Found this Shaker rocking chair at a yard sale in Reading. Vt. My brief research indicates that it was probably made at the Watervliet Colony. I could find no label but the"7" is stamped into the top splat(back side) Has old black paint on it that has been worn through to a green underneath in several spots. Is the green original? I'm not sure BUT the black paint is finely crazed all over indicating good age to the green. The rounded nipple type finials seem to be a Watervliet characteristic, although I'm pretty rusty on ID'ing Shaker furniture. Condition is excellent. Rockers are secured with wooden pegs or dowels. No pegs at junction of top splat and rear stiles. Seat is cane or reed- I don't believe that its original but has been on there for a long time. The seat is not perfect as can be seen in the photos but ... moreis completely serviceable. Measures about 41" tall as the chair sits and about 25" across the arms at the widest point. This is a traditional painted Pennsylvania rocking chair made in America by a traditional American craftsman. L. B. Ebersol of Bareville, Pa. Chair is bright and cheerful. Hand painted floral decoration that really sets it apart. Previously used Childs rocking chair. Chair has some wear some paint chips but in pretty good condition to be 42 years old. All joints are solid and rocks steadily. It is stamped 1972 on bottom as you can see from the picture. L. B. Ebersol started making chairs in Lancaster County. Pennsylvania in 1938. By the 1950's, there were three furniture companies in the county, today there are 30 or so, some of them quite large. competition is keen. In 1968, L. This antique child's or doll's rocking chair was made pint size at only 22 inches tall. But in imitation of the quality and techniques utilized in genuine adult living room furniture. Wow! The solid wood frame is upholstered in a golden yellow textured heavy weight fabric. The seat is cushioned and supported by dual springs which allow the user to rock back and forth on the sturdy well-turned feet. Classic warm solid wood arm rests complete this traditional piece of furniture. Pieced together with dowels, staples, and Robertson head screws, this unique find could have been manufactured as far back as 1909. However, its actual age is unknown. Preowned. The stain on the arm rests and feet has been worn away in some spots. But this reveals the beautiful wood grains beneath. Beautifully grained golden oak, and feature some intricate carving, upholstered back and head rest, seat, and arms. The upholstery appears to be original and is in good vintage condition. Some of upholstery trim has come loose but is all there. The rocking mechanism under the chair seat is of heavy cast iron. In the shape of 2 large coiled wheels. Patent date on the mechanism shows"Pat Jan 5 07" The front legs are on small wheels. The chair rocks smoothly and easily and is quite comfortable. Study photos please. The underside of the seat is supported by wide upholstery straps. Which have stretched over the years, thus allowing the seat to sag a bit. Antique Rocking Chair with original tooled leather seat. Tooled leather inserts, stick& ball design, brass tacks& brass ornamentation. This chair has been in our family since the mid-1960's. This chair was given an informal appraisal at a“Valuation Day” at the Pioneers Museum in Colorado Springs a few years ago. It was looked at by two furniture evaluators. They said it could be either American or maybe English in origin. Possibly from New York or Boston area. It is probably circa 1870-1890. They thought it may be made of mahogany with a cherry stain. Stain coverage is not even and has original patina. Some wear marks on the uprights probably from improper protection during shipping. Leather seat was stained to look like wood& has some cracks and scarring in the leather. We were given a strong recommendation to replace the ... moreseat if it is going to be sat in. Five(5) rows of leather inserts& two single inserts on arms– total 24 inserts with 5 different designs. Brass is in good shape, small ding in large brass decoration visible in photo showing arm insert. The rocking chair has not been sat in for approximately 25 years. For several years prior to that it was used by a petite lady(my mother-in-law) About fifteen years ago a furniture repair person re-glued the loose joints of the chair. He also installed a false bottom and injected foam to support the leather. Soon after that. We learned the foam was a bad idea– the false bottom and foam were removed. Some foam residue remains on the underside of the leather and has not been harmed by the short contact time with the foam. Very decorative. Unique& highly collectible. Antique all wood maple grandfather's rocking chair 1948 made wood dowels &wedges
This antique grandfather's rocking chair belonged to my grandfathers and was built in 1948 out of solid rock hard maple wood. It features old world construction using wood pins and wedges. There are beautiful gold painted on accents as can seen in the photos. It features a pretty blue rainbow seat for cushioning but the sea can be removed. This rocker is in very good condition and has very few scratches or marks a few marks around the back where it would hit a wall as condition photos.and a few I rub marks where your hands would go on the arms of the chair. Back of chair is 38 inches high.arms are 22inches apart. Rockers are 29 inches long. Seat is 15 inches off ground and rested state. This is a beautifully constructed chair that you will not see any more and belonged to my grandfather. Local pickup in the Chicagoland area only no delivery.

Very nice pair of mid century modern Danish rocking chair and high back chair. Purchased from original owner. Owned for over 60 years. He and his wife were in a furniture store and he walked across the street and when he came back his wife had purchased the set. That was around 1954. No markings that we could find. Not sure what kind of wood they are made of. Probably not the original cushions. Both chairs in very good condition. Top back of rocker has a dinged up a little. Finish looks to be original. Dimensions are roughly: Rocker- 28 inches wide. 30 inches tall, 27 inches front to back Chair- 28 inches wide, 38 inches tall, 27 inches front to back Haven't seen but a couple of this style on ebay.
