Veneers became popular in the late 17th and early 18th centuries as an economical way to adorn furniture with rare and expensive woods. Thin layers of individual wood patterns are cut and glued to a less expensive core. The first veneers were hand cut and fairly thick. Up to 1/8 inch. The backing on one side is warbled from moisture, but this warbling does not come all the way through to the inside, although there is some discoloration on the inside in that area, and the bottom boards are slightly warped. This is all at the bottom section of the case, and therefore does not show unless the bottom doors are opened.

PHILCO 42-344 CABINET Here is a good solid Philco cabinet- condition as shown in the photos. The condition for the age is good and the grille cloth is intact but shows thinning. There are some scratches and the veneer is good except for a small chip in the top rear and a thin dark spot bottom rear right. The plastic across the grille seems to be in good shape with light discoloration and a slight bow on the ends. The old antenna wire on the back should be replaced. For your man cave-Made by Man Electric Supply Co in New York and Chicago. Oak wood with the original finish. Measures about 10 1/2" tall and about 5 1/4" wide. Model 1481 C according to tag on front. 1618? hard to read printed on back. This was probably made for a hotel or apartment as there is no dialing mechanism. The earphone says 26 ohm and that is what it is-checked it with my ohmmeter. So it is good. Has exposed terminals, so is pretty old. Don't know about the inside electronics so sold as is, looks to be complete. As shown in picture there is a chip in the bakelite speaker bell. Sold as is, sold in USA only.

Vintage Hiwatt 4x12 cab speaker cabinet w/ Fane speakers EXCELLENT! NR!
Hi. This cab was bought new in 1982 by a friend of mine. See my other auctions this week for the matching Hiwatt DR103 head and a second 4x12 cab. This cab came with Fane's. And that's still what's in it. As you can see, it's in fantastic shape as it never left the guy's basement. This Fane cab does have one cosmetic flaw; the piping on the top has disintegrated a bit, but it's not too bad(see pics) Super loud, clean sounding 4x12 cab. It's hard to compare the sound of the two cabinets(this one and the Celestion loaded one I have on ebay) but I'd say they sound pretty much the same until you get them very loud, then the Fane is slightly browner, but the Celestion retains more high end. Chinese Hardwood Pagoda Meiji Period Side Cabinet– huanghuali wood Up for auction is this fantastic Chinese hardwood pagoda side cabinet. With carved bone inlays with dragon and griffin motifs, and lotus designs, complimented by geometric shapes throughout. This is a fantastic ornamental side cabinet two doors to either side of the centre panel and two drawers below the central motif. All of the handles are present for the doors and drawers which are in the shape of lotus flowers. In the top inlay there are three Chinese symbols which I believe mean“hope” but happy to be told otherwise. As the inlay is carved from bone there is undulation in the texture of carvings giving the piece the impression or movement and coming to life. I believe it dates from the early 20 th Century and would have been the work of one craftsman with wood being huanghuali ... morehaving the attractive grain and exhibits the“friendly ghost faces” which is typical of this wood. This would fit the date period and the carvings from my understanding. There is some damage to bone carving on the corner of one of the drawers and some minor cracking on some of the bone carvings at one side but in the main the piece is in good order. The top corner on the right hand side has been repaired(where someone has obviously picked it up by the side scrolls) There is also come discolouration to the bone. This may come off with proper cleaning. Not knowing how to clean bone other than dusting we have left it as is. This makes a wonderful edition to any living room/ dining room where it is a great talking point as you identify the great detail and craftsmanship of this item. This would work well as a small trinket cabinet. Or as a display piece all on its own. Hello all. Welcome. ITEM DESCRIPTION: Custom. One of a kind, hand made Chinese Red Lacquer prayer shrine cabinet. Hand built with hand carved accents of dragons. Can be used on a table or hung“properly” by the hooks attached to cabinet. Bottom tray that extends to display additional items. The carved dragon header piece is hinged and can lower down. A red light bulb and a multi-outlet adapter box to plug in any accessories such as a table fountain was added later. I believe that it was wired for China since the thin metal plug tongs do not fit snug in a US outlet but you can buy the adapter or re-wire it. I think that 2 of the plugs on the multi-outlet are US. But not grounded since this is old, so it does not fit the current standard large end grounded plug, although you can buy those adapters for just a $1 or so. ITEM CONDITION: Excellent ... morestructural condition. No cracks or major defects. A couple of minor dings and scuffs. Minor dust. Smudges, and a little tape residue which seem to be able to clean of with proper care. I just wiped of the dust for photos and avoided any chemicals or moisture. ITEM APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS: 16” deep X 18” wide X 26 1/2” high. The tray extended makes the depth 26 1/2” The hinged carved header piece lowered drops it to about 24” high. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: If you've read the additional comments of some of my other items you may already know 2013 will have many really nice items coming from a traveling world collector that I'll be helping liquidate his boxed up items. This was one of two shrines I bought from him with the other being 6 feet tall. The story behind these are that they were built in China at the early part of the 20 th Century for a textile business to have in their office were they paid their respects and lit incense. That textile business moved to San Francisco California in the late 50's or early 60's and the shrines moved with them. However 2 pieces of glass are missing. The door appears to be locked. The patina is lovely with correct wear. This lovely plate exhibits white chrysanthemums on a field of pale yellow& soft brown. With green entwined stems joining them around the border of the plate. This was a display plate, so it is in excellent condition, with very little to no wear on plate surface or gold rim. The reverse side exhibits the RS Blue mark. RS Germany is part of the wording in marks used by the German Tillowitz factory of Reinhold Schlegelmilch from 1914 until about 1945. 8-1/4” in diameter.

