A shaped seat rail is supported by four turned legs and original brass capped casters. This fantastic sofa does have an old repair to one end which appears to be very sturdy and secure and one rosette at the left end of the sofa has some inlay loss. Thank goodness the repair is there or by today's standards it would have been in the dump and we would have lost this wonderful piece of art~just my opinion. The vintage cream colored fabric does show some ware on one corner and arm and needs a gentle cleaning. Please look closely and enlarge the pictures as all the detail cannot be shown in 12. Condition: Used Location: Morris Plains, United States Antique Vintage Victorian Wood Bugundy Cushion Couch Sofa Hand Crafted 1800's This is an antique fabulous Victorian sofa. It is 82" long and ... more39" high to the center at the back. This sofa is ornate with hand crafted hard wood decor about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around the front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. Each arm of the sofa has embossed hand crafted grape leaf design. There is a wooden surface damage on the top right arm. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" but it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue, it is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover, that is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric, it is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed. All is in great shape. This piece is really classic antique look, was kept well by our grandmother circa 1800's. Sold as is. Local pick-up only. This Lady's sofa is in very fine condition. The mahogony or stained walnut wood has been maintained and the upholstery is in very good condition. The sofa is in the Duncan Phyfe(1770-1854)style who was one of the master craftsmen to first use paper labels but many of his paper labels did not last. The sofa is probably made in the early 20th century and probably was not made in the Phyfe’ workshop. Buyer must arrange own shipping; pick up is located in Apex. Victorian Rococo Revival Sofa - Belter Style
A top quality high end early Victorian sofa from c1850-1870 with the highest probability from the 1850's. Strong Rococo Revival Lines such as heavy naturalist carvings and c curves throughout. It is made up of solid dark walnut and appears to have the original finish. The sofa has wonderful carved cabriol legs and a great carved motif on the front along with its original castor wheels.Regardless of the maker. Who ever made this was a fine cabinetmaker back in the day- not just some average cabinetmaker. Notice the depth of the carvings on the frame: What quality! The upholstery may actually be the original with green velvet filled with either horsehair or straw cushing. It is in real good shape considering its antique age with just a few blemishes as to be expected with antique fabrics. Victorian Fainting Sofa Chaise Couch Opens Into A Bed 1800's Patent Antique
This is a true Victorian gem! I have never seen anything like it. It is a fainting sofa/ chaise that opens and turns into a bed. The back has hinges and is meant to go down. The cushion opens up and folds out to reveal a hand made mattress, additional legs and even a hand made pillow. The mattress and pillow are made of straw and horse hair stuffing and are very heavy and amazingly in great shape. All antique experts that I have asked about this piece agree that this is extremely rare and nothing like they have seen. It has a metal plaque on the bottom with date and patent number from Boston. I have been told that this is a museum quality piece and is worth several thousands. The upholstery is original navy velvet. The fabric is in good condition with no tears only some sun damage. This splendid 19th century settee features fabulous detailed carving of grapes& leaves on the triple serpentine crest-rail with highly carved arm supports and a triple serpentine seat-rail with a cluster of grapes at the center with brass casters intact on the feet. This settee measures 40 3/4 inches high from the floor to the top of the back center.With a total length of 66 1/2 inches, seat width of 47 inches and seat depth of 19 inches with a seat height to the floor of 17 inches and this settee weighs approximately 75 lbs. Huge carved crest of flowers and leaves tops the center of the back of this sofa with scroll elements in other locations. Some dings. Scratches, gouges, and missing small pieces of wood characterize this 150 + year old sofa and hence the lower asking price. Being offered for sale is this Outstanding Victorian Rococo Revival Elaborately Carved Mahogany Sofa circa 1865. This 19th century sofa is grand and elegant and features beautiful ornate carved shells. Scrolls, foliate and floral on the triple serpentine crest-rail, with a highly carved serpentine seat-rail,full covered arms with carved arm supports, demi-cabriole styled legs with the original casters intact on the front feet we believe this sofa to also have its rich original finish. This fine sofa measures a total length of 82 inches. Height from the floor to the highest portion of the back measures 44 inches, seat length measures 60 inches, seat depth of 21 inches and seat height to the floor measures 16 inches and this sofa weighs approximately 95 lbs. Antique Pale Blue Victorian Sofa
When we purchased this sofa in 1995 we were told by the dealer that it was handcarved and that it had been built in New England in the late 1800's. I really don't know if this is true and will have to rely on the buyer's expertise. After purchasing this ugly green sofa on the advice of a decorator. We had it professionally(expensively) recovered in a pale blue. The sofa is currently in North Augusta, South Carolina(within 2 miles of I-20 at the GA line) Buyer will be responsible for picking it up or having it delivered.

