You see the condition, she definitely has character. The bare wood was once covered with a heavy type decorative paper, most of that is gone but you see some remnants of that in places. The original label was found in the trunk. It belonged to a gentleman in Escanaba Michigan. Maybe you can reincorporate the label back into a repurpose project(maybe lacqure it onto the top side? Primitive Wood Box Trunk 14 x 7.5 x 7.5 Handmade Hardware Treasure Chest Antique
Wonderful patina and full of character! This old wood box measures about 14" wide. 7-1/2" tall and 7-1/2" deep. The hand made hardware is just great. Clearly, the 2 brass hinges on the back are not original, and a repair has been made in one of the hinge areas. Also, it looks like part of the front right medallion might be missing. Not much known about this relic. It was purchased at an estate sale in Scottsdale, Az. Please take your time viewing and enlarging the photos as they are an important part of the description. We're hoping they will help with identification.

Vintage Antique National Vulcanized Fibre Co. Trunk For Sale (1890-1930s)
This is a wardrobe trunk that has been stored in our attic for more than 20 years. It was made by the National Vulcanized Fibre Co. We do not know exactly what year it was made but by doing some research we found that these trunks were made anywhere from 1890 to around the 1940s. The inside of the trunk is in excellent condition and the outside does show wear. But it is extremely old. The lock on the trunk no longer works because we didn't have a key and we had to pry the lock off. It didn't do any damage to the trunk itself and the lock still is intact, just not usable. The clasps on the outside both work and will secure the trunk closed. All the drawers on the inside are original and have no damage. The leather handle on the side is still intact and handled carrying the 75 pound trunk. The trunk has been closed the entire time in ... morethe attic and kept ALL mice and animals out. Authentic Antique Louis Vuitton Trunk Rare Hat Trunk ? 1890's
Here we have an amazing AUTHENTIC trunk by Louis Vuitton. This is in good. Sound condition although the outside covering has deteriorated over the years. Every brass tack is marked Louis Vuitton the lock is marked Louis Vuitton even the wood across the bottom has Louis Vuitton embossed. This measures 24 inches by 15 inches tall. It is 11inches front to back. Amazingly it still retains its inside tray and the Louis Vuitton tag. The tray measures 22.5" by 9.5" and is 6.5" deep. The trunk weighs 19.5 pounds. I cannot find a serial number, perhaps someone can tell me where to look? It does have a key number which is 02077. The hardware is marked Btf SCDG PATENT 1 RUE SCRIBE PARIS, LOUIS VUITTON London 149 New Bond Street. Made in France. It is musty smelling( from age and the Northwest) and has many many stains but it is not wet ... moreand it is sturdy and maintains its integrity. It has a few stains in the bottom back corners( inside) which give a bit when you push on them, but again it doesn't appear too bad. Here's a Very Old. Antique Miniature Arch Top Trunk for Dolls. Please, see all the pics as they are an important part of the description. This is from the 1800s and from what I can gather, through a little research, it's probably from the 1850s to 1870s but, I'm not positive.you girls who collect these things will know by looking at it, immediately. It Measures 14" Long X 8 1/8" Front to Back X 9" Tall. Both the Trunk and the Tray are structurally sound with no loose joints or corner wiggling or racking.it's firm all around. The Latch is Original, I believe but the rear hinges look to be of a later date. The Original painted cotton cloth covering(over the wood) which is what they used back then(much the same as many full-sized trunks from back then) is torn and/or missing in several areas. RARE ANTIQUE HAT TRUNK Late 1800's To The Turn Of The 1900's CHEST
I have never seen a trunk this size. It measures 21" tall by 19" wide and 19" deep. It is in great condition and I have not replace the missing handles because I did not see the need. The lid is slightly round about 1" of height difference. The inside makes me think it might have been a rare hat trunk!

