It's unmarked as to maker. I think it's likely circa early to mid-1900s. I believe it's in original condition. It has one interior. Multi-sectioned drawer on hinges(in need of minor repair-see below) It's constructed of walnut veneer with cedar lining, and secondary hardwood(s) The back is unfinished. Wonderful for storage and display or seating, it's both beautiful and superbly useful. CONDITION: Overall. I think it's in nice vintage condition. Solid and sturdy. Only the tiniest bit of veneer loss that I can see: a few tiny chips along the back edge. Minor nicks, imperfections normal to vintage furniture. It does have some flaws: 1) the top surface has superficial scratches and age-related splits in the veneer(but they seem shallow enough to me that I think just polyurethane(were the top refinished) and/or a walnut-tone pore filler would be enough to fill them for a flawless(or nearly so) top. 2) In the interior. Lid, left side, the wood affixing the screw supporting the pull-out shelf is stripped(please see photos; the drawer is just propped in place in the photo) so is in need of this repair. I'd probably suggest filling the oversized hole with wood scraps and glue to fill, then redrilling the hole(possibly a larger screw would work) this is left to the buyer. 3) The locks on these old chests pose a safety hazard to children(won't open from within; children can suffocate inside) and can't be sold with the lock in place. I've removed and discarded it. Leaving just the hardware(for aesthetics) so it simply opens and closes, and can be opened from inside. THANK YOU. Here is a stunning and very desirable approximately 150 year old antique Japanese small Choba tansu. Or merchant's chest, dating from the Meiji Era around the mid to late 1800's, featuring a lock bar in the center and classical safe compartment at the bottom right. It boasts a natural light colour with a rich honey patina, beautifully shaped hand forged iron hardware, wood peg construction and 8 drawers of various sizes that provide versatile storage options including a full width drawer at the top. It is in excellent overall condition for it's age. But has a little lock issue: as there is no key and the top drawer lock is in the closed position with the drawer open it will not shut all the way. The safe compartment has a tendency to swing open by itself since there is no key to lock it. The lock issue does NOT affect the lock bar which slides in and out of place properly. Please read the description and examine the photos for more details on the condition. Locksmiths and larger antique dealers will own sets of multiple keys to fit a broad range of locks so you should be able to get the drawer unlocked easily enough so it slides into place. With a little patience you could also find an antique key that fits right here on ebay(I can recommend a seller who regularly stocks this type of item) Other small issues worth noting are a small repair in the bottom corner of the smallest drawer just above the safe compartment. The larger top drawer is stiff to open and close due to age and needs a tweak, and one corner plate in the back is bent out of shape. Given it's age there is some wearing off of the blackening of a few small spots of the iron, and a couple of small nails are missing. Genuine Cedaroma Chest Solid White Cedar. This is what it is called I believe because of the inside. It is made by Franklin Shockey Co. out of Lexington NC. Still has original Moth warranty paper attached. Please look at pictures carefully. Item has not been restored and has scratches and a bruise or two. Inside is in good condition. Latches very well, no key. All hinges are in tack. 41.5 inches long. 18 inches wide, 20.5 inches tall. Very nice restorable item or could leave as is with all the character. I like it just the way it is. This would be great to put in a log cabin. This classic Chest in original condition, and it has a medium/dark Walnut stain finish color on the outside. See pictures. This Chest has interesting carved accents on the front. Odd things come in all the time and sometimes I have no clue what they are or where they come from. This is a wooden box made from cedar with the words River Pilot Chart Chest stamped in ink on it. I have held this item for two years now and looked all over online to see if this was a mass marketed item like with Time Life books or some Franklin Mint type of market gimmick. Since there are no pictures like it or other items for sale like it anywhere online I can only assume that it is either real and rare or some kind of fantasy item. Boston, MA" The Paine Furniture Company was founded in Boston. Ma in 1835 by Leonard Shearer. In 1835 Boston was a small city, but the furniture industry was rapidly growing and in 1872 Shearer opened an huge Paine Furniture Co. Furniture Center. By 1914 Paine Furniture was operating from a ten-story showroom and factory. This fine blanket chest is executed in mahogany with a wonderful cedar lining that offers a lift out cedar tray. This large chest offers a tremendous amount of storage possibilities and features full ebonized Corinthian columns with gold accents at the top and base. This chest measures 28 3/4 inches in height.46 inches wide and 21 inches deep and weighs approximately 75 lbs. The lift our cedar tray measures 40 inches long,16 inches wide and 3 inches deep and features cut-out handles on each end. There are some veneer chips here and there on the lid edge and feet. The top does show surface scratches and a dark ring. Lock is intact but we do not have the key. On the inside of the lid by the lock there is additional wear and scratches around the brass lock and small metal braces have been added at some point in time to the right inside back corner. This chest is a wonderful piece to place at the foot of a bed for storage of blankets and linens and is solid and sturdy enough to be a seating area as well and offers substantial storage with classic style. Hello. You are viewing my sale for an Antique Sturdi Cedar Chest By Francis F. Hamilton. This is a"Margeret No. 580" according to the indentation on the bottom. This chest has an Early Patent Date of"Aug. 26, 1924" and the final date reads"March 9, 1926" These dates as well as others are indented on the bottom as well. This may have