From the materials used to the production values themselves. Everything about this bookcase is of the utmost quality. The flame mahogany, for instance, displays a remarkably rich complexion and a pronounced grain that are sure to look great in any setting. Complementing the exquisite wood is not only the fine, stained interior, but also the solid brass, winged escutcheons, all of which house functioning locks. The astragal glass itself is quite elegant, providing a classic appearance and a clear, beautifully framed view into the interior of the bookcase. Each section of glass on every door is an individual pane of glass. Shaped bracket feet provide sturdy support, while all shelves are fully adjustable. The bookcase of course disassembles into several pieces: the top moulding, the center upper section, the left and right upper sections, and the base. This is also how the bookcase will ship. Each shelf has a depth of 14.5″ and is adjustable by means of a wooden alligator bracket system. If you are unfamiliar with this system we have included a picture of it. There are light dings and one more noticeable ding on the front of the secretary where it drops down(see pics#10, 11) There are also a few tiny chips low on the front two feet and one chip on the very back side of the secretary top. It is not very noticeable when it is against the wall, unless you are looking at the back(see pic#12) The Ethan Allen name is stamped in the top drawer and the date as well as the item number are stamped on the back. A very nice antique. Circa 1840's, Empire flame mahogany veneers, mahogany, and mahogany stained maple, bookcase with butler's desk base. Two piece construction. The bookcase has mahogany"piecrust" bandings to the Gothic doors and the cornice. Original wavy glass panels. Interior with two adjustable maple shelves with flame mahogany fronts. Two ogee drawers are below. The butler's desk was a top drop down front with cubbyholes and single drawer. New green felt writing surface. Two long drawers below over case on mahogany bracket feet. Furniture measures 7'3" 87" tall by 3'10" 46" wide by 29" deep, the shelves 9" deep. Very good plus condition, very nicely refinished. Veneers without chips or repairs(gouge to the veneer on edge of case by butler's desk. All door knobs are original ... moreand matching. All six locks with keys present(missing the brass keyhole surround to one drawer. Both glass panels without damage. The left side and right side case boards have a vertical age crack. Superb Antique Style Hand Painted Italian Vintage Bureau Bookcase Louis XV Style
This is a very nice hand painted Bureau or Secretary Bookcase in the Louis XV style. It was made in Italy. To the front it has a drop flap for writing with 2 pull out supports. Above there are two doors to the top, all hand painted with many flowers. It has the three drawers below with the original handles. The base has a very nice skirt and sits on french style cabriole legs. I will have more pictures Monday when the bookcase is delivered. The picture above was taken in the home in Palm Beach. measurements are 88 tall. 46 wide, 20 deep. If you need any more information please call 561 804 6700. Very nice early Globe Wernike mission arts bookcase section with its top piece. The case is in excellent original condition. The top piece that goes with it does have some grain lifting on one end and a circular ring stain near the middle. Both of which I pictured to the best of my abilities. The case is solid flumed oak.

The top has a heavy moulded cornice leading down to a full glazed panel door. The door is surmounted by crisply carved classical motifs. The davenport has a sloped black tooled leather writing surface and sits on heavy high Victorian carved columns. Two long colums are to either side of the surface and six drawers to the sides at the back. This is a piece of furniture of great quality. It was originally commissioned for the Great Exhibition and was purchased in 1996 for £15.000.
