Early 19th Century Antique French TOILE DE JOUY Bed Valence Cream and Red
I am selling a fabulous antique textile from my own collection that I personally purchased in France. This is an early 19th century bed drape or valence. Measures 63 inches long by 19 inches long at the longest part. Scallopped bottom. I am sure it is a bed drape or skirt piece-as the fabric on the reverse side is not faded-as it would be with a window curtain. It is lovely cream and red/rose linen toile de jouy-with frolicking children and country and farm scenes. All hand stitched and hemmed. There are 4-6 places on top edge near hemming-where there are small holes. This must have been tacked or sewn to the bed-and there was some slight tearing. I find one other 1/2 dime sized hole in the body of the piece. There is some thinning of the fabric in a few other places-but nothing to concern about. It is a good sound piece to use as is. This is a beautiful French and burl walnut paint decorated full-size bed that dates from the 1920s. What a great bed. With a tremendous ... morecurved headboard, almost like a wing-back chair, with carved rosettes, flowers and leaves. The inlaid section has leaves and flowers against the burl walnut. The bottom has some wear marks, but those will be hidden when the box spring and mattress are in place. The molded frame is painted a distressed antique mustard, which you can see in the photos. The overall size on the inside is 55 inches wide, and the curved headboard makes it 90 inches long which leave a space on the head board to fill up with additional pillows, but it will take a regular modern-day full-size mattress and box spring. We can also make this into a queen size bed, measuring 60 x 80, for an additional 350.00. Outside dimensions are 57 inches wide, the footboard is 25 inches high, and the headboard is 55 inches high. The bed itself is gorgeous, with all the burl panels and carvings. On the footboard, we had to replace a bit of the molding, and there is a little hand-painted picture of a flute player, sitting on a rock. I am the manager of an old Astoria. Oregon apartment complex in the historic Uniontown district. In the course of renovation work, in a hidden, sealed attic, we discovered this headboard and footboard set, handmade, marred, full of dust, and I took it out and cleaned it up. There is no way for me to determine its origin, however, a local pundit concluded that its design is Finn, which fits well as this area was traditionally a Finn Workers neighborhood. If I was to redo this piece I would remove the rust from the ... moremetal frame(where the mattress would set) and leave the part that is upright as is. There are two lion heads or gothic type creatures at the bottom of two of the legs. One appears to be broken(missing claw foot) But this does not affect the bed's stability. Folded and standing it measures about 22" by 50" by 42 1/2" When it is a bed the measurements are 75" long 48 1/2" wide and 25 1/4" in height. Antique German Half Doll Boudoir Bed Lamps Dressed In Exquisite Lace A/O Bulbs
Up for purchase from my personal collection is this pair of gorgeous German half doll boudoir lamps that are just fabulous. These lamps were purchased at a Newport. Rhode Island Estate Sale many years ago. They date to the 1920's-1930's and are very unusual. They wear lace skirts that are just unbelievable but fragile. The skirts are long and flowy and measure approx. 14" across. One skirt needs mending as the lace separated but can easily be fixed. The other skirt has a few holes that are not noticeable. The lamps measure 11" tall. The dolls themselves are in perfect condition with grey sculpted hair and gorgeous faces. Under the lace skirts, are pale pink silk slips. Under the slips,are wire baskets with the original bulbs and cords. They each wear a very unusual hat that is made of gauze and pearls. The hatsare not fastened ... moreto the top of their heads and if desired, could be glued down. These lamps display beautifully and would be an addition to any Boudoir Doll or Art Deco Collection. ANTIQUE/VINTAGE circa 1930 SHEETING Shown on a queen size bed in the photographs. It could be used as a bedspread. Tablecloth, or hung(edge has a wide hem and stitched over flap which would accept a rod or cord for hanging) The material used to make this white sheeting seems to be cotton. It measures approximately 86-1/2" by 78-1/2(not quite even. But pretty close) The beautiful floral design is hand embroidered and is centered top to bottom. But not centered left to right(not sure why this is, but maybe it was used on a day bed or something else of an odd size) This textile dates back and has been in my family since about 1930(probably a bit before) It has been decided that it was time for someone else to enjoy and appreciate it! Oferring an unusual. American 19th C. Cast Bronze Hardware with just the remains of the original Gilt. These are 4 Antique Cast Bronze Bolt-Covers for an Antique Poster Bed. Originaly gilded with Gold, but presently just traces of the Gilding remains. The cast detail is great. The condition of the metal is original. The original gilt is still clearly visible on the rear of the bolt covers, but there are very little traces of the gold remaining on the front. Selling in as is condition. Size: 3" long x 2.25" wide. Vtg/Antique Tin PROSPERITY STOVE Electric Light Assembly Part-Bed Reading Lamp
This is a old light assembly made for a Prosperity kitchen cooking stove with original cloth cord and bakelite corp plug end. The cord looks good and the lamp light switch works smoothly. There is some wear to the original exterior paint. A cute light which could be modified with brackets so it could be used on a headboard as a night reading light.
