English George III Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Antique Side Table c. 1760-90
English Chippendale Mahogany Tilt Top Side Table over Snake Feet Late 18th Century Item# 110005GFF25 This is an English Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Tea Table. Of the period c. 1760-90. Of remarkable weight, it features a single solid board top, hand planed carefully to create a perfect smooth surface. A thick varnish finish covers the entire piece, glowing on the top, with craquelure throughout the varnish along the pedestal and legs. The original hand carved cleats affix the top to the pedestal with a mix of a few remaining original hand crafted screws among later added screws. A brass catch on the underside of the table top still functions fully to secure the table in a resting postion, this appearing to be a period addition improving over the old catch system- originally a dowel likely joined through the left cleat into a hole in the ... morepedestal head to lock the table top in place. The pedestal tenons through the square base. Solidly locking these two critical components permanently[not the numerous repairs to the square head of the pedestal; this appears to be the original plank with later repairs to help secure it] The pedestal is carefully turned shaft ending in a carved spiral urn, then locking into the legs with tight dovetail joints. Cabriole legs curve down and terminate in simple oval slipper feet. A piece that has seen some life. This is a fine well crafted period tea table. From a conservation standpoint, it would be beneficial to have the current finish removed chemically and a shellac reapplied. It is a fine piece for anyone with a home of colonial or Chippendale design, a sturdy work that is fully capable of regular use in the home. Measurements: Top measures 30 3/4" wide x 30 1/8" wide(across grains) 44 7/8" high in tilted position. 27 1/2" high in down position; 26 1/2" distance between each toe Condition Report: Refinished. VTG/Antique PRINTING PRESS 4x6 Table Top SIGWALT Victorian Decals 19th C +EXTRAS
Up for bid is the vintage/antique PRINTING PRESS with TONS OF EXTRAS/ BONUS PRINTING ITEMS/SUPPLIES. As seen in the pictures/ as described in the title. This is my first press find. I know little about it. Other than the missing roller(s) it looks to be complete and fully functional. No blarringly obvious defects whatsoever. From my research. I believe this to be an early Sigwalt Model from circa the late 19th century that is in exceptionally good condition in comparison to others its age. Features many original, multi-colored Victorian style lithograph decals at both sides and small accents throughout(at other sides and crevases, see pics) Some are faded and partial, most near complete and quite bright& vivid. Amazingly, the vast majority of the original black paint/ japanning remains. Another very cool feature is the last, very old ... morepiece of paper found in the frame. It is a"FASHION SHOW" advertisement/announcement that was to take place at Wallace School on Willow Ave on May 28, 1982. Also included are all of the extras found with the press. I do not"speak presses" so I will let the pictures be the extras' official description(see 1st& last pictures) I did not open any of the cans/tubes of ink/gloss though it is clear that they are nearly full. Actual contents/usability unknown. At the very least, they are neat display items and surely have collectability/value in their advertising qualities alone. The(10) quoins are of(3) different types/sizes/makers(see last pic) and have superb patina. The lead spacers are brand new. When found, they were in a box, half out of the package(seen in 1st& last pics) I just removed the rest to show how many are included(a few hundred, I would guess) I picked from a Northern N.J. farm estate that was first developed in the late 18th century. Original owner had passed and the lady who sold me this press did not even know what it was. So sadly. I was unable to learn any fun or interesting history of this piece. ANTIQUE REDWORK TABLE TOPPER/PILLOW SHAM - GOOD MORNING
This piece of antique redwork measures 24 X 37 inches. It was probably intended to be a single layer pillow sham but could be used for many other things. How cute would it be on the breakfast table at a B&B? The embroidery. Including the borders of all four sides have been done nicely by hand. The last photo shows the reverse side of the border next to the right side for comparison purposes. The condition is vintage with no holes or stains that I see. The sun is depicted rising over a pond. There are lilypads. Cat o'nine tails and maybe a frog- I'm not sure about the frog. It makes me smile to look at it. This antique Graybar brass blade fan is in very good shape. But someone has painted the cage on it. I don't know why someone would do that, but they did. It has the original cord, which has almost no wear to it, and works perfectly. It's 18 1/2" tall, and 17 1/2" across, with 7" long blades. Possibly from the 1920's( Table stands 13-1/2" tall x 11-1/2" wide across the top. Made of dark stained. 