Crafted during the first years of the 19th Century. It has a wonderful black paint over another layer of reddish orange, probably also a layer over the original and currently unknown color. The back of the chair has a graceful bow, carefully grasping each through-tenoned splinted spindle before diving through the single solid plank pine seat. The seat is heavily patinated, with deep grooves and wear from decades of active use. The entire chair sits over four splayed bamboo carved legs, all four of which tenon through the plank seat before being secured with a splint, each held firmly and perfectly in place with a bamboo carved H-stretcher. This is a most charming chair, in excellent condition with wonderful patina and character throughout- the early painted surfaces are probably not the original layers, but seem to protect earlier layers beneath, these quite possibly the earliest surfaces. A wonderful find for those that are passionate about fine windsor chairs. Measurements: Seat 13.5" wide x 14.5" deep. The seat sits 16" from the ground and the back of the seat is 33.5" high. Condition Report: Paint worn throughout. Probably not the original surfaces. Deep groves and losses in the plank seat. Chips and abrasions throughout. One nail, appears to be modern, on side of chair stabalizing hoop back. Plank seat split with a butterfly joint securing seat from beneath and two screws locking it in place. Chair is structurally strong, but could possibly be too weak to use functionally as a chair. Please review the images in the slideshow for a full overview of condition.

So initially Day made models for architects. The outbreak of the war did not improve his prospects. Ruled out from active service by asthma, he taught at Beckenham School of Art, where he devised an innovative course ... morein three-dimensional design. It was there he met a fellow teacher, Clive Latimer, who went on to share Day's first great success as a designer when, in 1948, the pair won the International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Wonderful Danish Modern Teak Desk designed by Arne Vodder. Circa late 1950's. Features a 3 drawer cabinet which slides and can be positioned on either side of the desk and a brass hinged drop leaf which is raised into position by simply sliding the top over. In Good Vintage Condition but does have some slight veneer loss to the edges of the drawers. There are also some stains and discoloration spots to the desktop as pictured. Up for consideration is an original vintage MID CENTURY MODERN BLONDE WOOD desk circa 1950s. Sturdy and solid as it gets. This great desk features a slight curve in the front, which gives it a nice flair. A middle drawer separates a set of three drawers on either side. The desk looks to be constructed of oak and has a beautiful, blond finish which is perfect. The back side of the desk is straight and flushes up against the wall. The metal drawer pulls have a gold wash, but do show some tarnish. They look great as is, or one could choose to repaint them. The desk measures 54.50" inches wide by 21" inches deep by 26" inches tall. This desk will ship freight. Ask all questions before purchasing, no returns on furniture.
