This listing is for a beautiful Baker Furniture buffet. Sideboard or bar cabinet. Made in Italy this heirloom piece is from the Milling Road collection. We are the original owners and purchased it from a Baker Gallery about 9 years ago. It is richly detailed and thoughtfully made for multifunctional use. The piano type hinges and knobs are an antiqued brass. There are two paper lined drawers over two doors that open to a very large amount of storage. Standing on raised legs, the cabinet has paneled doors and sides. There is one shelf inside that is adjustable and there is a pre-made opening that allows for wires in the event you wish to store electronics, appliances(small refrigerator if you want to use it in a guest room) or a TV. There is a 5" scratch on the bottom of the inside of the cabinet but it cannot be seen with the doors closed ... moreor if you are storing something inside. I think the piece is mahogany wood and it is in a distressed country French/Italian type of finish. This gorgeous Baker cabinet would make an incredible addition to your home. The wood is a brilliant mahogany which has developed a rich patina over the years. It boasts a lovely grain with some very impressive lighter tones. The mahogany is also complimented by satinwood string inlay. Mahogany cross banding, and a Georgian style satinwood fan inlay. These inlays are present on the top, cabinet doors and ... moreupper drawer. The central inlay on the top is by far the most impressive. Each of the cabinets of this sideboard features working locks and the right cabinet has a removable wooden shelf. The upper central drawer also has a working lock. And the piece comes with one key. The hardware on the drawer and cabinets is solid brass that also goes with the mahogany quite well. The six legs of this sideboard are all square and tapered, and have spade feet. Overall. The condition of this piece is excellent. There are slight, dark marks to the top which appear to be intentional distressing done by the maker. The beautify of the mahogany wood combined with the serpentine shape and well used inlay is what really draws your eye, making this sideboard an excellent piece for an area where you want people to really see it. This large mahogany veneer beauty came from an old Manhatten, NY estate just a couple months ago here to Maine where it has sat in the hallway of a home I just picked. Here is an absolutely delightful large antique federal style sideboard or buffet with gorgeous flame mahogany veneers. Columns with detailed carving above and below with very detailed fabulous carved lion's feet on the front legs. The large lovely cabinet has a really nice top surface with a number of faint or light scratches but no major gauges, stains, chips or other serious damage to the top as I attempt to show in my photographs. It is a somewhat oversize functional piece of furniture and perfect for a front entry hall, hallway, dining room or any room in your home or business. It has three drawers and three large open cabinets with lots of extra storage in a classic 19th century Federal style sideboard in very nice condition and ready to make a statement in your home or office.