For sale today is a beautifully restored smaller size humpback trunk with smooth tin. I found one patent date on the lock of December 1874 which makes this neat old humpback as much as 140 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the metal bottom is solid. Has multiple coats of paint, three original slats, four new metal whee and the trunk rolls easily. The two original hinges are HD, tight and the lid closes well. There are 26 polished pieces of original hardware. The center lock is polished and there is no key. Trunk-n-Treasure Beautiful Refinished Flat Top Steamer Antique Trunk W/tray
Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Trunk with Working Lock and keys Here at Trunks-n-treasures we take pride in the trunks that we have refinished for the past 8 years. We have refinished hundreds of trunks. Each one with the craftsmanship that we have learned from growing up around our grandparents watching them run and refinish furniture in their antique shop. This particular trunk is a very nice, clean refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside. We then removed the canvas from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This gorgeous trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the canvas we sanded all the wood and then applied tung oil as a finish. After much research we have found that by using tung oil, ... morenot only does it not leave such a strong odor as other finishes, but it also penetrates the wood preventing the wood from drying out so quickly. On this trunk are two new Amish leather handles. You will the original lid stay to help keep the lid open. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has also been repainted by hand in black and gold. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. Dropping down to the bottom of the trunk we have also applied tung oil to the bottom to give it a new refinished look and repainted the metal black. The size of this trunk is perfect for its use as a hope chest to keep all your precious belongings in. It would also make an excellent wine rack. This beautiful trunk would look very nice placed at the foot of a bed. It could also be used by a college student. It could also be used as a blanket chest. Antique Cast Iron Elephant Cigarette Dispenser / Early, Trunk Down Type - Rare
This cast iron Elephant cigarette dispenser appears to date from the 1930's; however. I cannot locate any tags or makers marks. The cigarettes would be stored in the chest above the elephant and are dispensed below the elephant by turning the elephants tail. The black color is not the original color. See below the chest lid for the original color- which appears to have been golden. Please Note- The right hinge section of the lid has a slight bend where it appears to have been slightly damaged- this could probably be straightened. But I will leave this decision to its future owner. The lower ramps are slightly bent as well. The round ashtray and original holder are missing from the below the elephant, but the original screw holes in the base of the elephants feet are still present. Antique 1910 EXCELSIOR Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk Leather 42" x 23" Yellow
Early Vintage Travelling Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk dates back to about 1910. 42" tall X 23" wide and deep. Cured genuine leather stretched over a sold wood frame. Yellow in color with a nice patina. All edges and corners protected by brass plating. There are 6 functioning ball type wheels on the bottom which allows the user to roll the trunk while flat. And an additional 2 functioning wheels allow the user to roll the trunk while standing on end and towing with the leather handle(picture shown) All metal edges do have some wear but this gives the trunk a great look. The locking hardware is functioning. And is stamped EXCELSIOR#4230 Made in Stamford, Conn USA. Excelsior began making this lock in 1910. The locking mechanism is controlled by the exterior latch which in turn stabilizes the drawers for travel(shown in picture) There ... moreis 1 key from the Independent Lock Co#1076 Made in Fitchburg. The traveller may lift the padded top portion of the trunk up using the attached hinges to reveal and unlock the hanging garments(see main picture) There are 5 drawers which feature the same copper damask on their fronts. And brown lining within(picture shown) The top drawer is missing the lock, the bottom drawer is missing the handle, and both drawers do have a little water damage. There are 4 original hangers(1 shirt. 1 pant, and 2 coat) These hangers rest upon a chrome bar which extends outward 18" to allow the traveller to peruse their garments and avoid wrinkling. The hanging garments are protected from dust during travel by a copper damask curtain that snaps closed at the bottom. Approximated weight is 85 lbs. For sale today is a very nicely restored smaller size antique humpback trunk and the restoration turned out very well. I found one patent date on the lid stay of May 1873 which makes this awesome old humpback a 110 to 130 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the metal bottom is in good solid condition. Has had multiple coats of clear applied and the three heavy duty original bottom slats.The trunk has the two original hinges which are fancy and tight and work well. There are 28 pieces of original polished hardware and has the original center lock which has been polished- no key. A new black leather lid lifter has been installed. Beautiful Refinished Dome Top Steamer Antique Trunk w/ Tray, Label,Lock & Key
Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Trunk with Working Lock and key. Here at Trunks-n-treasures we take pride in the trunks that we refinish. We have refinished hundreds of trunks. Each one with the craftsmanship that we have learned from growing up around our grandparents watching them run and refinish furniture in their antique shop. This particular trunk is a very nice, clean refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside. We then removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This gorgeous trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the metal we sanded all the wood and then applied tung oil to it as a finish. After much research we have found that tung oil works best because it replenishes ... morethe wood and prevents it from drying out so quickly. On this trunk are two new Amish leather handles. The latches on this beautiful trunk also work to keep the lid secure. The latches have the patent date of July 9, 1872. The lid of this particular trunk also has the original manufacturer label in great condition. Also on the lid there is trunk stay to keep the lid open when wanted. The lock for this trunk comes with two working keys. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has also been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. We have also made a tray to fit the inside of this trunk so you have two levels of storage. Dropping down to the bottom of the trunk we have also applied tung oil to the bottom to give it a new refinished look along with painting the metal black. ANTIQUE STAR TRUNK LOCK SMALL KEY - HARD TO FIND - 19TH CENTURY
This is an old key for some Star Lock Works trunk locks that have the straight vertical slot and the April 1877 patent date(see pictures) The key measures 1 1/2" long and is the style that fits many of the smaller Star locks. It may not work for every one of these but they have worked on the ones I have had in the past. It is an original Star Lock Works trunk lock key. Very hard to find. Primitive Antique Folk Art Hide Covered Trunk This is an excellent antique hide covered trunk with black smith made handles. The trunk itself is very solid and sturdy with hold but sound hinges. The hide has come loose along the edges and has a couple tears but is all there. You could tack it down using brass tacks and even put designs in it to secure the hide and improve on the appearance. The trunk is a traveling garment trunk manufactured by"BAL" of New York(see photo of plaque) The knuckles and catches on the outside of the trunk are heavy duty cast iron. The lock in the center is in good working order and comes with two keys. The left side of the interior is comprised of seven drawers that are 21" wide and 5" to 8" tall. The drawers are 12" deep. Also on the left side among the drawers is a small 5" x 5" safe(key missing) The right side of the interior is for garments. There is a pull out garment rack that hangs from the top. First of all I will date it to be from the 20s or 30s.it's been stored for over 50 years and the newspaper in the bottom headlined with Hitler/Mussolini.so.there's that. Antique Trunk Handles.Large Ornate Cast Iron Pair Of Eastlake Inset Handles
Absolutely beautiful matched pair of antique trunk handles salvaged from a wooden carpenter trunk or tool box. These handles are from the early 1900's. The tool chest was all rotten wood and did not survive. But these did! They have been cleaned with soap and water, dried, and clearcoated with automotive clear. They still retain the original, as-found rust color under the clearcoat, but if desired you can sandblast them and restore them. This is a wonderful look though, and it really brings out the details. They are heavy cast iron, with no cracks or chips. Each handle weighs just over one pound, and the measurements are shown in the photos. Only pair like this on eBay, so don't pass them up. Antique Asian Hand carved Ornate Camphor Wooden chest trunk
Very beautiful chest. In excellent condition except for a very few scuffs here and there, but I guess this is normal since it is quite old! You should be able to restore it. When you open the chest, it gives off a wonderful smell of camphor wood. The chest is very well made, please look at the pictures. It has 5 different carved images, 1 on each side, and 1 on top. The mechanism to open the chest is in good condition. The chest does not have the locking mechanism in tact. The color of the wood is 2 different shades, light and dark, giving the chest a great depth dimension.Also take note of the beautifully carved"feet" of the chest, it actually depicts the head of some sort of dragonlike creature. It has a really nice patina and good surface from age and use- it displays wonderfully. It is made from wood(pine or poplar) most