The trunk has a hinged lid, and the original lining is still inside the bottom portion of the trunk. The trunk is made of wood, with a nice brown covering that is mainly intact, although it is torn in quite a few places, and metal reinforced seams. There is no key with it, and the original locking mechanism is now missing. The trunk also has two latches, one on each side of the main lock, that are a unique design and work well, although they are covered with a fair amount of surface rust. The trunk also has other label remnants on it from travel, as well as a partial guarantee label inside the lid.

The drawers lock into place and are lined, wood on the outside. The top drawer has a key lock(not included) When you pull out the drawer, there is a leaver that you turn which unlocks the other drawers. The wardrobe side includes the hangers shown(5) and the top opens to ease in getting the hangers out. the metal slats for the hangers to slide out as well, however the right one is hard to push. Has a fabric cloth to cover the clothes from the drawers. This is a large heavy truck, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips it has taken over the years. The top(picture 6) shows the rip in the fabric. Has two tags on it. First is the Hartman Trunk co, Racine, WI. The other is on the corner and says Wasseman's, Grand Rapids, MI. That means this trunk went from the United States to Germany, then to Scotland and back to the United States. Measures 40" tall, 22" wide and 21 1/2" deep. Shipping is quoted with UPS. This little piece of a card gives you a bit of history into the trunk. It came over on the Cunard Steam Ship Company on 13th Febrary 1921 in Third Class. It left Athens Greece on this date and was stamped by the American Consulate General. The Immigrants name was Victoria Ghazarian. The Port of Departure was Caronia. Piraeus. I wonder what stories this trunk could tell? The leather handles have worn away so would need replacing but the bones of this trunk are all good. The lock on the front would need replacing as it has been taken off. There is an inside shelf and a tray that fits in the lid. I cannot find a name on it. This trunk is slightly domed. It is in excellent condition for such an old piece. The leather handles and hardware are in good and working condition however I do not have the key. There are wheels on each of the four corners and the bottom is metal. It can be left alone or refinished to be a beautiful addition to any space in your home. Up for consideration is a very nice restored victorian trunk. It has been cleaned well inside and out. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish for protection. New leather handles were put on. The inside has been tastefully recovered. It has dated latches that read" July 1. 73. Inside the trunk the lid stay is also dated 1870. Nice Antique Canvas Trunk - it is Beautiful!
This is an incredible find! It is an antique travel trunk and it seems to be made of canvas over cardboard? and it has an ancient leather(broken) handle on the top(and there is also a strip on the bottom) and some leather pieces on the corners as well(one is missing. The inside is paper lined on each end and the cover is too- and then the canvas is on the rectangular bottom and on the cover as well. It measures 22" x 11.5" and it is 8" tall. It has the most wonderful look to it and I was told that it is from the late 1800's but I don't know that for sure. It is in amazing condition for its age except it has discolored with age. It has some soil spots, marks, gouges, dings, lots of wear, rust spots, tears, water marks, etc. but even with all of these things that I have mentioned it is still a very beautiful piece and ... moreI can't say enough about how beautifully it displays. It has a wonderful red, white& blue American Express Co. decal on one end and it looks like someone wrote Belfast on it and then there is a label with a hand written name on it with very beautiful writing but it is hard to tell what the name is. Gorgeous Antique Doll Trunk
This auction is for a gorgeous antique doll trunk and it is a real beauty. It measures 20.5" x 11.5" wide and it is 12.5" tall. Even though this early doll trunk is worn around the edges and the leather has worn through(and split in places) all around. It is an incredible piece and it displays so beautifully. The leather handles on the sides are missing and it looks like there used to be two more on the top in which to swing it up by but they are not there now. It has a wonderful covered divided tray on the inside and there were lots of old pins(and old tissue paper) in it when I got this trunk. I have used it to store antique dolls for many years and it is a fabulous display piece in and of itself. The metal hardware around the edges is really fantastic- I