The date on the metal corners is Nov 1867 so I believe it dates ... moreto sometime around that period. It's 20 inches long. 12 inches wide and 11 inches tall. You see the condition, she definitely has character. The bare wood was once covered with a heavy type decorative paper, most of that is gone but you see some remnants of that in places. The original label was found in the trunk. It belonged to a gentleman in Escanaba Michigan. Maybe you can reincorporate the label back into a repurpose project(maybe lacqure it onto the top side? There is leather and metal construction incorporated into this little trunk. The leather handle is broken and the leather straps are gone with just some of their remnants being in place. The trunk is still 100% solid. This trunk will make a killer repurpose project, you just need to use your imagination, is it a small table, a small storage trunk for a big city loft apartment? It's a beautiful trunk with tons of character and that true folk art flavor. Many trunks that were highly decorated like this were wedding trunks but who can know? It has a hinged lid as you can see in the pictures. The trunk has red white and blue with some green accents. The paint appears to be painted over what appears to be a green trunk that has some Romanian name lettering on the front. It was probably a trunk that originally came over by ship then painted by the owner after getting to America. This is all original and has nicks. Chips and scrapes, and worm marks on it as you'd expect from an item of this age. The painting on the front and sides is very colorful and worn through several areas to base color. Wow! That's amazing! The trunk is wonderfully hand painted. Inside. The trunk is clean. There's a little tray on the left side inside, and it still has the original cover or lid to the tray. One of the hinges on the lid of the trunk was replaced at some point but is still old. The hardware on the sides is old and ornate. There are no square nails in this trunk that we can see and there are a number of worm holes at the bottom of the front and under the front lip. This is typical for old trunks like this as they've been around the block(and world) It's an nice size and is 39" wide(at the lid) L x 16" W x 14" H. It weighs about 50 lbs. we'd guess. This is a very nice trunk for those of you who love Primitives or folk art. It's one of a kind! It would certainly make for an interesting conversation piece. Thank you for looking at this item. For sale today is a larger size nicely restored humpback stagecoach trunk and the restoration turned out just awesome! I did not find any patent dates on thr trunk and based on 40 years experience restoring trunks I would date this trunk to the 1860's to 1880's which makes this wonderful old humpback a 120 plus years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and it has a good wooden bottom. The wood has multiple coats of clear applied and has the three original thick slats on the bottom. It has the three original hinges that are heavy duty, tight, work well and the lid closes well. There are 18 pieces of polished hardware. It has the original center lock and it has been polished- no key. The original mechanical latches are HD, fancy, tight, polished and one works well and one does not work ... moreat all.work. The trunk's lid stay is new. The interior has been removed. The metal/tin is in very good condition. There are 5 solid oak slats in a golden oak color. There is a lock but no key but you can open it up easily. Inside is the original interior complete with tray. There might be some pieces of the interior missing so please refer to photos to verify what is present. The top piece of wood across the top of the hump has broken and is nailed into place. For your bidding consideration today. We have an antique child size travel steamer trunk. Te trunk is made of wood,with a green paper or paper like covering on the outside. The black trim is metal, and there is a leather strap on the top. The left side of the trunk has four drawers, the right side has a sliding bar to hang clothes,with 3 hangers. The sides of the drawers are wood, and maybe the front too, the back and bottom of the drawers are heavy cardboard. All of it is covered in a wallpaper type of paper. The trunk is in nice condition with a few flaws. With the trunk standing up, there is what is probably water damage on the bottom, it affects only the bottom on the inside and outside. You can see this in there pictures. The worst of it is under where the last drawer goes, so not a big deal there. The bottom where it must have gotten ... morewet, the paper has loosened and darkened, but it is all there. You can see this in he the pictures also. There is scattered spots and crutches on he the outside, but overall, a nice trunk with age appropriate wear. It measures 21" tall, 121/2" wide, and 9" deep. Wonderful antique wooden storage trunk made by B. C. Sweetser& Sons of Portsmouth. N.H. in 1875. We were able to date the trunk as it originally was lined with old newspaper dated June 1875. The newspaper was removed as it was heavily water stained, torn, brittle and musty. We were able to save the original manufacturer label in the center of the interior of the lid. Interior is now clean and can be used to store items. The exterior is original(not refinished, only cleaned) with a warm dark wood patina; original lock(no key) and iron handles. Dome style lid. Original brass tacks on exterior. Solid original bottom. Great trunk for the collector! Measures 28 inches by 15 inches; 12 inches tall on the sides. Antique German Bisque Kestner 208 & Jointed Dollhouse Cat in Presentation Trunk
Presented here for your bidding enjoyment is this antique German all bisque Kestner 208 doll and her jointed bisque dollhouse cat. Together in a cute antique celluloid presentation trunk! Starting with the star of the auction, the doll stands 4" tall and is elastic string jointed at the shoulders and hips. This darling girl has blue glass sleep eyes and finely painted upper and lower lashes. When the doll's eyes are open, the wax eyelid covering is slightly more visible on the doll's left eye than on the right. She wears her original mohair wig with the factory bow on one side. She has a cute little chubby belly, and painted on tall textured stockings with Maryjane heeled shoes. She is just as cute as can be with her full, pouty cheeks and pert rosebud lips. She wears a homemade dress of tiny pin striped taffeta with a bonnet ... moreto match. Additionally, this young lady has a tiny apron with embroidered flowers, and the smallest bouquet of velvet flowers to hold. The doll is incised on the back of her head with 208 0 1/2. Her little wig will be removed and her head stuffed with a bit of tissue to keep the sleep eye mechanism