They've been in air conditioned storage since that time. These were commonly used by the medical profession. They are rare. That's for sure. The finish of the paint is still in remarkable condition, though they still need a thorough cleaning. Many of the pictures show the shiny surface of the paint, which was manufactured by DuPont. The metal surface was prepared and sprayed with a rust proofer by the Parker Rust Proof Co, with their product called Bonderite. From the"How to care for SIMMONS FURNITURE guide" SIMMONS FURNITURE protected and enhanced with Du Pont satin-finished HI-BAKE DULUX. SIMMONS Steel furniture is specially finished with Hi-Bake DULUX for outstanding beauty and durability. DULUX is an exceptionally hard finish with excellent moisture resistance that protects against rust or corrosion. With proper care. SIMMONS furniture remains beautifully new for years. Overall condition is good. The drawers are in good condition. With the top drawers showing a little rust on the inside. The second drawer down has only a small amount of rust showing, and the bottom drawer shows no rust. The drawer guides could use some graphite to restore the smooth fluid movement of opening and closing. Each piece has it's own forgivings. I tried my best to display in detail the extent of the abrasions. Dents and scratches. Examine the pictures carefully. If you need larger pics, or perhaps a different view, contact me and I'll send you the requested pics asap. The footstool's fabric is intact- no rips. Tears, holes or cracks and the material is soft and pliable. Someone removed what appears to be shipping tape- and that managed to remove some of the color in a small area which is more noticeable in the pictures than in person. The main mat shows a pretty latticed window with hearts on the shutters. There is then what appears to be a window box underneath the window overflowing with flowers. To each side of the window there are tall arching stems of delphinium type flowers. The three mats have all been embroidered in the smallest of stiches. London: MAPPIN& WEBB This is a delightful and rather rare ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN solid sterling silver dressing table tray or pin dish which was made in London. England in 1901 by the illustrious Victorian silversmith, Mappin Brothers(later Mappin& Webb) at their Norfolk Street workshops. It is in a gorgeous ART NOUVEAU shape with lovely embossed flower decoration and has a beautiful scalloped lip. It is a lovely size. It measures 5 3/8" wide. 3 1/2" deep and stands almost 1/4" high- it weighs 54.8 grams- which is over 1 3/4 troy oz. It is NOT engraved. It is is in very good condition for its age with just the usual surface scratching and almost NO dings and NO dents collected over the last 110+ years of use- SUPERB- ... morewith no areas of over polishing. It still stands level. It is hallmarked with MnBros. F, lion passant(sterling silver assay mark) leopard head showing that it was hallmarked in London in 1901. This mirror is a real find! Heavy brass and marble in Classic Late Art Deco Design! It also has a very Hollywood look. But the design is very spare and elegant. Would work for both sexes. This is a very heavy piece. Over 8 lbs.11" high and 10" wide. The marble base is 1" thick. There is wear on the brass which is a good thing.great patina. The mirror is two sided. I purchased this piece at an Estate Sale years ago and I was given a small piece of an article in a european newspaper that I have attached a picture of. The article shows a picture that looks to be this piece and the it reads"An exquisite Adam period inlaid dressing table. The two over two drawer format features boldly figured crotched mahogany ogee drawers as well as fine brass pulls and inset escutcheons. The table probably had a harp mirror component on the glove box section at one point in time. This is a lovely bedroom piece which could also be used as a dining server if you so wish. The piece is raised on four octagonal formed legs which each have the original brass caster wheels. Each drawer is finely dovetailed and fitted with 19th century locks. Stunning amber phenolic bakelite catalin deco dressing table set tray pots etc
A very beautiful dressing table set consisting of a tray. Two lidded powder type pots and a fabulous barrel shaped trinket box. The black material is bakelite I think. Though it does give off a faint chemical smell when rubbed. The amber type material is of course phenolic. The tray measures 28cms x 17.5cms and is in super condition. No damage to the phenolic gallery or little feet. There are scuffs and signs of wear to the black base and some light mottling of the surface too but certainly nothing that detracts at all. The two little powder pots measure 6.1cms across and 3.7cms high not counting the black lid. A stunning and very rare Victorian pierced ormolu dressing table mirror. When placed on a dressing table the mirror is raised on two stepped and castellated feet and supported by an ornate easel stand. Alternatively the mirror can be wall mounted by the heavy hanging ring mounted on the back of the frame. The frame has the well detailed. High relief face of Bacchus at the top, adorned with vine leafs and grapes. Centrally at the base is a stylised acanthus leaf again cast in detailed high relief. The borders of the frame are formed from an elaborate stylised in scroll form vine complete with many bunches of grapes. The two candle arms are decorated in leaves and support the original leaf shaped bobeches and candle holders. The candle holders and bobeches are removable by way of a screw fitting for ease of cleaning etc. The thick arched mirror has a deep bevelled edge and is secured by a heavy placque on the frames rear. Dimensions: The mirror measures 39cm tall x 31cm wide. The candle branches extend 8cm to the front. Weight: 2653g's. Condition: The mirror is in good used condition. Antique Sorrento Dressing Table Box Welcome to my listing for Antique Italian Sorrento Ware Dressing Table Pin Box Late 19 th Century Polished Olivewood with an Inlaid Swallow Row of 11 Sliding Books In Excellent Condition L 5” 13cms x W 3.25” 8.5cms x H 1.75” 4.5cms A beautifully made and very charming little box. Dating from the end of the 19 th century. Designed for holding hairpins and hatpins on the dressing table. Still very useful even today(even if not for hatpins) Unlike much Sorrento ware this lovely little box was not aimed solely at the tourist market and so doesn’t have the name of an Italian town inked onto it. Super antique condition with minimal signs of wear as I hope you can see in the photos which can all be magnified to larger than life(some glare due to polished surfaces and magnification of the bird shows some white ... morelines around it- not visible with the naked eye) I’d guess that the box has been kept in a cabinet. There is a tiny sliver of wood missing from behind the row of books which would have locked the box when the row of books were slid into position. The wood.
