This period chair with original casters has no restoration and the wavy tiger walnut is carved throughout in an excellent manner. This Victorian folding deck/lounge chair is beautiful and it is in great shape. Burned into the wood is"Collignon's Patent. June-27-1871" It is made of solid mohagany, and I believe the upholstery to be original. It is still nice with vibrant color and can easily be saved. The only issue is that the seat bottom needs to be re-stuffed. You can see in one of the last pics that it appears the original stuffing(straw? may have just broken down and fallen out over the years. Functions perfectly and is very stable. This would polish up nicely too, as I only wiped it down with a damp cloth for the pictures. A great piece!

We are pleased to offer this EXCEPTIONAL 19th century chair(2 available) The chair features heavily carved. Walnut frame. It is a high back design with a slightly Gothic profile. The back is open in a Ladder Back fashion with a large, rounded medallion at the tops. The rounded sections are arched and scalloped on their lower sections. It is exquisitely carved in an intricate urn and floral pattern which is similar to that of the French Brittany style. A carved, scalloped design is also present. The lower cross"ladder" supports are arched, with the arches notched in a flower petal design, and have a center carved fan shaped accent. The upper side supports feature sections of elongated turned wood and unique finials. The legs are turned wood with both upper and lower supports. The front legs are accented with double turned wood supports ... moreas well as an upper support which repeats the design of the ladder back pieces. The rush seat is original and features thick fibers which are assembled in 4 distinct, triangular patterns. The chair is in very good condition for age. The wood has some minor areas of wear to the finish. The seat has some expected wear to the fibers but, in general, it is also in very good condition. From the back view, you can see where the two sections of the back medallions come together. The chair is fairly heavy and it is sturdy. Many repairs as pictured: both ear legs have been replaced; one of my Rottweilers tried to"vault" the chair and knocked the bar off[snapped the arm off; patch work on the cross-brace that wasn't refinished or stained[hmmm] Heavy as all get out for its size. These are compiled as a labor of love and as an attempt to get the best quality items into the most appreciative hands. For the sake of accuracy. Weight is posted to the nearest gram but occasionally, if very heavy, in ounces. Weight is always the total weight of the object and may or may not give a good idea of the scrap value as I do not guess the weight of wood. Mirrors, ... morescrews, bolts, or anything that may not be silver or gold. I do not take apart or clean anything after listing an item. It is up to the new owner to clean silver and other metals. My scale computes to the nearest gram and it has been tested and calibrated. A note to silver scrappers: There are those on Ebay who will claim that the weight of an object is less than advertised and demand a rebate after the auction has ended. This is an ongoing trend and these individuals seem to complain if silver prices go down between the day they buy and the day they receive.
