Kranich& Bach Empire Revival Victorian Brazilian Rosewood Parlor Grand Piano with Stool Not many Kranich& Bach pianos like this were made. Rare Art Case piece of furniture The beautiful piano is unique with original satin finish on the case. This wonderful instrument is a classic example of the heavy and bold carved rosewood of the Empire Revival influence popular in the late 19th Century of Victorian Style and was made between the 1870 to 1880s. It is Brazilian Rosewood and in great condition. Kranich& Bach rethought the standard piano action and improved it. Which gives it an elegant sound- rich warm mellow tone. All keys intact and working. The beautiful keys are creamy white in color have a great touch and a nice feel on the fingers. The original ivory keys were probably replaced in the late 40s to early 50s. Just by looking ... moreat the quality. The black keys are the original ebony keys. The music stand has intricate delicate cutwork. That will lay down flat with matching sides. There is a lock. But no key The legs were probably contracted out to be made by someone else. Maybe Kimel and Cabus due to the lines and large rosettes on each leg or Thomas Brooks of Cincinnati who made similar rosettes and lines. The harp is painted gold and still shows a faint hand painted scroll pattern on the sides of the bars. This piano is unusual in size as most grand pianos of this era were at least 6'4" in length. the baby grand sizes didn't become popular until well after the turn-of-the-century. Part of the unique charm of this piano is that it has a very bold and masculine appearance. Yet is rather small in actual size. This piano measures 71" 5'11" from front to back. Nearly 6' It is 54 1/2" wide. When the lid is closed it is 39 1/4" tall. The original bench was not available when we purchased the piano. The bench pictured is included. The seat is about 14" across. The seat will start to wobble when extended. The fabric on the seat is in good condition except for a small tear and a possible stain. This is a vintage piano stool swivel and height adjuster. These parts were made by A. MERRIAM CO. in South Acton. Mass. This adjuster is in fine condition and ready to go into you stool. If you want that original cast look, this part will be great. Includes the screws. This looks like a pretty easy unit to install. The round nut slides into a flat bottom hole and the wood plug keeps it in position. The parts of the center spindle will help you drill the correct size hole to the correct depth. Packard Pump Organ and Piano Stool
Up for auction is a beautiful Packard Pump Organ. Manufactured in gorgeous tiger oak with pressed inlays and has the original finish. Auction includes the matching claw foot stool and the factory book that came with the organ. This pump organ was manufactured in Fort Wayne IN and was bought in 1909 by two sisters who lived in Columbia City IN. I bought the organ from an antique dealer in Columbia City who bought it from the estate in 1981. The organ is totally original. Unrestored and still plays. There are three keys, two white and one black that do not function. All the stops function fine as do the pedals. There are two small round wood trim spheres(about the size of a pencil eraser) that are missing. The beveled mirror has a wear spot about the size of a quarter in the upper right corner. CAST IRON GLASS BALL FEET and legs - repairs - piano stool - vintage
I have left the claw feet on the legs. The feet are in good condition as are the glass balls. There is old varnish and dirt built up and they need a good cleaning. There are bubbles in the glass but I couldn't see any cracks. The legs are 16 1/2 inches tip to toe. The legs may need refinishing if you are redoing or repairing another stool. They do have some character to them now. The center piece is cracked and doubtful it could be used except for a pattern. If you get the bid and do not want the extra pieces I will just send the feet and figure postage that way. For now I am weighing all pieces to calculate postage so take that into consideration. This sturdy old bench is in good vintage condition, it has not been cleaned or restored. The wood has typical nicks, scratches, scuffs from shoes and walls. Metal and ball feet. the top of the chair is quarter sawn oak. a bit of a curl on the sides. you will not even have to polish this one. Vintage PIANO STOOL, Twisted Iron Legs & Swivel Circular Seat, by W.D. ALLISON
I believe this is an old swivel seat PIANO STOOL and by the looks of the material I would say it dates from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. This stool is in pretty good shape. But it is a little warped and the legs do not all sit flat on the ground. The seat is also a little off center due to the legs not being evenly spread. The twisted iron legs are easy to bend and shape so if you want to work on leveling the legs and seat I am sure you can do so. The swivel seat spins up and down, the lowest level being approximately 15 inches high and the highest level being approximately 24 inches high. The center seat screw misses the very bottom guide hole by about 1/2 inch, but you can press this center screw inward and screw it into the bottom guide hole, see the pictures I have provided. The wooden seat may be original, not sure. This ... morewooden seat shows some lacquer and wood flaking on the top side and I can see some wood separation around the edges. There is a metal number plate nailed to the side of this seat. Age is late 1800's to early 1900's. 19 1/2" fully down-24 1/2" fully up to where the threads come undone so about 23" of safe usable height. Seat is 14 1/4" diameter and dished in the middle for comfort. Signed Schuermann Washington NJ. Leg spread is 14" across the closest feet. 18 1/2" across the farthest. Glass/crystal balls have air bubbles and in good shape. Threads in the iron mounting mechanism look good and are not worn out and it adjusts nicely. Wood is probably oak. Joints are tight. Some shallow drying cracks. Seat has various colored woods but looks original. You can feel the joint where the wood changes color o the seat but it seems solid enough. I am going to remove the 4 screws that hold the iron to the bottom of the seat to hold the box size down for shipping. I like to put a dab of wood ... moreglue on the threads when i put these old items back together.Overall a good looking sound stool.
