Rectangular overall form with molded side panels and raised on a four legged. Arched sculptural base. The front doors. Designed with hand leaded glass displaying overall diamond and linear patterns, bear the original bronze door pulls. There are seven adjustable wood shelves plus the bottom of the cabinet which totals ten shelves. The wood has a beautiful antique patina with no nicks or scratches. You won't find any veneer here this beauty is solid wood. A quality made piece well constructed to serve the maker for many years with three brass hinges to hold the lid. This box has all the pluses, check out the stunning heavy brass trims that decorate every edge for strength and beauty. This chest is about as original as you will ever find complete with drawer, trays that lift out for your drill bits and other small hand tools and room for the hand saw inside the lid. The hefty solid brass handles are built into the chest to lay flush until you pull them out to lift the chest. Both locks are present we do not have any keys. A very solid ... morepiece ready to use or display in your room for extra storage. I am not an expert on items we sell just describing what I see when I look at the piece. Use this as a guideline and follow along with the photos I have taken several at different angles to give you a good look at what you are buying. Condition: Some minor dings in the wood from years of use but NOT abuse. These marks are customary with use over 100 years +. The hinges are firmly in place and hold the lid nicely, the drawer has brass pulls and works as it should opening and closing nicely. The inside may need to be wiped down and cleaned a little we are selling it directly from the workshop! All the brass is solid brass and well attached with NO missing pieces. Lid closes great, inner trays move forward and back to select your tools, they are removable. Some tiny dots of paint are present on the drawer and on the lid but a fine piece of steel wool and wax would probably remove these nicely. antique VT country store DYO-LA Dye CABINET Dual tin lithos AS FOUND w/contents
Here's a very rare find being an honest AS FOUND country store DYE display cabinet. Complete with it's 1920's vintage new old stock contents. It's just as it came out of the store here in Northern Vermont. This DYO-LA Dye was made in Burlington VT and came from the Scampy Dane Store in West Charleston Vermont where was on display there, or in storage there, for many decades until the store closed in the mid-1990's. The cabinet is made of solid hardwood and is cherry color and could be cherry wood. The ORIGINAL varnish finish shows some loss on the door stiles and sides but is definitely the original one. It measures about 11" by 16" and is 7.5" deep. This is a rare model having the tin lithograph panels on both the front and back of the cabinet. It sat on the store counter with the door towards the clerk ... moreand the customer could still see the panel on the front. The front panel in in better condition than the back panel. It shows a couple rust spots and limited paint loss. The front panel is about perfect. Both have bright vibrant colors. Inside the door is a big"SPECIAL NOTICE TO DEALER" card. The store this cabinet came from was a genuine time capsule that ran continuously with various owners from the 1890's until the death of Scampy Dane in the mid 1990's. This cabinet was part of that time capsule and it retains is full contents of various dyes. Included are about 24 little boxes of"Sunset Soap Dye" and about 20 envelopes of the original DYO-LA dyes. In a side compartment are the original dealers color cards, samples and advertising emphemera. It's kind of dirty and dusty, just as it came from the store and in storage since. Item up for sale is a very rare bar globe reproduced after the Galician Globe. I have looked all over to find nearly no info on this item. I beleive it is from the 60s but cannot promise that to be true as I am only comparing it to other items I've seen somewhat similar. This globe splits into 2 and exposes a bar to hide all your drinks and cocktail mixes. also a place for ice. most of the globe is made of wood and also part copper surrounding the globe. Petite Hutch At just 26 3/4" high. This wonderful antique hutch is scaled down just perfectly for a doll. It is beautifully constructed with details that one would find in full-size furniture. It is dark wood with a deep. Aged mahogany finish. Some areas seem to have bird's-eye-like grain, but it's hard to tell through the old varnish. I believe this is an English piece that would date to the late 1800s to early 1900s. And may have been made as a salesman's sample. It's a stepback-style hutch with four glass-paned doors that open to shelves inside. There are two drawers in the middle with brass knobs and the doors also have latches and locks. The case contains four well constucted dovetailed drawers; two over two. The drawers all have old cream porcelain glazed circular knobs. The lower two drawers have faux ivory diamond shaped escutcheons. The lower with brass lock fitted. The middle drawer has no lock and the escutcheon is really for display and probably inlaid to give the front of the cabinet symmetry. The cabinet is finished with an overhanging mahogany top. Condition: The cabinet is in good used antique condition. The wood is wax polished. Has developed a good aged patina and has marks relating to age and use. The back RHS foot plinth has been replaced at some point as can be seen in the images of the back and underside of the cabinet. The RHS of the cabinet has an age related crack at the top corner. This does not compromise the function of the cabinet. The glaze on the porcelain knobs has crazed and they have some very minor age related surface marks.
