For sale is a beautiful matching Eastlake Victorian 3-piece set of antique chairs that have been in my family in the Lexington. SC area for several generations. It has been in the formal living room of our home for the last 12 years in a smoke-free household. The underside workings are cast iron and have a patent date of May 20 1878. Not sure of the wood. Looks like walnut to me. The chair has been reupholstered 3 times all over the original which I believe is the bottom layer ... moreof cloth that can be seen on the underside and edges. Smooth gliding motion. Surely was a step up back in the day. Her are some measurements: Seats are 17 x 17" The arms are 18" The entire back peice is 32 x 18" From the ground to the seat is 15" It is 20" across the front wide. Condition is very good for its age. Some general wear but overall not a lot of time would be spent looking for flaws. Back panel's nails are popping out a bit due to it's bowed nature. Hand carved, American antique Victorian parlor chair that is made out of walnut and dates from 1830-1840. The American antique parlor chair is 44.5" tall, 25" wide, 23" deep, and the measurement from the floor to the top of the seat is 17" All original, including the upholstery(which is VERY delicate now, though beautiful yet) and the original horsehair stuffing! This is a great example of early American antique Victorian furniture that will make any space look totally amazing! Hand made nails Golden colored with floral needlepoint Thick padded back& seat Oriental/gothic influenced hand carved wood Front casters are original This is a very unique style and I haven't been able to find anything like it. All of the nails(including the very large one with the square nut pictured in photo#9) have all handmade heads. Has a black finish which appears to be the original finish. Has these unique finger hooks on the top in the back(see photo#4) Your fingers fit perfectly under them so that you can lift the back and roll it on the front casters. This piece is in really good shape for its age. The wood has finish rubbed off in spots throughout and the chair may need some slight tightening. But tight for the most part and certainly sturdy enough to use. ... moreIn photo#3, you can see a small, round, clear spot on the seat. Please see the photos for more details as the photos act as part of the description as well. In photo#9, there is a large bolt head showing in the back of the chair by the seat and the end& nut show on the bottom.it's not like that on the other side. It appears to be hand planed and DEFINITELY hand carved. The black fabric on the bottom is newer and without removing it. I'm not sure what's underneath, but in pulling the sides back a bit, all of the nails are hand made& old. Other than the staples holding on that back fabric, all of the hardware is 19th century. I believe that it had been reupholstered at some point due to original nail holes around the current edges of the fabric. It sounds like it is filled with some straw and under the black bottom fabric, there is what looks like a potato sack type of material. So, I'm thinking that if it were reupholstered, it was done a long time ago. There are nicks and paint missing throughout from use. The overall presence of this piece in the room is just awesome. Victorian Club Parlor Chair Mahogany Wood Carved w/Peach Fabric - Local Pick Up
These 2 chairs are in remarkable condition with only very minor wear. And I cant stress minor enough. I was going to take these outside and snap some pictures of them because the inside pictures just don't do the chairs justice. They are of the victorian revival era, circa 1930's or a tad bit earlier. They were my grandma's and they just don't fit well in any of my rooms here. The dimensions of the chairs, bigger one first, 42" high at the tallest spot, 34" at the widest spot in the arm rest area. The shorter is 35" to the highest point and 36" wide in the arm rest area. I am going to take some more pictures of these when the weather cooperates so keep checking back. Victorian solid walnut platform rocking chair, circa early 1900's
Victorian platform rocker in very good condition. Circa early 1900's. Left Arm is loose, right arm has been repaired once and thin veil of fabric netting on the bottom needs to be replaced. The wood is hand carved solid walnut and the fabric is unblemished. Very comfortable to sit in or to have as a period piece.
