it to the buyer and their archivist to resolve. This is from a local estate and has been in the same family since the late 1800's. The 2 brass supports or holders are stamped Pat'd Dec.8th 1891. It is about 5' tall. This has not been refinished or altered. Condition seems all original. There are a couple of paint spots on the lower bar. The wood is dried out and needs reconditioning. But is not cracked. All the fittings, including screws are brass. I will try to ship this UPS. Shipping will be $40.00. If it turns out less. I will refund the difference.

19th Century Antique American Rococo Revivial Rosewood and Maple Etagere, Meeks
An American Rococo Revival rosewood and maple étagère. Circa 1845– 1860. Possibly J. and J.W. Meeks. Carved urn and C-scroll crest over a domed mirror with C-scroll frame flanked by shelves with undulating edges and elaborate scroll work. The shelves are supported by spool turned poles topped with urn finials. The center step top base has a variegated black marble top with undulating edge flanked by two undulating tops with gadrooned edges. The center has a door with elaborate scroll fretwork opening to reveal a maple interior with undulating shelves. The legs are a dramatic cabriole shape ending in scroll feet. The apron is carved with a floral and scroll edge. A scroll carved cross stretcher conjoins with a central open urn. Measurements: 110” H x 44” W x 25” deep, approximately. It has been recently cleaned and had a few minor issues repaired by a local New Orleans antique repair person. And it's ready to display in that special home. I found this at an antique market in Strasbourg. Alsace, France. It was a beer tap and we still have the faucet attached on one side. The faucet is brass and the handle is black metal. We left this in its original condition. This tap functions wonderfully as an umbrella stand even though it does not have a bottom. The base color is a creamy white with green line accents. The center part is beautifully decorated with a hunt setting showing a bugling stag and deer in a forest setting under an oak tree. The top rim is decorated for bird hunters. It shows various species of birds in flight. It is hallmarked with a green Villeroy& ... moreBoch Mattlach hallmark. It also says made in Saar-Basin. Actually replicates the wood of a tree! This is a pierced cast iron hall tree with the original oval mirror in the middle. The base has a removable shell that has has"Pat'd Nov 16'58" in raised letters that grows up the notched trunk to ornate branches and leaves that sport 8 double hooks. There is no maker's mark. The hall tree is missing a 2 ring umbrella stand. It has age appropriate patina with a small amount of rust. The mirror has a bit of silvering.
