There is a small dent inside the bookcase. It appears that something fell on the back of the bookcase. You can't see the dent unless you open the bookcase doors or look at it from behind. There are some holes for screws in the back of the bookcase where you can attach the bookcase to the cabinet, but I don't have the hardware that holds these 2 together. Each piece is labeled with a part number and name, so it appears that they must have been sold separately. This is for local pickup in Irving, TX. As I believe they had a brand called Library Bureau. Its hardware& moldings look similar to some of the Globe styles. In any case. It's a nice bookcase in good shape, with very clean lines, nice golden-oak color and appears to be constructed of mainly quarter-sawn oak with little if any veneer on the main exposed parts(excepting the back of course, and possibly the bottoms inside which look like a clear maple) The finish appears intact, with its age-related character. We've given this a cleaning, you may want to go further with perhaps some steel wool, decades of office-life generally leave these old barristers with their typical use-related'Character' ... moreplease see the photos) which to my eye is all part of the antique. We used this piece for holding antiquarian natural history books and art-books. For which it works excellently. But old Barrister Bookcases are great for displaying many sorts of things, keeping them dust-free& safe. This is a piece made by a machinist/welder in Minneapolis. It is a one of a kind piece and is made out of various tools and parts. It is mostly black iron. Nice worn patina. It is slightly warped and might look better with different shelves? If I get ambitious I will fashion new ones. But for now these cedar shelves look nice. 5 Piece Lighted Wall Unit, Glass Doors, Bookcase, Entertainment Center
This wall unit doesn’t fit into our new apartment so regrettably. We have to sell. The wall units are a set, but of course they are separate pieces. Each unit is 80 inches high. This is pressed wood with brass accents. The total of all five pieces in a row, as in the pictures, is 138 inches long and 19 inches deep. The three central units are 34 inches wide and each corner unit is 18 inches wide with a beautiful curved side. If you notice in pictures there is damage in two places: a piece of glass is broken from the corner of one of the glass doors and there is residue of a book support on one of the shelves. The wall units are very heavy. But they are on the ground floor and can be easily transported. I paid almost $2500 for the set, but we need to leave and are letting it go for $450. Please review the pictures and determine condition for your self. The basic premise of the game is players represent collectors attempting to gather sets of valuable properties and artifacts. coins. Antiques, miniatures, etc. These sets are worth handsome sums at game's end. Individual pieces of a set are worthless at game's end, but are able to be sold during the course of the game in order to provide a cash-flow. These'properties' are represented on cards. There are 12 different types of properties. Varying from 3- 6 pieces per set. Naturally, the sets containing six pieces are much more valuable than the sets containing only three pieces as it is ... moremuch more difficult to complete these larger sets. Each player is dealt six cards and given a starting'fund' of $2.000. The top'property' card is revealed and a bidding ensues. The winner pays the bank and takes the card into his hand. The player then has the option of selling 1- 3 properties to the bank. The idea here is to rid yourself of properties that you do not wish to collect and provide a source of income. There is danger. However. The sales price is determined randomly via the roll of two dice. The price can vary from 25% 100% of the listed worth of the item. Further, if a'0' is rolled on one of the dice, then the item is NOT sold outright, but rather an auction takes place amongst the players. This can result in a substantially reduced price to the seller, or a higher price, depending upon the demand for the item. A very fine antique. Circa 1840, Empire plain mahogany boards, with some flame mahogany veneers, bookcase top secretary desk over two door cabinet. Two piece construction: the bookcase with three adjustable wood shelves, the interior with an old ivory paint finish. Both doors retain their original wavy glass, brass escutcheon, key and lock. The drop front desk has a felt writing surface, cubbyhole with two drawers and letter slots. The two bottom doors have a brass grill over dowel framed pink fabric, with brass escutcheon and lock. The compartment has a removable wood shelf. The