3/4" thick wood, not sure what type. Maybe maple. F our supporting legs are nicely rounded and tapered at the top. Wonderful primitive and rustic look with wear to many of the edges and residual white paint along one leg with some small splatters elsewhere. I'm not sure what the white surface is made of. Whether it is leather or fake leather. The table has a cigarette burn in the white surface along with some rubs. Tears around one corner. I took close up pics. of the damage. One chair, is missing 1 screw, from the front edge of the seat. The table is still very sturdy and doesn't seem to have seen much use. I have a very old 1800's to early 1900's Antique Cast Iron Table/ Plant Stand with Claw Feet. This stand is approximately 26 inches tall and 11 inches round. Put a piece of round plate glass to make a table or a plant stand. There is a crack in the top ring. But this stand is made so heavy that the crack is almost unnoticeable. Large profusely inlaid Syrian games table, the top with multiple geometric and asymmetric inlays of various woods and mother of pearl. The deep top opens to reveal similarly inlaid interior and a section with a hinged centre which lifts to reveal a chess and a backgammon table and like the outside is profusely inlaid. Table is multi functional. Can be use as a beautiful console table, backgammon, chess/checkers, and has a felt lined side for card games. Game pieces are not included. This stunning old table features intricate carved designs with strong French or Italian influences. The table has graceful lines and curves. The table has been painted white(somewhat distressed"whitewashed" finish) with gold gilt accenting on the table rim and on the carved features. The carvings are numerous with acanthus leaves and shell pattern on the front apron of the table with an open/pierced carved design. The back legs have large acanthus leaf accents. The feet have a carved"talon and ball" or claw and ball design. The two front legs feature exquisitely carved birds, one on each upper leg. The birds have wonderful detail with cross hatched feathers and intricate eyes and beaks. STUNNING! The bottom ... morestretcher features a center acanthus leaf shell with an incised cross. The table is in very good condition with some signs of use. It is quite sturdy(but not terribly heavy) and does not wobble. There is some chipped paint on the top as well as some condensation marks from glasses being placed on the top with no coasters. These are not terribly distracting and are somewhat faint in nature. The table top could be painted quite easily to match the existing white color if you do not care for the"character marks" This is a beautiful table with exceptional detailing. There are no manufacturer's marks. The table is generously sized and measures 40" wide at the widest point and is 17.5" deep(front to back) at the deepest. Shipping via Greyhound. Antique Carved Wood Foo Dogs MOP Eyes Table Or Bench Base Ball Feet
This auction is for a rare pair of Foo dogs. They are all hand carved with MOP eyes. They are just in from an estate so the exact location of the pieces is unknown. But they thought from China. Most likely late 1800's. The mirror image dogs have little ball feet and there are slots for the seat or stand to fit into. I do not have the stand. They are 11 inches long by 5 inches high to the top of the dogs head. The wood is very dark, almost black and very heavy. This is an antique(oak I believe) table top from an early 1900's Singer treadle. There are some minor wear(scuffs. Scratches, discoloration) because it is almost 100 years old but overall a nice solid piece and one of the better table tops I have ever seen in regards to condition. The wood is very sound and strong and free of major cracks or structural damage and comes with the hinges. It measures approximately 36.5" from side to side and 18" from front to back. Large 32" Antique Mahogany Hammered Brass Folding Coffee Tea Tray Table Detailed Offered here is a simply beautiful tray top table. It features a high quality hand etched hammered brass tray top. The top is incredible and features a rider mounted on a horse fighting what looks to be a dragon. It features many smaller pannels with animals carved in them. It is a very nice piece featuring some incredible hand work on the tray top. The top sits on a hand carved base that is made from one piece of wood. The base is pierced carved and interconnected. It is made from what looks to be mahogany. The table stands 19 inches high from the ground and it has a 1 inch rim on the top that brings the height to 20 inches. I would guess that this piece was made in India or Turkey. It features some of the best art work I have seen with a great deal of ... moredetail. Also. The table is quite large. It is 32 3/4 inches in diameter making it just short of 3 feet across. This is just a super piece. I've tried to take a number of pictures so that you can judge for yourself it's quality and value. This is about the most beautiful old piece of linen I have ever seen. This antique. TEA SIZE table cloth was hand made by the Grandmother of a friend of mine. It would have been made in about 1912 when the Grandmother, as a very young lady, made it.as part of her dowry. I can't imagine all the hours put into making it.and making it by lantern light no less. Overall size is approximately 44" square. The cloth portion is approximately 32" and the delicate crochet work makes up the rest. No idea what the name of the pattern may be; but it has a center circle with petal-like extensions going out from that center circle. And finally, there is a ring of circles around the entire outer part of the pattern. Please examine the pictures closely. I could not detect any holes, thread runs, etc. If you look at pictures#4 and#5 closely you ... morewill see the only imperfections that I found.