have had many early trunks and I have never seen this rugged rounded ... morehardware on any of the others that I have had and it is incredible how well it has protected this beautiful early trunk. This incredible piece has marks, dings, rust, scratches, gouges, leather wear and leather splits, spots, etc. but that only adds to its character. For sale today is a very nicely restored antique trunk. I did not find any patent dates on this trunk and based on 40 plus years experience restoring trunks I would date this trunk to the 1890's to the early 1900's which makes this awesome old trunk a 100 plus years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the metal bottom is in good solid condition. Has had multiple coats of paint applied, three bottom slats, has four original metal wheels and the trunk rolls easily. Still has the 2 original hinges which are heavy duty,fancy, tight, work well and the lid closes easily. There are 27 plus pieces of original polished hardware and has the original Yale and Towne center lock which has been polished- no key. The two original mechanical latches are HD, fancy, tight and and one works and one ... moredoes not. There are 12 original solid oak slats in a golden oak color on the trunk. The interior has been removed and it has the original tray. The metal/tin is in good condition. The lid stay is original. The lid lifters are built into the latches. Two new leather handles were installed with the original hardware. This awesome old flat top is 29W. 16 3/4D and 19H and weighs 32 lbs.The s/h/i cost in the auction is always wrong. Nice Antique Paper Litho Doll Trunk - ABC Alphabet & Children
This auction is for a beautiful antique ABC Paper Litho Doll Trunk with the Alphabet and Children playing and it is older than the hills. It measures 14" long x 8 1/4" wide and it is 9" tall. It still has its two leather handles( one on each end) and it is in well worn condition but even so it has the most wonderful look to it. It has paper loss and paper wear- it is tarnished around the hardware and the metal trim. It has gouges, rips, dents, tears, scratches, dings, soil spots, lifting paper, cracks, splits, etc. in other words age appropriate wear and tear- and it still displays really well. Antique Metal Steamer Trunk Tray Handle Hardware Great Condition Wichita Trunk C
This is a really cool metal and leather steamer made by the Wichita Trunk Company. The metal has some rust. But no holes. The leather has some wear, but no rips. One handle is present, one is not. All hardware is intact. The lovely flocked interior is in good shape, but could use a little vacuuming in the bottom. The tray is there, but the leather hinges on one side of the cover has broken as can be seen in the photo. Hartmann Tourobe Wardrobe Steamer Trunk Antique HTF!! VERY RARE!
This antique Hartmann Tourobe is still in great condition. However. Like all original Tourobe's from the turn of the century, there are some scuff marks, scratches and such on the exterior. Look closely at the destination it traveled. It was sent from a teacher in Germany to an officer in Brooklyn New York. What a distance! Inside still looks great and has the original hangers. 6 total hangers, four for suits and two for pants, internal straps are complete. The case has two sections divided by the hinges: 4 divided sections for folded clothing and miscellaneous items secured with adjustable fastening fabric straps. a hanging wardrobe on one side which has a cotton twill covered pad to protect the suits. which fastens with two sets of stud buttons holding the clothes in place. 2 of the 3 buttons are functional. I did not want to replace the fastener as it would change the piece from it's original state. Based on 40 years experience restoring trunks I would date this trunk as from the 1860's to 1880's which makes this awesome old humpback over a 100 years- a true antique. This trunk was in good solid condition when the restoration started and the wood bottom is solid and the wood has been given multiple coats of clear. Four bottom slats and four original metal wheels and the trunk rolls easily. The trunk has the two original hinges which are fancy, tight, HD and the lid closes well. Original U. S. Trunk Company Vintage Antique Flat Trunk 35" X 20" X 13"
