Therefore we have all of the stair face trim as well as the original posts that have not been altered and are present as original. The lower rail on the right side as pictured was broken(easily repaired) as were some of the lower sections of the skirt boards during removal(the skirts were scissor cut around the treads and risers) We have all of the pieces for a full and complete restoration of this stair railing. Antique Australian Cedar Clerks Desk Stand Up Ipad Rest table Tablet 1880's This amazing Clerk's desk is Around 130- 140 years old and is made of the Australian timber known as red Australian Cedar or Red Gold. Its former botanical name was Toona Australis now Toona Ciliata. It is a timber rich in virtues. Scented, soft to the touch, easy to work, resistant to insect and fungal attack, it was the preferred timber for the cabinet making industry until the last of the great stands of trees were cut down at the turn of the century. This is one of the nicest examples of a clerks desk i have seen. They are coming into their own these days with the invention of the touchscreen computer they make the ideal stand up desk and Ipad rest. The stand up desk is becoming a modern icon of inner city and office living for example http:www.entrepreneurs-journey.com/11687/stand-up-desk/ ... morethere are dozens of blogs and web pages celebrating the benefits of standing up to work a practice that was once common and now coming back into vogue. This one measure 795mm wide across the top. 640mm deep, 292mm high at the back and 212mm high at the front. It has an excellent slop ideal for writing on or resting your touch screen tablet on. The two drawers at the front are partitioned internally and ideal for keeping those pesky accessories in. The rear section underneath is capacious and provides the type of storage much lacking in a modern desk. It is in excellent condition with the kind of patination that you would expect from 140 years of use. It has a couple of spots where it has been gouged and repaired with the appropriate colour putty. it all adds to the charm and fascination of the piece. It has no legs so it is ideal for placing on an existing table to elevate it to stand up height. Commercially available stand up desks are expensive. They lack style but they are very ergonomic. 1950's Day-Bed/Lounge- GENUINE VINTAGE piece. Snelling. Retro Mid-Century.

The photos or text can not be used without prior written consent from the owner. iNVISeDGE Provenance and Description When I closed iNVISeDGE in Sydney and moved interstate. There were about ten items in storage that purposely stayed there because they were out of the ordinary. This piece is one of them. After a short break from my business I’ve come back and my feeling about this piece is the same. I believe this red webbed lounge/day bed was done by Douglas Snelling and I also believe it is a piece he designed specifically for a client’s home. In my opinion this piece dates back to 1950-1954. The fact that this piece is Silky Oak solidifies this judgement. I have very rarely seen Silky Oak timber used in Australian furniture post-1950. In Douglas Snelling’s early work Silky Oak was sometimes ... moreused but usually along with other timbers in the single piece/chair. I also believe this to be one of Douglas Snelling’s commissioned pieces because of the original plastic webbing. This webbing was used only in the early 1950’s- I have never seen it used after about 1959 and I have never seen this exact webbing used by another furniture manufacturer. This lounge was purchased in Sydney which only helps my opinion because Snelling only worked in Sydney. Additionally, wider reading of Australian vintage furniture reveals that when Snelling qualified as an architect in 1950 he worked little for Functional Products and his architectural business became his full-time occupation. At this time Snelling continued to design furniture to complement his architecture. This piece doesn’t have a Functional Products label on it and it shouldn’t either. Also the idea of someone getting this amount of the plastic webbing from Functional Products to make this single lounge and then build it using techniques shown in Snelling’s work doesn’t make sense especially considering Snelling himself was building one-off pieces like this for client’s homes. Antique Weis 6 Drawer Wooden Flat File Cabinet Desk Counter Top Document
Circa 1910 Weis document file cabinet for a desk or countertop. Has it's original mahogany finish(though I think the wood is actually birch) By this time in our country's manufacturing age cabinet woods were starting to get pricey. Furniture manufacturers were starting to use veneers and stains to simulate more expensive solid wood. The start of the Industrial Age to 1910 saw the diminishment of our great forrest stands of timber. This cabinet boasts it's original label on the top as well as original file drawer pulls. The drawers fronts have light finish loss. Please use the magnify feature to see this. Luckily none of the previous owners used any type of permanent paper in the file slots inside the drawer pulls. The inside bottom of all of the drawers have a hole so that legal documents could be stored that took up all of the ... moredrawers interior