furniture measures 7'2" 86" tall by 2'1" 25" wide by 22-1/2" deep, the bookcase shelves 10" deep. This is an especially nice quartered quarter sawn oak barrister bookcase. Many of these barristers were made by Globe Wernicke or Macey-I do not know who manufactured this bookcase. Piece is quite unusual with leaded and beveled glass doors in each section. In addition. The top is a pretty carved design rather than the more common plain design normally seen. This is certainly a very fine quartered quarter sawn oak Danner bookcase. Interesting sliding door bookcase(works perfectly) which we have refinished with a smooth and even finish. Danner bookcases were made in Ohio in the early 20th century. This model has the original leaded glass windows on the top section and the original plain glass windows in the bottom section. The design of these bookcases were much like a barrister bookcase in that each section'stacks' on top of the lower one; made for easy moving. Etc. Each side has original adjustable shelves. The drawers and doors function perfectly and the entire unit is stable and sturdy. We do believe that the shelves and glass have been added/replaced since the piece was made. They do not seem as old as 1870. There are also some age separations on the bottom panels of both doors which can be seen in the photos. An antique Walnut Cabinet with Glass Doors on the front. With both shelf and drawer space, circa 1850. We are pleased to present this antique Walnut Cabinet for your consideration. It features four adjustable shelves in the interior(plus one at the bottom that is not adjustable) In addition. There are two drawers at the bottom. The shelves are protected behind two glass doors, which makes this piece ideal for use as a display cabinet or book shelf needing dust protection for the contents. Ornate wood trim is found over the upper portions of both doors. The shelf adjustment system is shown as an inset to our picture#5. A small board fits into slots found at the front and back. The board then provides support for the shelf above. The two large doors have a locking mechanism. But the key appears built in. It does not look like it is original ... moreto the piece. The trim plate on the lock is free to spin around, but in good physical shape(it needs to be secured with a couple of small nails) The two lower pieces of glass show substantial"ripple" Typical of antique glass production. It is much less obvious on the upper two pieces, and we guess that they were replaced more recently. The trim over the upper glass has some splits and shade differences, suggesting repairs or replacements have been made. The drawers at the bottom appear to have their original hardware. Each has a large lock mechanism in the center. But we do not have the matching key. Handles are quite heavy and substantial, with large ornate plates behind the handles. The fronts of the drawers are covered with a beautiful Birds Eye Maple veneer, which shows some small chips around the edges. Dovetail joints are found at the front, with more of a box style joint found at the back(see pictures#8 and#9 for close up detail) The Cabinet measures 78 inches high(68 inches exclusive of the trim piece at the back edge of the top. RAYMOR NO. 7 PIANO LAMP MODERNIST CHROME & LUCITE BOOKCASE LIGHT
Interesting lamp by Raymor with a swiveling chrome ball head. And a lucite and chrome base. Designed to hang off a shelf or piano top with a very heavy weight at one end to offset the weight of the chrome light shade. There is an identical lamp to this currently on 1st Dibs which still had its label with the information that it was a Raymor No. 7 Piano Lamp. Type the name into Google and you can see more pictures of this same lamp. This lamp does not have its label any longer. Most likely from the 60's or 70's. Chrome ball head detaches from base and is pivots to direct light. Socket takes a 30 or 50 watt reflector bulb. Lucite base is about 7.5" wide and overall length of lamp is about 19.5" long. Chrome is in very good condition overall. There is one shallow crease about 1" long to left side of ball about half way ... moredown which is pictured. It is not very deep and no break to surface of chrome. I have had the lamp several years and never even noticed it was there till I took pictures. The interior has three separated compartments with adjustable shelving. Great quality and construction! A truly impressive and elegant piece! Dimensions: 78.50 inches high. 72 7/8 inches wide/ long and 18.75 inches deep. Condition: This piece is antique and has the usual wear associated with its age. It has dents. Nicks, scuffs, scratches, stains, chips, cracks and mars associated with normal age usage. Please see pictures.
