For sale today is a smaller size nicely restored stagecoach trunk and the restoration turned out just awesome! I did not find any patent dates on the trunk and based on 40 years experience restoring trunks I would date this trunk from the 1870's to 1890's. I have restored 100's of trunks over the years and this is the first one of this shape/style I have seen. A rare trunk. This trunk was structuallly sound when the restoration started and it has a good bottom. The wood was clear coated and has three original slats on the bottom. It still has the two original hinges that are heavy duty, fancy, tight and work well, There are twenty seven pieces of polished hardware. The two original mechanical latches remain and they are heavy duty, fancy,tight, are polished and they work well. This is a beautiful antique Chinese camphor wood trunk from the 1940s made of excellent quality and construction. It is of good size and measures 21x40 inches on the bottom and 23 inches in height. As you can see every side has a paneled appearance which is quite unique. To do this panel work took a lot of additional time and effort. Much more so than a typical trunk with no carved decoration. The interior has great top quality brass work which includes the hinges and the lid bar, pictured. IT also comes with one pull out tray for convenience. There is a brass Asian lock on front, it even comes with a Chinese style lock which ... moreis quite unique compared to American locks. The interior is all camphor wood which keeps moths away from destroying wool clothes. The exterior almost seems like mahogany but i believe it is stained camphor wood or similar chinese wood made to look like mahogany. I have seen a number of camphor trunks in my time but this is really one of the finest quality trunks i have seen from the Asian market. It is in super original condition with a clean finish. We would prefer that the winning bidder pick this up in person but we know that is not always possible. This is a hand carved J.L George wood trunk. The inner inscription reads J.L. George 895 Avenue Rd. Tel 34732 Chinese beaux arts carving furniture in wood. Carving furniture in jade stone. Carving furniture in brass. Carving chest. Made in China. I believe it is from the late 1800's or early 1900's. A friend of my father's brought this back from a trip he took to Shanghai in 1929. The exterior has some exquisite hand carving as shown in the photos. It is in great condition. The top does have some fading. As if it sat in the sunlight for a period of time, and some minor scratches. Please see photos. It measures 20 inches wide, 21 inches tall, and 40 inches in length. The interior has some loose material with minor losses, and marks from use. The canvas, with Victorian Panel decoration, is tight and shows small marks, scrapes, and stains. DONNELLY ANTIQUES this hard to find dresser trunk does not have a makers name but it is still in nice condition. there are 3 drawers. 2 large and 1 small. and a compartment above them that long long has its cover that would have been held down by the to snaps on the leather straps. it has normal wear for a item of this vintage, solid shiny black bottom no rust with for caster wheels.the drawers are complete solid bottoms, lining is intact. all of the extertior locks work as designed snapping the trunk tight. the lock is broken but should be easy to replace. the trunk is 34" wide, 22" deep, 27" tall when closed.

Vintage Steamer Trunk - estimated 1900 To 1950 - unrestored antique
You will find this to be a beautiful piece. The condition is a bit rough but as expected for an item that has been used extensively. Imagine this being loaded onto a train car in the early 1900's or a Cruise Ship in the 1950s. I consider it to be in working condition though since the hinges and latches still work. However the key is missing. Some of the leather straps are missing as well but can be replaced for a reasonable price. This would be perfect for use in your entryway. Old Antique Nathan Neat Primitive Folk Art Trunk c1830s
Up for sale is a rare antique leather box made by Nathan Neat Co. out of Boston. MA. The exterior of the box is covered with dark brown leather secured by brass tacks. The box comes with what is probably the original skeleton key, and the latch and keyhole are in good working order. The interior is lined with its original printed wallpaper, and the inside of the lid bears the original label. The box was manufactured somewhere around the 1830's to the 1840's. The box looks to be made of pine wood, and measures 13.75" in width, 6.25" in height, and 8.75" in depth(the height including the handle is 7.25" The leather has many areas of wear all over the exterior, and the edges and corners are worn. There are also stains