Vintage Trunk U. S. Trunk Company 35" X 20" X 13" This is a trunk that has been around a while. It has issues. The inside looks better than the outside. I did not find a key. The first wooden hanger that shows in the picture has a broken end. The end still reaches past the bar. But the bottom of the right hand side is broken off. On one of the other hangers the laminations are coming apart. There are two compartments opposite the hangers portion. The top compartment is on hinges. And the bottom compartment can be taken completely out of the trunk. Those two compartment are in reasonably good shape. There is a compartment than can be covered with a piece of cloth at the bottom on the hanger side. That compartment is in poor shape. You can see the splits in the finish on the outside of the trunk. It needs to be refinished. All ... morethe hasps seem to work. I didn't try to do anything with the lock since there is no key. If you live close enough to Tower. Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk with Working Lock. 2 Keys and Tray My husband and I have refinished over 100 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice refinished flat top steamer t runk. The particular d iminsions for this are 30 1/4" length. 18 1/2" width and 20 1/2" heig ht. We refinished this particular trunk by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. Inside and out. A fter t his. We applied 2 layers of tung oil to the trunk and tr ay. After lots of research on rest oration. We have found that it is better to finish old wood ... morewith tung oil as it helps preserve the wood from drying and cracking from the inside out. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made brow n leather hand l es. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Th is trunk also ha s the two original latches newly painted and working properly.Attached to the lid of this trunk is the original stay so it will remain opened when wanted. Included with this trunk is the original tray. Newly sanded and finished. Working the way down to the b ottom there are 4 original metal casters that are securely in p lace and working properly. Wonderful antique oak trunk or chest. Six-sided construction with molding around the bottom. Overhanging top has a raised panel inside a frame made using mortise and tenon joints. A small smooth notch has been carved into the front to allow the user to lower the lid without crushing their fingers. Sturdy wrap-around hinges hold the lid in place and interior corner-braces help keep the trunk solid. A more recent looking chain is also attached between the trunk body and lid. This piece has a ton of character and has definitely been put to use during its time. Probably dates from the mid to late 1800's Although it has some obvious wear. Up for sale is this Antique Came l Ba ck/Dome Steamer Trunk. It measures approximately 24" tall. 24 1/2" long. And 18 1/2" deep. The trunk has very ornate tin floral sheeting across the top and the outside panels of the trunk. Th e top tin sheeting is in an alternating Red and Green color. This trunk is in good condition. With some wear co nsistant with age. Trunk does not lock. A n d key is not included. The leather s trap handles have deteriorated with age. But are still attached and not broken but torn and frayed. The re was a leather strap a cross the top. Which has been torn from the trunk some time ago. As the torn edges are dark with age. The inside of the trunk is papered with a nice pattern. This auction is for an antique unrestored trunk from the 1870's to 1910. It has wooden slats with solid metal edges with a detailed stamped metal pattern all over. The lock has the name Eagle Lock on it. At one time it had leather handles but they are torn. This old trunk would make a really nice antique piece for show in any home as is or with a little cleaning up. Feel free to ask any questions. RARE SMALLER ANTIQUE STEAMER TRUNK VALISE VICTORIAN JENNY LIND STAGECOACH CHEST
You would have to look hard to find a better restored origianl Genny Lind stagecoach trunk. This mid 1800s trunk has had a great restoration including new leather straps and buckles on the outside. Lovely quilted interior. And beatiful restoration of the tooled leather covering. And it does not smell! On the interior it still sports the wood restraining flap that would allow you to fill that side of the trunk and then close it without everything falling out. See the last 2 photos Petite size approximately 20" long. 13.5" wide and 9" deep. A kind and knowledgeable ebayer just added this info. the actual name for one of these is a valise. They used to put that on many of the old labels. Such as trunk, valise, and carpet bag manufacturer. condition. Overall a great looking trunbk but it is about 150+ years old. the hinges have ... morebeen replaced and work perfectly. The lock in not functional but it closes fine. Some of the leather is loose, mostly noted on one side. Vintage Antique HIDE COVERED TRUNK Early. The very early hide covered trunk measures 27 1/2" long x 14" wide x 12" high. The trunk has a broken strap on one side and the back of the truck has a hide missing(see photo) and the trunk is sold AS IS. The weight of the trunk is about 20 pounds and is all original with some of the tacks discolored and the lid is slightly ajar.