from moving about during shipping. A dot of glue will do the trick to re-attach her wig. Her kitty cat friend is an antique all bisque pet made for the dollhouse. These little cats are slightly hard to find! She stands 2 1/8" tall and is wire jointed at each hip. It is a bit difficult to make kitty stand. So a bit of earthquake wax will hold her in place. The cat has simply painted details, including a blue bowtie, facial features, and orange inside of the ears. Luckily her tail is molded to her body or I'm sure it would have broken off by now! Both the doll and her kitty reside within an old celluloid collar( box that has been repurposed as a place of abode. The illustration on the front features a sweet little girl amongst the flowers. There is slight clouding in ... morethe top 1 1/2" of the opening that is probably from hard water. Since it is approximately 100 years old I can forgive a little because it looks great anyway. Antique Carved Small Chest or Large Box 10" Tall x 20" Long x 12" Wide This is very. Very old and has been repaired at least several times in over 200 years. The nails that are visible look to be 20th century. The handles look like proper 18th-19th century hand-forged hardware. The hand-forged hinges are old. But we are not sure if they are original. There is no lock and something was attached to the center of the inside of the lid. Which is gone. The surface has some patina. But is a more recent coat of varnish that has some scratches and scuffs, mostly on the top. The wood was hand-planed and the details were all hand-cut. There are no machine-made parts. Antique Civil War Soldier Jenny Lind Trunk Rare Stamped Eagle W/Key in its talons E.T. Fitch is marked on the side also has markings to a new haven Railroad on the sticker on side. Trunks is all original as found condition a great reenactment piece. The lock has an eagle stamped with a skeleton type key in its talons it may have been a military issued trunk. I've found and sold over 200 jenny lind trunks this is only the 2nd I've ever seen with an eagle stamped into the acorn shaped door over the keyhole. It's in good condition for its age both handles are still on it and can be used to carry the trunk. For a real piece of American history this may just be your trunk. The trunk is monogrammed with the initials"E.W.J. I was unable to locate a manufacturer name or logo. The trunk is in"usable" condition as it's not falling apart. But it has seen better days- PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PHOTOS! The trunk looks as though it originally had leather side handles. Unsure of the covering. Charming all-wood domed child's trunk circa 1880s. Has original top handle and fantastic front brass hinge. Hinge has a mark. Patent date of 1880s(I think) Great shape and design. Adorable size at 14" tall x 16" across front, 13" deep. It is utterly charming and substantial enough to hold things. Beautiful outside condition on wood which might be pine. Two splits on top. Front must have had leather straps at one time but are now gone but 3 of 4 metal clips remain. Inside is unrestored; no interior tray.

Up for sale is a very cool antique leather Finnigan Maker Manchester trunk. It is approximately from the late 1800s- to early 1900s. Finnigan was a well known luggage crafter out of Manchester England and later moved on to London. It came out of a barn in Northern VT. The trunk says JK Macara on top and has the initials JKM at each end. It is a large size- about 30" by 19" by 13" It is in pretty rough condition- the leather is dry and flaky. Smells musty, the front strap is broken, interior is ripped and stained and the lid is loose on one side. Even in the rough condition it has a great look and would be good for display. Antique Early 1900s Small Wood Steamer Trunk Red, Black w/ Gold Oak - NICE!
This is a beautiful wood steamer trunk from the early 1900s. This trunk is black metal with very pretty red and silver accents. It has unusual wheels on the bottom. I have not seen these on a steamer trunk. It measures 17-1/2" tall, 26" wide and it is 14" deep. It is in excellent clean condition. On inspection the handle straps are missing on the sides and the locking center latch is also missing. It shows normal scuffing and bumps as you would expect but no abuse. The trunk had mothballs stored in it and there is a lingering scent. I have never dealt with moth balls and I did not try to deodorize it but I think it will dissipate over time. Folk Art - Antique - Suitcase / Trunk - Ship, Hotel & Railway Tags - Patina -
ONE OF A KIND ANTIQUE WELL TRAVELED SUITCASE/TRUNK This is a one of a kind. Well traveled, suitcase/trunk. The suitcase was owned by a nurse in the early 1900's, her name was miss Norma Wilker. The leather tag on the trunk bares her name. One cruise ship tag says Norma was traveling on the Empress of France, a famous cruise ship, to Liverpool England. Other tags tell a story of a Nurse traveling the globe. Norma was a native of Los Angeles and was said to have dabbled in silent screen acting before becoming a nurse in her mid 30's. One of her accolades include a part as a background actress in 1909's A Midsummers Night Dream directed by Charles Kent and starring Charlie Chaplin. Norma went on to marry a physician and the case was handed down to her children who sold it to an Antique Dealer about 15 years back. He then sold it ... moreto me and here it is for the next owner to enjoy. A respected antique dealer I know said the trunk is more of a Folk Art piece then a trunk and I agree. Unlike other suitcase/trunks of the era this one can be displayed or used as a stand. This particular one paints a picture of the life of miss Norma Wilker and this piece has seen many places. I am guessing lots of life saving tools and medicines were stored in this suitcase. Or possibly just Norma's clothing and personal items. Either way this piece will strike a conversation as soon as someone comes into contact with it. You are never going to find a trunk this unique with this much of a flair for Art, it is a truly unique piece of art. Make me a good offer and it is yours. It has lost both of it's side handles but still has all of its other original hardware. Including casters, to let it roll intact. It's previous owner did have it re-lined 20 years ago so the liner is not the original. This is a substantial piece and would make a beautiful addition to any room. Up for bid is a really interesting looking antique. Vintage, old Flat key. I don't know what it would be used to unlock. Maybe it could be used for a padlock, door, cabinet or trunk. I'm no expert. I took a few pictures to make it easier for you to determine if it's the right size key for you. Please look at the pictures of the key to see the obvious wear. Rust, and all the measurements.
