It has three small pull out drawers on the inside with the middle drawer having a lift up mirror and there are three larger drawers below the desk area. The inside of the desk also has a couple of cubby shelves. If you look below the second shelf you can see someone has cut a small hole to pass cords through. I could not find any markers markings but I am guessing from other items in the house of this estate sale it is Danish and probably from the 60's or 70’s. It is of smaller proportions making it ideal for a smaller room. The approx. measurements are: 3’ 6½” tall/ 2’ 11” across the front and is 1’ 5¼” wide. There are a couple of very small little marks or bumps but nothing major and overall it is in Very Good used condition. This Would Be A Very Stylish Addition To Any Home! An amazing desk and credenza set by Dolly Madison furniture company from the early 60s and in classic mid century modern design. Made of solid walnut(even the drawers) and has laminate surface for work area that protects wood from abuse. File drawers on both left side of desk and left side of credenza along with numerous other drawers for storage. It has pull outs for additional work surface on both sides. A curved shape to area where legs go on front of desk for your guests to be comfortable, wonderful oval tapered legs with adjustable feet for leveling, metal tracking for drawers so they slide freely, extra deep drawers on desk, and fantastic design. The desk measures 78" long, 38" deep, and 29" high. The credenza is 77" long, 21" deep, and 29" high. Excellent vintage condition with only very minor blemish ... moreto desk top shown in close up. All drawers etc work perfectly including locks for each side of desk. I had this desk for years and when I moved to CA my brother bought it from me and had the tops refinished. They did a great job but when he got it back set a letter holder on it and it made imprints to the varnish, they are very minor and not noticeable but you can see them in close ups. There are also a couple of darker small streak spots on desk that were under varnish and always there that are also shown in close ups. Other than those couple of spots the desk is in fantastic condition. I can tell you from experience having used it for years that it is the most user friendly set ever! The desk is in the style(manner) of Arne Wahl Iversen but we don't know who made the set. The chair seems to have a Paul Mccobb influence. They are both unmarked. Beautiful teak wood throughout the desk with 3 slide out drawers. One drawer has a keyhole but there is no key included. The sides of the desk are teak laminate over particle board. The legs are all solid teak. The backboard is a type of composite board. The drawers are wood with the fronts being painted black as well as the front of the backboard in the same color. The legs and spindles of the chair are the same black color as the desk. The seat of the chair is a bent plywood with the backrest ... morebeing solid wood. Very nice set that is very sturdy and sculptural. Perfect for your home or place of business. Possibly Danish. Swedish or Italian made. American companies used walnut more than teak during that period. The chair is of interest in that it appears to be a modernist interpretation of the classic windsor chair of old. CONDITION; Very good condition and well taken care of. The center drawer of the desk has some writing and scribbling inside(see picture) That will need to be sanded out if you choose to do so on your own. There is an ink stain on the top of the desk. There are nicks and scratches here and there on the legs of the chair and spindles and the legs of the desk. The saddle seat of the chair has wear on the top from usage. This type of wear is common with vintage items like this. The table and chair are overall very sturdy and they will display well in your Modernist decor. No repairs or broken pieces. The lamp does not come with a lamp shade. It is marked with Pat. No. 2729473(1956) It is 24" tall to the top of the finial. 8" bottom diameter& 15 1/4" tall not including the plastic light diffuser. The switch is marked Keystone. Lamp works and the light bulb is not included in the auction. I am not sure if the socket was replace in the past. I have added a new socket extension so modern light bulbs will fit. The socket extension holds the metal harp on/down. 1950's Gordon Bunshaft Italic Styling mid century modern desk ~ GF
Up for bids is this 1950's L-shaped"Italic Styling" desk designed by Gordon Bunshaft and made by GF. I have taken several pictures trying to show different angles. Top's appear to be wood grained greyish color formica and appear to have a slightly different color. I bought this desk when it was already taken apart and was told all the screws that put it back together are with it(in a baggie) I cannot verify it so it may or may not need a screw or two. Since the main section has 3 legs and stands on it's own I was able to slide the side desk together for these pictures. Desk has both the front& side aluminum privacy screens. None of the drawer parts or sides are coming loose. Missing, or need to be re-attached. It's great looking, sturdy, and will last a lifetime. The solid wood base holds a 3-teir shade made of very think strips of wood bent in circles. It's in mint condition except for a little bend in the lower tier that caused a 2 inch crack in the wood. Plus a tiny nick in the top tier, see photos. It's the perfect size for a bedside or desk lamp at only 12 inches tall and 8 inches wide. It uses a standard size bulb. When I purchased it at an estate sale it had the original paper tag on the underside, but I lost it somewhere along the way.
