MADE BY: Porzellanfabrik Unger. Schneider& Cie. 1859 until 1885) Based on a ducal concession. The businessman Carl Schneider(who had worked at the Wallendorf factory for some time) together with modelling artist Karl Unger and businessman Hermann Hutschenreuther founded their business in 1859. As Hutschenreuther was a sleeping partner. His name does not appear in the company name until 1885. At first the company only produced tableware. Miniature sets for children and a few kitchen utensils, mostly decorated in the cobalt blue'Zwiebel- and'Strohblumenmuster' styles which sometimes included gilding. But unlike many other facilities they did not simply copy ... moreexisting designs but rather used their own creativity and started with export fairly early, which was soon rewarded as the first international award was received 1875 at the Exposición Internacional de Chile(Santiago World Fair) The success also showed a problem as the first marks that had been used looked similar to the marks used earlier by the factory in Gießhübel. This is a chair cover that was used to place over the back of a fabric chair to prevent the men’s greasy hair from ruining a chair with old tar type hair grease. There are 2 of these leather pieces and they came from a farm sale in Northern Idaho. The design on this cover is a toddler and his dog. We are pleased to offer this beautiful. Old vintage, child's chair. The chair has very beautiful lines and is in the Spanish Mission style with some Victorian influences as well. Constructed of solid turned hardwood(pine? and finished with a beautiful, gold velvet upholstery, this wonderful high back chair is in very good condition. It is very sturdy and well made. There are exceptional details such as the butterfly front curvature of the chair seat. The turned wood is featured throughout and even includes the seat supports. The legs feature squared feet with stretcher supports between each leg. The fabric is luxurious with a high nap. Abundant padding was used and both the seat and the chair back are raised 1.5" above the chair frame. Brass nailhead trim accents the upholstery. The chair is in very good condition with minor signs ... moreof age/wear. There are a few, minor dings, but nothing distracting nor anything that requires any repair. The fabric is very good with no worn areas. The chair does not have a shiny, urethane finish but is natural wood with an"oiled" appearance. This is an exceptionally beautiful and very nice old piece. The chair is 31.75" tall. The seat height is 13" to the frame and is 14.5" tall including the upholstered and padded section. It has Serpent/Birds on the top a Carved Crest on the back and Heads craved where the arms meet the back. It is 27" wide at the arms and 56" high. I have taken picture of the damage. The material on the back of the seat and the seat itself appear to be original; if you look in the area between the cushion and the seat back in the last picture. You will see the color that used to be in this material. This is truly one of the nicest pieces we have come across in quite some time. Handling time on this item will be extended due to the fact that we are driving 40 miles away to UPS or FedEx shipping center. Many of these examples have been painted or refinished or just don’t exist any longer from years of hard use. The fine turnings on the arms and the ball at the end of each arm have age appropriate wear. The top of the back has attractive and subtle carving. The oak has mellowed to a beautiful rich color. This is a wonderful rare early pin cushion of a fabulous ornate chair. It is heavy weighted and a nice size of 5 inches high by 3 inches wide and 3 inches deep. Overall wonderful piece in wonderful antique condition. Some wear to cushion as is to be expected but appears original. I think this is possibly cast iron. This wonderful Victorian or Edwardian side chair was purchased by my grandmother. A very talented collector who scoured antique shops in and around Cape May, New Jersey during the'50's and'60's. After she died, it was passed along to my mother and it has now become mine. I have no room for it, alas, so it is now looking for a new home. This chair measures approximately 37" tall. 19" from front to back, and 18" wide. The wood is mahogany. I believe, and it has been deeply carved. There are a few scuffs here and there and what may be some tiny spots of paint on one side, all of which should come out quite easily with a dab of paint remover and a little Restor-A-Finish. This antique Victorian mahogany wood carved parlor chair is beautiful and in overall very good condition for its age. It is upholstered in ivory jacquard fabric(lighter than ivory color. But not quite white) and has original brass tacking. The chair is 40" high from floor to top of carved back; 18" high from ground to seat, 34" wide from arm to arm and 22.5" deep(seat depth) The wood frame of chair has light wear. Given its age and consistent with its antique status, on carved arms, feet and along wood frame at base and can easily be polished up. There is a very small gap between wood pieces along top right hand wood frame(see photo) due to aging, but does not interrupt use of the chair and is not detected unless you look for it. I would imagine this is not the original fabric and was reupholstered somewhere along the ... moreway by prior owner. I acquired it from the estate of an older women(in her 90s) who had not used it much in her living room. The piece has no stains, smells or wear outside of what has been detailed. This is a very rare turn of the century child's/doll Victorian vanity chair. This piece was purchased at a Conn estate sale and is truly special The seat is 15" off the ground. The complete height with back is 22" and the seat measures 10" across. The frame is metal that has been completed covered with ribbon and fabric.The seat is a burgundy velvet(worn, but without holes) covered with a taffeta like fabric(with rips and holes) and embellished with velvet roses. It is still sturdy, though I would like to think of this more as a doll's display piece. I have looked for similar chairs, but could not find any. There appears to have been some repair work on at the top area of the Carvedi wood that is part of the chair's back. Please view the pictures carefully. The chair does feel stable and solid. It appears to be a carved handmade chair. On the bottom of the rockers you can see that there are two wooden plugs missing. Over time they must've fallen out. For your consideration is this antique ornately carved walnut rococo parlor Victorian needlepoint(genuine hand stitched) petite slipper chair. It was made circa 1850 to 1860. It features a walnut wooden carved backrest adorned with gothic finials. The needlepoint seat is original with the seat itself featuring springs and padding for comfort. As stated this is a petite chair with the top of the seat measuring 14 inches from the floor. The chair measures 21 inches long by 20 1/2 inches wide and is 38 1/2 inches tall. The wood on this chair is solid walnut and is well preserved and cared for. There are minor portions of surface cracking on what appears to have been some sort of a varnish applied to the front legs. Really nice antique Victorian or Eastlake needlepoint armchair from the 1800s. This piece has nice carved. And burl wood accents. The wood looks to be walnut. Upholstery is in excellent shape, as well as the bones of the chair. The chair is still able to be sat in without issue. There are no cracks, breaks, or loose joints that I could find. Due to this piece being older you probably could find some sign of wear, but it will be hard to find. I am helping a friend sell this piece. It has been in his family for many many years. He is an older gentleman so he will not be able to move the chair around. But I live close by to assist if needed. The chair measures 23 1/2" wide, 21" deep, 40" tall. 15 1/2" tall to the seat. Petite Antique Victorian Walnut & Burl Platform Rocker rocking chair
I have up for sale a gorgeous vintage circa 1860s to 1880s Antique Victorian Walnut DIMINUTIVE SIZE platform rocker. This rocker is a petite size- basically for a woman or smaller framed person. It is lower from the ground to the seat than most rockers of this type and somewhat more narrow than a conventional platform rocker. One of my later pics shows the rocker next to a large Hunzinger Platform rocker and in another pic next to a pair of Victorian Side Chairs- this will help with get an idea of just how big/small this item is. Its almost like what I would call a youth size. More for a petite woman or a smaller framed man- definitely not for any one who is heavy or tall. So please keep that in mind if you want to purchase the item. The rocker stands approx 35" at the back- highest point.Approx 20" across the top wood section. ... moreThe seat is 17" from the ground- so it is lower than most rockers. The inside measurement between the hand grip sections is approx 18" The base unit is approx 25-1/2" deep- this is for the runners or what ever you call these pieces.
