Again which is not normal. most desks are 41" to 43" wide, this one is quite narrow. Dovetailed case. TOP, AND BOTTOM! it is rare to find these chests/desks dovetailed, let alone the base and top dovetailed. Solid Cherry Case. Again, its a very early sheraton piece, most sheraton desks have paneled sides, this is solid sides indicating it was made slightly after 1800 to about 1810 to 1815. Dovetailed drawer construction. Cherry slant lid. With Flame Burl Mahogany veneer front. Pine Drawer Fronts. With Mahogany Cockbeading, and Mahogany Flame Burl Veneers and Poplar sides, and bottoms. Cherry. Mahogany veneers, Pine drawer fronts with mahogany veneers, and Poplar Secondary woods. The interior has a prospect door that opens to reveal 4 drawers. Tiger maple turned column drawers next to the prospect door. drawers slide great on the ORIGINAL drawer slides. Which is one of the first items to wear out on the early desks, usually resulting in replacements. Unusually tall writing surface. Which would indicate the desk was originally owned by a shop keeper or a businessman of sorts. you will need a tall stool to set at the desk. a nice early windsor type stool would look nice with the desk! Original Finish. Brass drawer pulls, and all of the interior knobs, and lid support knobs. Condition: aside from being the cleanest desk we have ever owned. The overall physical condition is NEAR MINT 98% PRESERVED CONDITION! the only flaws are minor veneer chips on the base from a stool/chair, and 2 spots of veneer loss on the lid, and veneer split due to wood shrinkage on the lid. Very good overall condition, This gorgeous antique burl walnut secretaire was crafted in France around the year 1900. Today. This piece remains very beautiful, with a rich walnut complexion and a highly pronounced grain. The face is flanked by a set of carved columns that run the entire height of this piece, which ends with elegant bun feet. A total of 11 drawers and 1 interior cabinet provide a large amount of storage space, all under lock and key. The locks, however, are quite worn and operate with difficulty. The moulding has also sustained some wear, including a minor wood separation in the front and a filled-in missing piece in the back. Overall condition therefore remains very good. The desk provides a very beautiful workspace. With a variety of drawers. This secretaire contains plenty of storage space. The sides look great. The finish on the very top has worn a bit. Condition: Used Location: Morgantown, United States Rare Retro Danish Teak Wood Writing Desk With a Lift up Vanity Mirror Section From a local estate sale is this wonderful Teak Wood Desk. It can be used ... moreas a writing desk or a make-up vanity. It has three small pull out drawers on the inside with the middle drawer having a lift up mirror and there are three larger drawers below the desk area. The inside of the desk also has a couple of cubby shelves. If you look below the second shelf you can see someone has cut a small hole to pass cords through. I could not find any markers markings but I am guessing from other items in the house of this estate sale it is Danish and probably from the 60's or 70’s. It is of smaller proportions making it ideal for a smaller room. The approx. measurements are: 3’ 6½” tall/ 2’ 11” across the front and is 1’ 5¼” wide. There are a couple of very small little marks or bumps but nothing major and overall it is in Very Good used condition. This Would Be A Very Stylish Addition To Any Home!
