ANTIQUE 1920'S LANE SMALL SIZE CEDAR CHEST WITH BRASS PLATED STRAPS
Offering this very attractive antique Lane small profile Cedar Chest style#336 with a manufacturing date of July 26. 1927. This petite beauty is just 36 inches wide, 17 1/2 inches deep and just 14 1/2 inches tall. It could have been or could be slightly taller if the caster feet were replaced. It has two copper or brass plated gate post looking straps which is a nice matching add to the fine petina of the cedar wood. There are some rough marks and finish misses, heavy on left front edge and some other visible scratch markings in other areas of the lid. See Photos. Inside nice and clean with original Lane labelling and informations sheet. Serial and model marking on bottom. Selling as pictured and described.

It is stamped inside the lid"Sports Box By Lane" and on the base"C, 1996 The Lane Company, All Rights Reserved" If you are familiar with these small size Lane chests, you will remember how graduating high school girls, as far back as the 1930's or 40's, would be invited to go to their local furniture stores and pick up their graduation gift from Lane.a cedar chest for saving trinkets, jewelry, and mementos. I received one when I graduated back in the 1960's. This is an unusual one that you hardly ever see. The basketball court is painted on the lid in black, green, and brown. It would be a wonderful graduation gift for a son or ... moredaughter who plays basketball. The box has very little wear.a few pencil marks inside the box as if someone stored pencils in it. The few nicks in the wood are under the stain so must have been a natural part of the wood and not damage to the box. It no longer has the key and would be a great gift for graduation.

Antique Miniature Lane Cedar Chest 1938 Dated
Miniature Lane Cedar Chest dated 1938 with the name of the High School girl who received it for graduation. This is one of the harder to find Miniature Lane Cedar Chests with the upright. Rounded corners containing 3 grooves. These chests were often given go stores that sold the Lane Cedar Chests and those stores would then pass them on to graduating seniors. This chest is in very good condition overall. It does have some nicks and scratches in it. However the finish is intact, no splits, cracks or chips in the wood. All the seams and joints are in excellent condition with no damage to them either. Lock is intact and even the wooden feet on the bottom(a rare option on these miniature chests if you look around) are 100% complete. Chest even has it's original hinges inside the lid, another rare feature as the majority of these have them ... moreon the outside. On the inside of the chest there is a black stain running along the bottom edge and also a large white stain. All of this is shown in the photographs. Please note: This is a used miniature cedar chest 75 years old. As such this chest does have signs of wear and tear, nicks, scratches and the stains as I've mentioned. It is not new, it shows the character of it's years, that while it is in very good condition, this chest was used and loved obviously by it's owner as it is proud to show you. Solid wood construction with decorative patterned veneer. Original finish. The cedar scent is still very strong. The lid opens by depressing the latch on the outside. There is a 3-section tray on the inside with a hinged cover over the center section. Measures approx. 45 in long x 18 1/2 in deep x 23 in high This piece is in very nice condition. The interior is excellent. The exterior is in very good shape. There are 2 pieces of the veneer missing along the top left side; they have been restained. The outside has a smooth finished surface, round keyhole and rounded top edges. Inside has the natural raw cedar wood. The outside bottom is unfinished. A key is included. The outside of the chest has scratches on the top and back. The inside has very minor stains. The lock will work but the latch will not allow the lock to fasten the lid down. Adjustment to the latch will be necessary to make the chest lock. The lid requires slight pressure to completely close. It was purchased at the estate sale of the owner of the Ramsey-Hess Furniture Store in Martinsburg. WV. and was in the lot of miniature Lane Cedar Chests that I purchased there. I have not been able to find a history of the W. O. Nicklas& Company except for an item that was listed on the Worthpoint site which was not very helpful. Please check my other auctions. Beautiful Lane Cedar Chest from the 1950's. Blonde laminate exterior. Check out the pictures for a more definitive description. The trunk measures 20" tall. 47" wide and 16 1/2" deep. In the last picture, I'm pointing to a small chip in the laminate, smaller than a dime in size. The chip doesn't go all the way through the laminate, so the color remains. This auction is for a Lane Cedar Blanket Chest. Style 1991-70. Serial#265130. Measures 44" wide. 22" tall and 18" deep. Has a pullout bottom drawer. No lock on this chest. There is some damage to the wood just to the left of the pullout drawer and a few surface scratches on the lid. The pullout drawer is dirty and could use cleaning or can be redone.