been a salesman sample of a larger size chest that was identical to this smaller chest. This is only my guess however. This chest measures when closed 4 and 1/2" tall by 12 and 3/4" long by 8 and 1/2" wide. On the interior there is a green felt fabric as well as a gold lace trim. There are the letters" K E V N" stuck to the interior section plastic dividers. This appears to be a modern add on for someone who owned this before. The trim and accents throughout ... morethis chest are amazing. The chest is in good condition with some minor wear present. The rear hinges are a little loose. I've put off listing this interesting& lovely cedar keepsake/jewelry chest because I love it. AND I'm uncertain of its authenticity to being true Bonnie Parker memorabilia. I just do not know enough about it to guarantee its authenticity. If it is, however, somebody will have a very important part of history, or at the very least, a wonderful conversation piece, as I have had. SO. Therefore, i t's being sold as is. Lined in silk or satin peach-colored material, dirty& stained from years of use, with a couple of ... morethe spots appearing to be what look like old blood stains. I had thought that a DNA test of the spots might reveal if this box actually belonged to Bonnie& Clyde. The little metal plaque on the lid had been rubbed clean at one time. To possibly reveal the name& date hand-etched into it, which reads: BONNIE PARKER 1932. there looks to be some patina on the plaque. Approximate measurements are: 10" x 8" x 4.5" high. It's a little difficult to measure since the wood is rounded on the ends& the top. There are some beautiful& ornate brass bands running across the top of the lid& on the front. The sides have ornate handles& the back is hinged. All of the brass looks original& in excellent condition. The latch on the front has a small brass padlock. Easily opened without a key. The cedar is thick& it has a beautiful grain& a few pretty knots. There is a stress crack running within the grain on the bottom, but it's a tight crack& only adds to the charm of this old chest. There are also two light manufacture stamps, one of numbers& one in a rectangle/square, but I can't read what it says, plus somebody wrote a price

We love these old cedar chests because they look so nice in rustic or log homes. We bring them back to the shop, sand the heck out of them to bring the old cedar back. Then we re-spray them to put a nice natural finish on them, and we leave the inside natural to make your clothes smell good. This one has the original tag showing it came from the Jacob Bloom Company, and I would probably date it from somewhere in the ballpark of the 1930s or‘40s. The overall size is 33 inches wide, 15 inches deep, and 16 inches high inside. When closed, it exposes the gorgeous knotty cedar look with a beveled edge top. Vintage Hinge Copper Heavy Duty Cedar-Chest Weber and Knapp
These heavy duty hinges were a find particularly after I wiped away some dirt to discover that they are copper. They are used for heavy duty furniture lids such as those found on cedar chests. The hinges are about 5" x 5" when opened. Please see pictures. They were made by Weber and Knapp and have a pat. no. 1857623. I have not seen them anywhere else. Genuine Roos Sweetheart Cedar Chest 1947 with Original Tags - Beautiful
Folks. Up for consideration is a Vintage 1947 Art Deco piece of beautiful furniture. This Vintage Cedar Chest created by Ed Roos and is called the Roos Sweetheart Cedar Chest Model 8009. This particular piece of furniture still has the original tags attached on the inside of the cedar chest. This Roos Sweetheart Chest was built in 1947 and sold at a cost of $250! The cedar chest as a whole is in good condition. The inside of the chest has a top tray lined in felt and the interior is lined with aromatic red cedar. The outside is constructed of hardwood veneersand does have its share of nicks and scratches being consistent with its age of over 65 years especially around the bottom side corners. Vintage Cavalier Cedar Chest - Walnut with Burled Inlay
Cavalier cedar chest. Cavalier cedar chests were built in Chattanooga. Tennessee from Tennessee red cedar by the Tennessee Furniture Company beginning in 1923. The Cavalier brand is considered the cadillac of cedar chests due to their superior craftsmanship. This is in excellent condition with no veneer loss. The wood is a walnut veneer and has a burled walnut inlay on front. There is a lock on this but I do not have a key. The cedar inside is like new and still has the cedar smell. The tray inside is in nice condition with purple felt(felt probably needs to be cleaned) This is 4' long and 19" tall. I'm not sure of the age- the company closed over 50 years ago. Since this is so large, I will only offer local pickup in Alexandria, Indiana.

Early LANE c. 1950 'Virginia Maid' Cedar Chest--3/4" Solid Red Cedar Panels
Guess what? I took apart a Lane Cedar Chest once only to find out that it was not really cedar chest at all. What it revealed itself to be was certainly enlightening. For concealed between a thin layer of cedar veneer. An even thinner layer of decorative fascia veneer, and a 3/4" thick top strip of cedar running horizontally along the edge was in fact a huge sheet of PARTICLE BOARD! Prior to this rather cleverly deceitful method of increasing a company's profit with the use of inferior material under the guise of quality woods. There used to be a disclaimer attached to such pieces as this LANE'VIRGINIA MAID' CEDAR CHEST This disclaimer identifies the products used in the construction of furniture. And on the inside of the lid it says: 70% MADE OF 3/4" RED CEDAR PANELS(JUNIPERUS VIRGINIANA) So this isn't one of those ... moreparticle board pieces. It is almost all solid wood except the veneers on the front and top, and the decorative base. ART DECO STYLE The blotchy areas are just where varnish remains-almost all of the varnish has totally disappeared. Leaving a raw piece with just those blotchy areas mentioned-the piece is almost immaculate condition otherwise. Masonic Cedar Hope Chest
This is a family heirloom. My grandfather had it made back in 1945. And when he passed, it was passed down to myself. He was a Mason, and so it has been kept in incredible condition through out the years.
