It has vines, berries and leaves all around the oval back. The legs are beautifully carved as well. We place this chair at about 1870. It is all solid wood and looks to be a dark walnut. The seat is a nice size and is covered in needlepoint. We are not sure if the finish and covering are original. But they are very old that is for sure. The chair is solid but has a repair at the back side piece. The chair needs a good polishing it has been stored all winter. The chair measures 42" tall by18 1/2" by 14" deep.
