Rare Victorian Renaissance Revival Pedestal - Ebonized, Incised And Gilded
Offered for auction is this massive Renaissance Revival Victorian pedestal. It is larger that the pictures make it look. But I have to stand back to get it all in the photo. Made of solid walnut with ebonized and gilded details. Also has incised carving on the base. Original finish. Mostly likely had a stone or marble top at one point, but someone has done a really nice job of adding a walnut top to the piece. This is not a recent addition and appears to have been done many years ago. Pedestals frequently would get bumped or knocked over damaging the stone tops. Suspect that may have happened here. This is a very substantial piece, perfect to display that special art object. Somewhat unusual form that would also work well in an Eastlake Aesthetic period interior. Some minor gilding loss, especially on the base(see photos) and some scuffs/scratches ... moreto the base. There also appears to be some detail missing from either side of the pedestal in the middle(see last photo) but unsure what this would have been and it does not detract, I owned this piece for awhile before I even realized that this little detail was gone. I mention these things to be accurate, but this is an outstanding piece and none of these issues(which are age appropriate) detract from the beauty of this pedestal. Stands 34" tall by 17" across at the top. The base is 13" across. Shipping will be more due to the weight and size of this pedestal. Will be carefully wrapped and boxed. This week we have this gorgeous Antique. 19th Century, intricately hand carved figural table or pedestal. This piece is deeply carved in a figural cherub/puti with foral& vines pillars, and swirling serpants at his feet. It measures 35" x 18 1/2" x 18 1/2" I believe this piece is French. We purchased several 18th and 19th century items from this same estate and most items were French. As you can see from the pictures the finish is original and is very old, it is uneven on the top(please see photos) there are also chips and rubs to the top. Fancy Antique Brass Cast Iron & Oak Adjustable English Book Music Stand
For your consideration is this very nice antique book stand. It features brass and cast iron construction and was made by Carters Ltd of London. I believe it likely dates to either the very end of the 19th century or near the beginning of the 20th. The fully adjustable oak shelf tilts and swivels and will slide the full length of it's shaft support. The chased brass vertical upright is fully adjustable for height and sits on a fancy cast iron claw and ball footed base. The book shelf which measures 14x9" can be adjusted from 23" to 44" in height and is 33" as shown. The horizontal support is 15" long and the cast iron base is 13x13" Everything remains in very nice functional condition. There is one small area of wear to the brass wrap right at the 90 degree angle of the upright pole. Nothing that detracts ... morewhatsoever. This one is as fancy as it is heavy and stable. Wonderful antique Victorian cast iron and walnut bible/book stand for your consideration. These are much harder to find in walnut. The stand is completely portable and breaks down in seconds. All adjustments are easy to make and work like it was made yesterday. All pictures were taken before cleaning just after I found it in a barn here in Amherst. NH. Barn dates from the late 1700s and the homestead was once owned by a man of the cloth adding a little nostalgia to the piece. Will make a wonderful addition to any decor from primitives to industrial and steampunk. I've had a few of these in the past and this by far is nicest fully working example I've found. Antique English Pine Pedestal Hall Stands Circa 1800s
These are two great and beautiful English antique pine pedestal stands. The tags on one of them are shown. Sold by Mike Bell Antiques to the famous Boston interior designer William Hodgins. Not sure how they ended up in Central PA. Purchased them at auction earlier this Summer. In some correspondence with a rep at Mike Bell. They guessed that they are from Western England and date from the mid-to late1800s. I am guessing that the tops are a later addition based on wider growth rings in the pine and by the tool marks. See images for condition. Three of the rosettes on one pedestal are broken(see images) Measure 38" tall. Mirror itself does have a couple of small dark spots from the silvering deteriorating, overall it is still very clear. Solid oak frame is very well made and heavy. These are getting harder and harder to find and this is a fine example of one. Believed to be made by the firm of Kimble and Cabus of NY circa 1870 at the height of the Renaissance movement. It screams quality. I believe under the Ebonized finish is solid cherry or walnut. The finish is incredible I just went over it with a fine tooth comb. The brass feet are original down to the patina on them. This is a large model it measures 40 inches tall, sixteen inches deep, and 20 inches wide. This is a fantastic original antique Bradley& Hubbard two tier marble top plant stand in excellent condition throughout. All brass is excellent with nothing broken or missing. All pieces screw tightly together, and both tiers are numbered 1577 underneath and the top is signed B&H under the marble piece. All brass pieces are incredibly ornate. The marble is also excellent with no cracks or noticeable chips, but one of the corners has a tiny flake missing, and the bottom edge where is rests on the stand has a few tiny flakes. The bottom of the marble has pencil markings that are difficult to read, but I can make out"Mrs. Henry Schmidt, Manitowoc, WIS" and it looks like it has a signature on the bottom. 1890 English Hall Stand with Beveled Mirror, 5 Tiles and 6 brass-porclean hooks
This Hall Tree is in execellent condition even after traveling by ship from England to Australia at the turn of the 20th century. My Mom purchased the Hall Stand while teaching in Australia and brought it to California by ship in 1975. This stand is in perfect condition with a beveled mirror. Two umbrella bins, 5 original tiles, 6 brass hooks and porcelain knobs(two hooks are doubles) Dimensions: 18"x 36" x 102" The hooks are not mounted in the picture for easy transport but are on top of the glove drawer. Antique Book/Music Stand. Adjustable. Desks & Secretaries and Wood & Metal
Antique stand is adjustable. Brass or bronze metal on real early Masonite painted back. It appears to be a shellac finish, and the early Masonite originally came out in 1906 and was patented a few years later. I'm thinking 1920's to 40's when it was made. Folds and bends into a multitude of position's. It's quite a unique stand. I have looked hard to see a similar item and haven't since acquiring it. Condition is good, not great. It's a bit worn from age but no real damage anywhere on it that I have noticed except 2 corners slightly chipped/worn, little dusty. The are quite a few possible uses for this because of the design.