6 vintage door hooks latches for barn shed fence gate cabin out house cabinet
Six nice hooks. The longest one is 6 1/2 inches and the shortest is 3 1/2 inches. Five of them have a nice old patina and the other one is shiny like new except one side has a spot where the chrome like finish is blemished. The 3 1/4 inch one is a bit unusual. It's flat instead of round. They're all real clean. Check out the pictures for lengths.

This item is a hot rodded 1971 Fender Musicmaster Bass amp converted to a'50s"tweed" Princeton. The ingredients: It's built on a'71 Fender Musicmaster Bass Amp chassis. It's in a custom cabinet cut for a 10" speaker. I used a tone ring to adapt it to an 8" speaker. The circuit board is 5F1"tweed" Champ. I added a tone control to make it a"tweed" Princeton. The power transformer is'73 Princeton Reverb. So: It's a Musicmaster Bass/ Tweed Champ/ Tweed Princeton with a heavy duty SF Princeton transformer. It's in a custom Champ cabinet cut for a 10" speaker with a tone ring to ... moreadapt it to an 8" speaker. Got that? Tube lineup is 5Y3. 6V6 and 12AX7. It's not complicated to repair if necessary, simply use the'50s tweed Champ schematic. It probably won't ever need repair. Almost everything inside is new or NOS. The only used parts are the speaker, the'73 Princeton Reverb power transformer and the chassis. You can use any 10" 8 ohm speaker or any 8" 8 ohm speaker. The power supply is overbuilt. The transformers are oversized so this will likely run wide open into 4 ohms with no problems. This makes about 5 watts into 8 ohms. It has a more agressive overdrive tone than a Musicmaster Bass Amp or a'60s Champ. The original Musicmaster Bass circuit was a mess. It looked like every solder joint had been re-soldered with a cigarette lighter. Almost every wire was burnt. No worries. I stripped it to a bare chassis rebuilt it. This item is seller refurbished with new or NOS parts. It is sold in"AS-IS" condition to U.S. bidders ONLY. NO EXPORT! AS-IS" means"AS-IS" I have much more time into this than I'm getting paid for.
