This beautiful table features an ogee bevel edge, round corner top, and is all tiger sawn oak with a large dove tail drawer in the front. It has cabriole legs that come down into a bottom shelf support and terminate in a detail toenail claw foot. The desk is 38 inches wide, 26 inches deep and 29.75 inches high. Beautiful Solid Wood Antique Quarter Sawn Oak Rolling Desk Chair with Arms This is a Solid Quarter Sawn Oak Rolling Desk Chair. It has a metal pedestal base that can adjust up and down with a metal adjustment wheel. And four spindle legs with wheels. The metal components have been painted black. The wheels have been replaced at some point in its life(see photos) It has solid oak arms, a wide solid wood seat, and a tall spindled back, with a solid quarter sawn oak top. The chair has had one repair to one of the legs. As visible in photos, which has held for all of the 10 years that I have owned it, and it has had a tremendous amount of use in that time. Antique Georgian Federal(?) Secretary Slant Front Desk Four Drawer Bureau 1840
Family lore has it that this was made in 1840 but I don't know for sure. This was my father's father and. Given to me but I'm headed to. South America and none of our children want it. All the drawers and top are joined. With dovetails at the corners. All the drawer bottoms have chamfered. Ends that fit into a tight track in the drawer. Sides. I'm guessing that drawer facewood. Is cherry(mahogany? and hinder parts of drawers made from boxwood. All the drawers fit precisely. The large drawers have grooves worn in them. From riding over guidance rails in the front of. The drawer entry points(see pics) It looks like. This was by design to accommodate the heavy. Drawers(which are prob mahogany. Not cherry) Veneer is poor in several areas. Esp the slope top front. The back view pic shows two arrows pointing out the width of a single ... moreboard which is a whopping 21 1/2 inches wide. Included in this pic at the bottom are shown. The three pieces of molding that need to be glued back onto the'ankles' The brass balls in the feet at each corner rotate. Nicely but the 2 x 2 inch wood stock that the casters are attached to have a nasty habit of coming loose. And need to be re-attached. This happened today. In fact, as I was rolling the 200 lb desk back inside after the photo shoot. I'll put it back in place with some wood screws. Before sending it out. No idea what it'll cost to freight so I'll guess. $150.00. This is just a ballpark and I'll work. With the winning bidder to get the best freight. Rate. If it's too much. This was used as the postal counter. There is a one large and sturdy drawer with the original pulls. It once held two drawers. The smaller one has been removed to allow for chair space. this is a stunning antique solid bronze and enamel ornate victorian inkwell/ pen holder/ wash set. the base has a great patina from age and made from thick heavy bronze. With a wonderfully embossed floral design around the rim. it has two detailed 3 dimensional arms which hold a pen at the ends and has a recessed bowl shape in the middle to put water for a pen wash. in the center there is an ornate box shape for the clear glass inkwell to sit. it sits right on top of the square base. Georgian English Antique 1840 Secretary Desk& Bookcase. A late Georgian secretary desk with a bookcase was hand crafted about 1840 in England. The old finish is very well preserved with lots of antique character- mars. Wear and shrinkage separations from age- see photos. Mahogany wood has delicate inlaid banding and warm patina. The top two drawers are false. They drop to form a desk top. This style of desk was often called a"butler's desk" in a large household, the butler was the head of staff and kept records in a desk like this. Inside is a natural saddle leather writing surface and contrasting golden drawers. All drawers have tiny hand cut dovetail joints. Believe this is RIFT not QUARTER SAWN OAK. It is an"S" style desk, most likely mfg. between 1890 and 1900, notice the hand done dovetailing on the and the carved drawer handles. The locks on the tambour and center drawer are from Corbin Cabinet and Lock Company. It was disassembled in the late 60's and completely refinished. This desk has 2 Pull Out writing surfaces. And is 60"L 32"W 49"H and consists of 6 pieces; 2 Pedestals, Tambour section, desk top insert, and the lower back connecting section between the 2 Pedestals(many of the desks shown here don't have this) Desk is panel sided. There is no lock inside the key hole/lock compartment. It has recessed panels on both sides and back. The Roll Top slides up and down. Not a smooth slide. You have to hold both handles to open and close. It tends to stick when sliding. The flat surface of the desk appears to have been refinished at one time and it has a brownish stain on the desk. The top portion of the desk sets on the base. It does not bolt into the base. There are signs of wear in the form of scratches. Chips to the wood and repairs that I tried to show in the many photos. Hello.I have a antique Amish Pennsylvania Dutch children's school desk up for your consideration today and being modeled by my beautiful niece Haley.It was manufactured in Lancaster.PA. and purchased by a friend while shopping in Lancaster for antiques around 25 years ago.It is a very well built desk made from local hard woods incorporating I believe mortise and tenon pegged joinery for the legs, and tung and grove on the table top and seat helping to insure and continue its longevity.Those craftsmen gave you a lot back in the day.I have this chair listed as being built around the 1930 to 1940 but it may very well be much older! The desk and chair have the usual ware that all school desks have, like some writing and scratches and even a few nicks from the school children themselves, but that is to be expected and even considered desirable ... morepatina in today's market! The flat side area has been covered in green felt and has two small drawers. Drawers are framed with molding and have decorative wooden pulls and sturdy dovetail joints. Wide turned legs complete the Victorian-era look of the desk. This desk dates from the late 1800's. Overall. The desk is in very good condition. There is a little bit of sagging in the middle of the desk, where the two sides join, which has caused some of the wood to separate. See picture. Antique Wooden Slant Top Desk w/2 Inside Drawers
This antique wooden slant top desk opens up to reveal a storage area divided into compartments in the back. Two of which have drawers in them. The desk measures 33” wide. 23” deep and is 30 1/2” high in the front and 38 1/2” high in the back, including the back panel. It has a keyhole and some metal hardware inside but there is no key and the lid does not latch down. This desk most likely originated in the South. I do not know the age of the piece but would guess late 1800s? The inside compartments and drawers may have been added at a later date. It is not pine or oak but otherwise I am not sure what kind of wood it is made from. The outside has been stained at some point but the inside shows how light-colored the wood was originally. BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE GLOBE WERNICKE OAK ROLL TOP DESK
Up for auction is this hard to find style of GLOBE WERNICKE Roll Top Desk- in beautiful golden oak. This desk is in very nice condition for it's age. Everything works well. Including the lock& key to the roll top. The only issue is one of the small drawers has an old crack on the face- otherwise a really fine old desk. This"lower" style is such a nice piece of furniture- as you can see, it is great looking all the way around and on the inside. It measures 54" wide x 32" deep x 43" tall to the top of the roll. Yes, it has a few minor ink stains which give it that authentic look. It also comes with this heavy slate type blotter if you want. This is quite heavy- approx 125 lbs and the lucky winner will be responsible for making shipping arrangements from our Hillsboro Oregon shop or can pick up in person. Very large and heavy Antique Double-Sided Desk Vintage Western Union Double Desk We have had this in our home for the past 40 years. We acquired it from a construction company which went out of business years ago and they told us it used to be a Western Union desk. It measures 5ft. long x 4-1/2 ft. wide approximately It has 6 drawers on each side and one drawer in the center of each side. One of the drawers on each side can hold numerous file folders as one is deeper than the others. It needs to be restored. The top used to be a soft cover but shows its age and then some! It was repainted(not by us! It is very heavy natural wood. Cannot ship. Local pickup only. We must dispose of this as we have a major construction project coming up in our home and it has to go!