Rare Victorian Salesman's Sample Tufted Sofa
This Rare Salesman's sample is from my personal collection and I purchased it with the hopes of restoring it. But never got around to it. I am downsizing, so this is a chance for someone else to own this really neat, rare Victorian loveseat. It dates from the 1800's and seems to be either a child's sofa, or a salesman's sample. It is made of walnut and has absolutely THE BEST tufting I have seen. It seems to still have the original gold, brocade upholstery material, but really is in need of a good restoration. As mentioned before, the frame does need to have a woodworker to tighten it up and fix a split. I think it is even awesome with the old material, but would be out of this world re-upholstered. I can only imagine the value it would gain, as I have seen none other like it. The top of the frame or cr est rail f e atures a large round medallion of burl walnut. Flanked on each si de by burl panel s. Each corner has a swirled carving lea ding to open carvings separating back from the arms. The shaped hand rest offer incising and more burling. A roun ded seat rail is supported by ring turne d leg s. The store said the man who consigned it told them it was passed down in his family and was made in Vienna, Austria and dated back to 1860. He claimed his wife never liked it and because of this it was stored in an unused bedroom. After pressure from his wife he decided to sell it in hopes that someone would buy it who would appreciate it. It has been lovingly taken care of by me since 1986 and I hate to sell it, but we just don't have the room for it anymore. Welcome to my auction! I am proud to be offering for your consideration this antique Victorian finger carved sofa circa 1870. This is an authentic antique sofa from the 1870s not a reproduction. THIS SOFA NEEDS WORK AND IS NOT READY TO USE This sofa has a serpentine shaped front with carved cabriole legs and original period brass casters. The entire frame is finger carved and very curvatious. The finish is probably original. The frame is in good solid condition. It retains its springs but they will need to be retied. It has only three chips all on the outside edge of the back(see photos) Biggest problem. This auction is for an antique Victorian style sofa and chair set. Not sure of the age or maker of this set as no tags are on either. My guess is that it is from the 1950's or 60's. This sofa is in one of the nicest conditions I’ve ever seen for a piece of this age. It is Victorian. Of solid hand-cut black walnut, and ... moredates from the Civil War era of the 1860s or‘70s. I’m sure it’s been re-lacquered or re-varnished, and the upholstery is definitely not original. The fabric is crushed velour of antique red against the gorgeous solid black walnut that has carving all over the entire frame. There is a crack on both of the top outside edges that we can most likely detail out so they’re not so noticeable, and we can do that if the buyer asks, at no additional cost. Other than that, this is in mind-boggling condition. It has carved knuckles, flowers, carvings on the feet, original brass casters with a square cap, and the front skirt has really heavily pronounced carvings of leaves and a clamshell. The overall size, at the widest point, is 85 inches wide, and inside the arms is 65 inches wide. It is 25 inches deep from front to back, and 42.5 inches high to the center carved shield on the top. The arm is 24 inches high, and the seat is 18 inches high. It’s stunning and breathtaking, and will leave your friends speechless when they walk into a room and see it.
