Here is a gorgeous solid walnut Empire Revival bookcase from about 1880. Only two shelves are shown in the photos. However, there are four removable/adjustable shelves. The lock sets are original in the door and drawers and there are two keys which both. Easy to transport and to break down and set up. This bookcase has the base, the crown and then, basically, a stack of wood to include the two glass doors. Antique Primitive Painted 19th C Bookcase Southern Heart Pine Square Nails
A great primitive bookcase with lots of character. It is made out of Southern heart pine with gorgeous patina and pattern on the backside. Has original. Old black paint over even earlier barn red paint. Early pieces of furniture like this were usually multifunctional and compact so they didn't take up too much room. This bookcase has a slim profile, and little cubby holes for storage and 4 shelves. At one time it had a drop down shelf, making it useful as a desk; sadly that part is gone leaving holes where it was attached and the break in the wood where the square nails are visible. The nails and the colors of paint used, black and barn red paint are early colors, leads me to think this bookcase leans towards very early 1800’s, could be earlier or later, I’m not an expert just did a little research about primitives. Grand Victorian Solid Rosewood Fall Front Secretary Desk with Bookcase Top c1865& Key Being presented for sale is this Grand Solid Rosewood Early Victorian Fall Front Secretary Desk with Bookcase Top circa 1865.This fantastic Victorian Fall Front Secretary Desk features a broken arch top with a fabulous turned finial at the center.Early hand-cut dovetailed construction through-out and on the drawer ends with a working tasseled key for the bookcase top and drawers; and a beautiful curly maple fitted interior in the desk portion which also has newer replacement felt on the writing surface. There is a key provided for the desk portion which just aids in opening the desk and doesn't work the lock.The bookcase portion offers three adjustable shelves that each measure 41 1/2 inches wide by 9 inches deep which provides ample display opportunities ... morefor books and collectibles.This secretary breaks down into two pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. This Victorian secretary has a commanding presence and is full of character and features an abundance of fine details. Description This is a great piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of walnut and is currently painted. It was originally the frame to a built in armoire but this is all that could be salvaged. The legs are carved and topped with ornate carved corbels. The pediments at the ends have raised panels. Dentil molding and carved crowns. The center pediement has carved brackets. Ornate moldings, and a nice classical crown. It will make a nice back bar. Bookcase, or butlers pantry face. It measures 115.25 inches wide. By 114 tall. It disassembles to load into a van or pick up truck. Overall. It is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. Antique Globe Wernicke 6-Stack 299 Grade Oak Stacking Lawyers Barrister Bookcase
Up for bid is a wonderful 6-stack Globe Wernicke lawyers or barristers bookcase made of quartersawn oak. All sections are the very desirable Grade 299(quarter sawn/tiger oak with the medium finish) Has the very desirable ogee(curved) top and bottom. All sections are size D-10 1/4. Bookcase is ALL ORIGINAL. Original finish. Original wavy glass, original knobs on the doors. Bookcase is ALL COMPLETE. All labels are present and intact. All glass is present(no cracks or breaks) All felt along the tops of the doors is complete and intact. All scissors mechanisms are present. All acid-etched side bands are correct and present. I rescued over 20 sections from a storage room of an old Chicago school library, and these 6 sections were in the best condition. Condition of the sections is way above average for their age. After 100 years the finish on ... morethese cases has usually"alligatored" Not here. Although there are the usual scratches and chips in the finish, which is to be expected(there is a rub of white paint on the right side of one section shown in the photos) the outside finish is overall extremely smooth with a nice gloss. The very top has the most wear and scratches as the librarians slid and stacked items on top of the cases. There is also the reside from 2 old pieces of cellophane tape on the front of the top. I can find no delamination of the back panels, nor any bubbling of the veneer on the very top. Being in a library for so many years has preserved them nicely. Overall size of the bookcase is 84" tall x 34" wide x 12" deep. If you need more photos. Or have additional questions, please email me. This VERY RARE piece is in BEAUTIFUL condition(see pictures) with only a minor scratch on the glass about 8" up from front knob. Measurements: 34-1/8" x 12-1/8" x 15-3/4" high. It is all original. it has a drawer in the base on the bottom, 5 stacking sections and a top. The finish is original with a darker stain that has faded and worn in some spots as shown. there is no damage to any of the glass, but I am not sure it is all original. No makers mark can be found, but I am pretty sure it is a Globe Wernick. Side straps and sissors guides on the top insides are pretty consistant with there cases. Measures, 68 inches tall, is 34 inches wide and about 11 inches deep, on the bottom and the sep back sections are 9 1/2 inches deep the top 3 sections are 8 inches tall inside, next section is 9 tall inside, and bottom section is about 12 inches tall inside for books. there are 5 bookcase sections ... moreand a top and bottom.