likely but could be made from another wood and is a nice one with a very unique metal body with a wooden base and lid. It is a sturdy box or trunk and may have been used an an ice box or possibly even safe or lock box. It has a lock of which we found a key that works on the lock- and we are including it with the box. It has a really nice surface from years of age and use- just the way you like to find your country items. The top is painted ... morewith an old dark brown paint and has wonderful wear. The metal(sheet iron or some refer to it as tin) front is riveted to the wooden base and lid and is painted as well- has remnants of paint and areas where paint has worn away- just the way you like to find your antique items. It displays really neatly and could be used for storage. It measures approx 20.75" long and 10.75' wide and approx 10.5" tall. Antique Curved Leather Top Saratoga Trunk Offering you beautiful curved Dome top trunk. This trunk once was quite an expensive beauty. The curved top. Plentiful nails and amazing-fine hardware makes this a high-end piece, often known as a Saratoga Trunk. The reason for the curved top is to ensure that this trunk would go on the top of the stack. Rather than having trunks stacked on top of it, damaging the contents. I have not altered or refinished this trunk. I purchased it from a lady who stated it was in the stable area of her very old, victorian home. The home was built in the early 1900's. INSIDE: I believe it is constructed of Pine with a floral paper design. Which means this trunk belonged to a Woman. OUTSIDE: Has a dark metal/tin tone. 4) wooden, Elm? vertical slats on the dome top, 2) horizontal wooden slats on the front& ... moreback, 1) wooden slat on each side. There is a 16" wide(wooden slats divide the leather area) Leather type Alligator design area on the top that extends down the front and back and along both sides. The metal work is very nice and when this trunk was new, must have been gorgeous. There are(8) metal shield type designs holding down the top wood slats. On the top side ends, there are large metal Crown like designs. There are(2) brown leather handles. 1 handle is torn but repairable. This trunk was definitely for a woman of importance. Approximate Dimensions: 22" High@ the highest-middle 32.5" Wide 17.5" Deep Condition: This trunk is in good antique condition. There is normal wear. Which is expected, due to it's age. The bottom inside does have a few minor cracking in the wood. There is not a lock on the trunk. All the nails& design hardware are there, as far as I can see. Antique 1920s Suitcase by Shwayder Trunk Mfg. Co. with Cornell U. Gym Clothes This is an early Cornell University student travel train case or suitcase from the 1920's. This was made by The Shwayder Trunk Co. which later became Samsonite. The size is about 24" l x 8" w x 13" high(closed) There is an old paper university seal on one side that reads"The Cornell University" This leather(or faux leather) case has a pair of outside straps made of a hard rubber. The case has metal protectors at all of the corners. With black coating on them(possibly nickel or nickel plated) This has the last owner's monogram on the top- LMB' in gold. The center lock latch works and reads: Shwayder Trunk Mfg. Co. no key) The outside pair of latches are also marked: Shwayder, Denver, Detroit. The inside is a brown plaid type of ... morematerial, very stiff, on top of a center cardboard divider, with 4 leather straps to hold clothes in place. Problems: 1 inside strap is broken/detached from the case; some wear to the lining(unknown material) a small tear near an outside corner; the outside rubber straps(2) are deteriorating BUT have a heavy woven center core. There is a patent pending number on the hard rubber handle that dates it to 1928. We are not certain if this is LEATHER OR FAUX LEATHER. It is stiff with a textured surface like leather but the stiffness tends to lead us to think it might be what is called leatherette. There are no strong odors. Just some mustiness as this sat unopened for quite some time. Along with the suitcase. Are the clothes that were packed inside. There are a number of pieces of women's gym clothes. The initials on the suitcase match the students name which is marked inside each piece of clothing. In full or as just initials, LMB(Lucile M. Backus) According to a Google search, she graduated in the Class of 1936. CLOTHING INCLUDES(no sizes marked on garments- they seem be in the range of small to medium- kept loose in that time period for young ladies in athletic programs) 1 pc.

Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk Excellent Condition
This is a refinished antique steamer trunk. The age is estimated to be late 1800's to early 1900's. The manufacturer is unknown. But the lock is a Yale and Towne MFG Co. Stamford, Conn. It has all of the original hardware. There is new leather straps and handles, as well as all new nails. The canvas has been refinished as well. The inside is a red mahogany stain. The tray is missing and there is no lock. The trunk looks fantastic and would be a great piece for the house. The trunk measures 33" Long x 22" Tall x 18.5" Deep.
