Antique Oak Entry Hall Tree With Storage Bench & Beveled Mirror & Butterfly Hook
For your consideration is this Very Nice Antique Oak Entry Hall Tree. I have been told it dates back to the late 1800s. But i am not sure, could be the early 1900s?There are no markings on it that i can see. The Hall Tree is in excellent condition, is very solid, and has a nice aged Patina look. It is about 82-3/4" tall, 24 to 26" wide(at different levels) and 15" deep. The Beveled Mirror is about 17 1/4" wide and 35" high and in very good condition for its age. There are 6 Coat, Cap Hooks, the two on top are Butterfly Hooks( unusual& rare) see picture 5, I have never seen these before or after we got this one) I don't know if they were on the Hall Tree from day one or if someone added them later, they are old and they compliment the attractive decorative carvings on top, plus they do match the cutout pattern ... moreabove the seat perfectly.see picture 3) The Bench Seat has storage space under the lid. One-of-a-kind Arts& Crafts oak hall tree. Bold straight lines frame a large mirror and are masterfully carved with geometric patterns. Carving continues throughout the piece. Including the surfaces of the sides, legs and drawer and framing the overhanging molded top. Complementary decorative brass hangers and drawer pulls. Up for YOUR bidding PLEASURE is; Wonderfully executed plaster on Mahogany hall mirror. As you can see by the photo's? It is well executed. But simple. It has the Center highlights at the top. Corner embellishments top and bottom. With flowers on each side and at the center base. All the raised portions have a red and a green added for effect to show off the flowering flows. The flat(not really flat. More like concaved) panels all have a stipples color effect. And it looks GREAT! This is a lost art. Sure it could be gilded. ANYONE can do that. But to do old style bronzing then add colors? Oh yeah and have it ALL on raised platforms? You just don't find that quality anymore. The two top corners are NOT identical. I have no clue why. I have examined it carefully, I see no breaks. When I first bought the mirror? I thought the top right ... morecorner had some material missing. And got a better deal when I mentioned it to the seller. Upon getting it home? I found it was that way from the maker. Perhaps a pc fell out before it was fully decorated. Best answer I have for that. The rear is missing it's original paper covering. someone looking for a lost art of cash) Personally? I hate it when they do that. I believe there were either planks or a single piece of thin plywood originally. Now there is a pc of cardboard from the 1940's or 50's. Here come the measurements. Now for the decoration measurement's; Side floral areas are- 6" Tall same with the very bottom one Bottom corners are- 4 3/8" Tall. The TOP ones are- 6 1/8" on the left side and 6 3/8" on the right side. Both are top corner measurement's. This is a very nice antique oak hall tree. I'm not sure of the exact date. But likely very early 1900s. I believe it to be an American made piece. It is made of solid quarter sawn oak. It has been refinished. Pretty carving work at the top. Mirror and hooks appear original. Beveled mirror is in excellent condition with one small area near the top showing de-silvering. Drip pan is missing, but one could be added. Hall tree is in very good to excellent condition overall. A narrow piece for a small area! The base does not have the lift up seat. The drip pan is not original, but works very well. Being offered for sale is this wonderful Victorian Walnut Wall Hall Tree Coat Rack with Mirror and Storage circa 1880. This lovely 19th century Hat/ Coat Rack features beautiful two toned walnut.Pierced carvings& rosettes, 7 turned hat/ coat pegs and a sweet little lift up storage compartment below the mirror. This hall rack measures 52 1/2 inches in height.33 inches wide and 7 1/4 inches in total depth and weighs approximately 25 lbs. The mirror portion measures 16 1/4 inches high by 9 1/2 inches wide. Each of the turned hat coat hooks protrude out 5 3/4 inches and the little storage compartment measures 14 1/4 inches wide by 6 inches deep. This hall rack would be a wonderful addition placed at an entrance way to keep those jackets and coats handy. Gilded brass coat hooks and lift top seat with storage below. It has applied carvings at the crest, surrounding the top hooks, on the back, under the arms and at the bottom center on the seat skirt. The manufacturer is unidentified. Measurements: Height: 79� overall Width: 38-1/2� at base(widest points) Depth: 17-3/4� overall� Top of Seat From Floor: 17-1/2� Lift-top of Seat: 22-1/2� x 13� It is being offered as we found it. It has had 3 screws recently added to the arms(one on one side. Two on the other side) and one in the base. There are small chips from the wood on the inside of the arm supports which goes unnoticed due to location and doesn’t ... morebother structurally. Two old chips on back of one arm are present(see picture number 13) but is fairly insignificant as they have developed a matching patina and it adds a little character and testament to its age. The mirror appears to be original and never been re-silvered. It isn’t perfect. It shows some streaking and specks, but considering age it isn’t bad. The hall tree retains it’s original finish which is in very nice condition and shows only very minor wear considering age. Other than the added screws mentioned above. It is completely original. This piece is a rare find. It is a tall. Solid standing Victorian Hall Mirror, japanned mahogany, with incredible detail in the carvings throughout, particularly on the top and bottom. There is a great, very functional shelf along the bottom, perfect for a light or candlesticks or to throw your keys down onto when you come inside. The effect of this piece is both masculine and feminine at the same time-masculine because of the size and color, feminine because there is always something feminine in Victorian styling. It is the best of Victorian furniture-practical and beautiful, unusual, austere and yet whimsical. In excellent repair. For shipping, I recommend TSC Movers or Uship. STUNNING EDWARDIAN STERLING SOLID SILVER DRESSING TABLE MIRROR 1901 WALKER HALL
Description Welcome to my auction. For a truly elegant Antique Edwardian sterling solid silver table/ dressing table mirror. Being a superb shape. Fully Hallmarked- Sheffield 1901. Silversmiths Makers mark- W&H" Walker& Hall. The solid silver frame is decorated with lovely repousse silver work of flowers. Acanthus leaves& scrolls. With no splits or holes in the silver. The emerald green velvet back is in very good condition for its age with no rips or tears& still quite sumptious& vibrant in colour. The original bevelled edge mirror is clear with very minimal age wear& is supported by an easel stand. Absolutely Stunning. The velvet edge which surrounds the solid silver frame has become flat due to cleaning with colour loss. This does not detract in any way. There is evidence that the easel support has at sometime ... morein its life been stood out to far causing a crease to the top of the support. The easel still supports well. There is glue residue where the little silk ribbon has been stuck back down to prevent over extension of the support. Again quite minor& mention for accuracy. Measurements: Approx 10" inches or 25 cms tall X 12.5" inches or 32 cms wide. A beautiful& ornate antique mirror that would stand out proudly& grace any table/dressing table. Antique Oak Hall Tree w. Beveled Mirror, circa 1900
This is a very unusual hall tree. I have never seen one quite like it. There are flat grooved columns on each side with hooks at top, they are connected to back with a shelf. Applied carving adorns the crest with hook on each side. Instead of the typical lift up lid there is a large drawer at the bottom w. brass handle pull. on the left side behind column is an umbrella holder with original drip pan. The shaped beveled mirror is original, hence there are a few spots and streaks, but doesn't detract from the looks. Total width, including umbrella holder, is 39" depth is 18" height is 80-1/2" We have not refinished this hall tree, the finish appears to be original and is quite good, the piece is structurally strong as well.