on the interior. All of this can be seen in the pictures. Overall though, it is a very nice antique ... morebox from a well-known maker of boxes and trunks on the east coast. This is probably one of the most unusual clocks I have seen. It was advertising of some kind. I think insurance maybe. I can't make out the first work or two. Of Valued Business Favors" is on top line with a word or 2 preceding it. Under that is"Prompt Settlements" The 2" brass clock was set in the middle of a 6" slab o tree trunk. Then there is a 1 3/4" round peg that must have fit in another piece to make it stand. There is no maker name. This is really unusual and I'd like to know more about it. Also had embossed tin, and still had the beautiful green enamel paint intact that the embossed tin was originally painted with! Also the trunk still has both handles intact. Neither look like they have been replaced, and it still has its original tray Even more exceptional. The trunk has a working LOCK& KEY: even the bottom of the trunk is in totally blean unrusted almost perfect condition. Even has a labeled where it was shipped at least one time from Danville KY in the 1920's I would estimate however that the age of the trunk is more around the late 1800's The trunk has been thoroughly cleaned& conserved. 50 Antique Cast Brass Trunk Tacks, Original 170 years old
The picture gives you an idea of what the tacks look like. You will receive 50 tacks plus a couple of extras. These are 170 year old tacks I removed from an original 1840's relic trunk that is unrestorable. These low-dome. Cast brass tacks are 3/8" diameter and have the typical square shank. Antique tacks are perfect for restoring an original trunk or adding that authentic touch to your Native American or Mountain Man recreations. They are untouched and some will have a little verdigris(green stuff) that will clean up with a toothbrush. I've added a couple of extras in case some break. I would suggest that you pre-drill your holes before mounting these little bits of history. Please ask questions as there are no refunds. IT TURNED OUT TERRIFIC. IT LOOKS FANTASTIC. Now every thing is original and it is branded. There was cloth on the inside it had to be removed. I left the picture of the lady alone. 1870's Dome Top Trunk Size: 28" wide. 18" tall, 15" deep front to back. A beautiful wooden dome top or barrel top trunk. Probably from the 1870's. Great looking trunk with beautiful dark pine and hardwood slats. Original hardware, including cast iron latches, bottom wheels, and with heavy duty corner bands. Entirely original condition with no modern upgrades to preserve character. A great collector's and decorator's item and will certainly be a conversation piece. It's very strong and a great size for lots of storage space. With a deep interior. This trunk was made in the late 1880's as determined by the style. The lid has a nice high rounded shape that used to accommodate ladies' hats. The early lithograph of a lady in a period hat in the lid is original. Some paper lining remains intact throughout. ... moreIncluding an intricate blue and white border that lines the inside of the lid. Original leather handles missing(many that you see today are reproductions) Decorative latches work well; key not included with lock. Provenance: purchased from a Philadelphia area antiques shop in the 1960's. Sold as authentic Victorian piece from the late 1800's. Many pieces from this era are known under different names: Saratoga trunks(for the vacation trunks ladies brought to resort town Saratoga. NY) Barrel Top or Barrel Stave trunks(because of the ribs that mimic a barrel) or Dome Top, Camelback, or Humpback for the curved lid. The two closest examples I've found both sold for $795. Although they had been refinished. To preserve the original finish and details, and in case a collector would like to refinish it himself, I haven't had anything done to it.

TRUNK/ ANTIQUE/100 YEARS OLD/ WOOD & METAL
Very old trunk. I got it from an elderly friend of mine-in her 90's. The trunk belonged to her aunt-so it has to be at least a hundred years old if not more. It is 19 inches wide. 13 1/4 inches deep, 32 inches long. Lid is 3 1/2 inches deep and inside is 9 inches from the edge to bottom. The trunk is wood with metal bottom with 3 2 inch brace boards for support. There are metal bands for support on all edges and corners.The bottom and lid have a crack length wise. Leather handles on side rotted off. Back and front leather straps are rotted off. Has original hardware and hinges- front and back. Missing hinge on left side inside lid. Inside has original lining but is worn because of age. Will send more pictures upon request. Will consider shipping if buyer wants to pay for it. The trunk is 35 pounds.