volume. You would pull the drawer open and insert your finger underneath and up through the hole to lift the pile of documents so that you just slide off the amount that you needed without wrinkling the documents. This cabinet measures 10 1/2" tall. 9 13/16" wide and 15 7/8" deep including the drawer pulls. The drawers measure 1" deep, 8 5/8" wide and 14 1/4" deep. The drawer measurements are the usable interior dimensions. The drawers are for the most part are very clean with just one of them having a small amount of dry residue. The drawers do not have any odor. The exterior of the cabinet is of fingerjoint construction with the inerior drawers being nailed. The exterior joints are very solid. The cabinet has various light scratches and some pinpoint paint drips. The top has a very small area of finish loss. The sides near the front of the cabinet have some slight finish loss as well. Facing the cabinet, it's right side has some finish loss along the bottom edge. This same side has a tight crack about 1 1/2" long coming up from the bottom. it is not very noticeable. Antique club lounge. Still in very good condition. It was re-sprung and re-covered about 20 years ago. The structure of the suite is still excellent, solid and without movement. Vintage Chinese carved relief panel camphor drop front desk would be a great addition to your home. The carving on all the panels except the top surface of this beautiful deck depicts pictures of China's landscape. The hand made construction of this chest is unique. The joinery of the joints and the fitting of the drawers is characteristic of early piece of Chinese furniture. The interior compartment of this desk consists a large writing surface with eight pigeon holes with one drawer. The lower part of this desk has four smaller drawers with one large drawer. This gorgeous desk is beautifully proportioned. And has the elegance and style so often associated with Louis XV pieces. The desk has 5 drawers and stands on solid, carved cabriole legs, with ball and claw feet. It features tasteful applied decoration to the drawer-fronts and to the sides of ... morethe desk. It also has a shaped surface, indented at both the back and the front. The most impressive feature is the triple panels of tooled leather inserts in a deep, rich burgundy tone. The desk is of solid timber construction, not veneer, and would grace any home or office. The desk was hand-selected on our recent trip to Europe, and is SO pretty and functional. EXCEPTIONAL TWO PIECE MILITARY CAMPAIGN DESK BUREAU C 1890
SEE MY OTHER SALES FOR MORE ITEMS A very original campaign desk as would have been used by the British military in the late 19th century and early 20th century. It comes in two sections as shown in the images. It is made of English oak and is in great condition. The only damage being the deterioration of the leather desk top area as well as some small wood loss around a screw hole on the bottom gallery, again see images for detail. It has a row of 4 pull down flaps with drawers at each end and above and these in turn have titles to indicate what can be kept in them. Above these are sectioned pockets for envelopes, paperwork etc. There is no key. It was purchased from a recently arrived English family who said it belonged to their Great great Grandfather who was a serving British military officer and it travelled with him around the globe ... moreon various missions he was undertaking for the British Government and it is thought that he was a sea captain. There was no proof of this but I had no reason to not believe it. It's exactly the kind of thing it would have been made for, coming in an easy demountable two piece sectional construction and having the flush none catching inserted brass handles for ease of transportation. Also, the way the legs are splayed out would indicate this was made to give better stability for say on board a ship. The timber frame is beautiful, with sweeping curved form and quality hand-carved decoration, featuring scrolls and leaves, to the top of each piece with aspects of the design repeated on the skirt. Each piece stands on carved cabriole legs, with lovely flowing form. The upholstering is a real stand-out in fabric which is virtually impossible to get these days. The suite is all fully sprung for comfort. The settee of this exquisite setting measures approximately 124cm in length and is 92cm in height to the top of the central carved feature. The most wonderful feature of this desk is the fact that the surface is constructed of oak planks. Not a single piece of timber. The result is a mix of gorgeous grains and feature timber. The desk stands on stunning turned, reeded legs, and has three drawers on each side, and a large central drawer. Each drawer front features ornate carving around the escutcheon. The raised attitional drawer bank is a wonderful feature and consists of two smaller side drawers and a wider central drawer. There are two original keys for the desk, though locks have seized up over time. This is a large and impressive piece! The desk itself measures 137cm wide. 84cm deep and 75cm high. The overall height extends to 101.5cm including the detachable drawers on the top. This gorgeous desk is scarce. And has character and charm in abundance!
