The truth is that I don't know the exact age of this piano stool. And we're only estimating it is 1800's. It has a swivel top that is upholstered. If that upholstery is original or not, well I can't say for sure. I can note that the hardware holding the stool top to the base looks shiny and new, so at one point it was disassembled. One screw is missing altogether. These are easily replaced. The stool is structurally sound, no loose parts. It has metal feet and is a unique piece. I can only imagine the hours spent at the lathe to create it. It stands about 16 inches tall with a 12 inch seat.

This has been relaquered or varnished and repaired sometime in it's life. The repair is to the top board under the seat that the legs attach to. It looks like it was cracked and glued there and then some extra braces put on it to increase the strength. It feels sound and solid and easily held my 300 lbs and you should have no problems with it. They are on the underside so do not show in use. I saw no other damage and everything is tight and sound. 19" tall fully down. 24" fully up before it starts to wobble too much, 6" of thread on the shaft. Signed Patd Nov 22 1881 Seat is 14" x 14" but actually about 14 1/2" square counting the fancy decorations. Seat covering looks original with some wear-no tears-and feels like the old material made of horsehair and camel hair that they used in the old lap robe/blankets. A few moth chew marks that don't go through. I think the wood is mahogany but is tough to tell with the old dark finish on it. Sound and solid with no chips,cracks or repairs. Leg spread is 14" toe to toe. Some wear to the embroidered decorative strip around the seat but not too bad. Up for sale is an original Lyons& Healy Piano Stool from the 1800's. Has 4 glass ball metal claw feet. Lyons& Healy Chicago is on a metal piece underneath the seat. The seat has 3 two inch cracks around edges. Which is to be expected for a piece of this age. Can be restored or kept the way it is. Measures 18 1/2" tall, 14 1/2" diameter seat. Lyons& Healy originally made piano music in 1864. But then there were 4 fires, on of them the"Great Chicago Fire in 1871" which destroyed their records. They started making pianos and organs in 1876 so I am assuming that this could have been made then, since it does look like it is from the 1800's They then turned mainly to musical instruments, particularly harps. Opening for leg measures 7/8" The top portion of the leg has a unique design that is scrolled. See pics. Three feet have glass ball. One with crushed glass and the other two have nicks. Antique VICTORIAN CLAW FOOT PIANO PUMP ORGAN Adjustable STOOL BENCH VELVET SEAT
This is an ornate antique Victorian adjustable piano/ organ/ harp stool. The stool is in great condition and appears to retain its original mahogany finish. It is made of solid wood that is stained mahogany. It has metal claw and clear glass ball feet. The glass balls are not cracked and the legs and base are ornately turned. The seat is covered with padding and red velvet. The cloth is not ripped or torn. But has some light stains. There is some light wear and scratches from use on the wood, and the legs are a little loose, but could easily be re-glued. There is a white cloth wrapped around the adjustment screw in the seat to keep it from squeaking as much when it turns. The round piece of wood under the seat has been re-glued as seen in the photos. The seat is adjustable in height and has a large steel screw and shaft in the center which ... moreworks pefectly. It measures 19" in height adjusted down and 24" in height turned all the way up. Antique Piano Stool screw assembly, 8-1/2" tall, special locking mechanism
This auction is for a piano stool screw assembly. I don't know if it is truly unusual or not. But it is to me. This mechanism is designed so that if someone sits on it and spins it will not spin off or go down. By getting off the seat and lifting it slightly, you activate a locking feature that lets you raise and lower the stool top. When sat in, this is not engaged and it spins freely without turning the screw. It is about 8-1/2" tall. The large base that attaches to the bench is about 4" accross with four screw holes(screws not included) The shaft that goes into the base is 1-3/8" accross where round. One side is flattened a bit to lock in place. This is a really nice freely moving screw assembly with some rust showing as might be expected. Up for your viewing and bidding pleasure are 4 Old Style Piano Claw Feet& Glass Ball Legs with Metal Screw Stool Hardware. With these items you can either repair an old 1900s piano adjustable stool or you can make one yourself. The stool was broken so I cut off the legs and removed the hardware. All are in great condition for their age and all you have to do is remove the screws that attach the metal designed legs to the wood and you’re ready to add them to a stool or make one yourself. The metal legs are 4 inches long and the stool metal base is 5 2/8 inches square. The threaded piece that goes into the base unit is about 7 ½ inches long x about 1 ¼ inches in diameter. It measures 14" in diameter at the swivel top x 18"24" tall. It features beehive turned legs. Stretchers and center post with four splayed legs showing a 4-claw metal foot with glass balls, and the original finish on the oak wood. The footstool is in good condition. A lovely Victorian piano stool.Very unusual being made from Elm as they are normally Oak or Mahogany. It has been very well carved and it still retains it's original finish.It has at some point been re-covered which is to be expected on a piece of this age but it has been done very well and is totally in keeping with the period. Is is a rise and fall piano stool however the piece of metal that houses the thread has worn so it will need replacing. It still turns freely but no longer goes up& down.It stands approx 19 1/2" tall& is 18" wide at the base.A good looking stool that would grace any home& also a very useful one.
