The paint is flaking(see photos) and there is some surface rust, though this is nothing that will affect the display quality or functionality of the bed itself. At some point in its long history. The brass top bar was lost from the footboard. This again does not affect the stability of the bed. We have assembled it for show on several occasions, and all the parts fit perfectly and without the use of bolts or screws(again see photos) This, combined with the attached metal wheels, makes it easy to move around and store as well. The bed measures 79 inches long and 53 3/4 inches wide. With the actual bed frame coming out at 79 inches long, 54 1/2 inches wide, and 52 inches tall to the bed knob. Our research shows this will work with a full or double mattress, though bidders should be sure of the size of their mattresses before bidding, just to be sure. Hi for sale I have two matching vintage/antique John Widdicomb twin beds. They have a beautiful French country design. They are in reall great vintage shape. The headboards have a painted foloral design. With a thick gold rope going around. I think the big tassles at the end. The beds are clean and smoke free. The rope might be coming apart a little at the seam. See photo#7(really no big deal) each measures: 42" wide x 78" long. And the headboard is 43 3/4" tall at the tallest measure. I live in a house full of vintage beds. And you can make them work with modern mattresses. If you push these two beds together, you could make it a king. A typical king bed measures: 83" long x 52" wide. In my own home, I measured my mattress, I had to pull my two twin beds apart a little. I then placed some plywood down on the sideboards. ... moreI then used my boxspring, then I put down a dust ruffle, and then put the mattress on top. Huge antique white cotton hand made crochet cover about 94" x 74" There have been some repairs which are quite difficult to spot when the cover is spread out(see photos 8 and 9) The last photo shows a square in need of a tiny stitch. Only three tassels are missing. Good quality cotton which will last a great deal longer than it already has! Freshly washed. Quite heavy. Just under 2 kgs.

ANTIQUE BED COVERLET WOVEN IN 1851 BY GERMAN IMMIGRANTS TO OHIO
FOR SALE is a 160+ year old woolen reversible bed covering woven in 1851 by F. Yearous for Jacob Holler in Knox County. Ohio. Both Yearous and Holler were German immigrants to the area. I got the blanket through my grandmother, the daughter of German immigrants, who was born in the 1870’s in Loudenville, Ashland County, Ohio. I do not know how she got it or how she used it. The family has no connection with the weaver or recipient. When my grandmother died the coverlet passed to my mother, who stored it folded in her cedar chest. Mom died and the coverlet came to me. I store it wrapped in 100% white cotton and rolled around a cardboard carpet tube. The blanket measures 81 inches by 72 inches. The colors are red. Blue and white and the pattern is reversible—what is red and blue on one side is white on the other. The bird and flower border ... moresurrounds all four edges of the geometric patterned coverlet. CONDITION ISSUES: The blanket shows damage from age and improper storage. Some of the edges are frayed and there is a tear with a piece torn out. There are some brown stains here and there and some faded areas. There is wear down the center where the blanket was folded. I tried to show condition in the photos. Antique French creamy white cotton bed cover with insert lace squares. Decoration and edging. The centre panel(including insert lace) measures about 49" x 83. The sides measure about 19" From centre insert to outer edge. The shorter(pillow end) measures 8½" Scalloped bobbin lace edging around the hems. A huge bobbin lace centre measuring 7" square and two smaller ones. Pulled thread work leading from the bobbin lace squares and out into the lace edging. There is a large hole on one corner of the cover(photo 11) and on the other long side of the cover are some holes in the insert lace. See the last photo. Some of the bobbin lace has pulled away from the muslin. Easy to repair. One small wine coloured mark and a few rust spots. I have only given a light wash. Rust will come out with rust remover. Antique 1800's Woven Bed Cover Wonderful!
This item is a wonderful woven 1800's bed cover in good condition for a piece of this age. It is 80 inches in length and 72 inches in width. It was woven in two pieces and joined down the middle. It is bordered on both sides and the bottom with 3-3/4 inch heavy fringe.the fringe width is not included in the measurement for the bed cover. At the top of the cover there is a border strip of what appears to be a wool piece of fabric. See Pictures) The picture showing a corner of the cover is the top left and it is showing the top strip and the side fringe. It weighs 7.4 pounds. One picture shows the middle seam. Another picture shows a place at the bottom of the cover where there are two small holes. Another picture shows a beige/tan stain. There may be other minor spots that we have not found) Another picture shows a worn place in the fabric ... moreclose to the middle of the cover and a loose thread. Another shows a place at the bottom of the cover where the fringe has come loose and needs to be reattached. I have not attempted to do any repairs AT ALL on this cover. I inherited this cover from my 99 year old cousin in 2011 and she had previously told me it was made by a family member. She was born in 1912 and had known this relative. Who was much older than herself, so I am fairly certain that this is a valid account of this cover. If I were keeping it I would have it cleaned and I would have it restored by a conservator. For an item this old it is in great condition. The colors are vivid as you can see in the pictures and it is not excessively dirty nor does it have many stains. In places where it has been folded for a long period of time. There is a slight variation in color. If you have questions please contact us. And if you are seriously interested in this cover. The headboard and footboard are intricately covered in mahogany veneer in a diamond pattern. This bed has brass corner moldings and feet as well as brass moldings on the headboard. Footboard and side rails. This bed is in exceptionally nice condition for its age. The bed is made to fit a mattress and box spring that are 74 inches long X 57 inches wide. This is a little wider than your standard ... morefull size mattress however a full size frame will sit down inside the mattress area to hold a full size bed. That is how the previous owner used it and how we have it displayed in our store. However you can also have a custom box spring and mattress made to fit if you should choose. There is a slight separation between the footboard and the post for the side rail on the right side of the footboard; check out the photos below. The side rails are slightly scuffed on the tops from past use. I do not know the maker or exact date this bed was made. This piece is antique and will not be perfect. The headboard measures 38 ½ inches tall, 60 ½ inches side to side and 3¾ inches front to back. It weighs 40 pounds. The footboard measures 31 3/8 inches tall, 62 1/8 inches side to side and 3 1/8 inches front to back. It weighs 32 pounds. The rich lustrous finish is in excellent condition on this furniture, hand crafted in England. The armoire has an original beveled mirror with a little antique"smoke. Large scale floral fabric, one of the most beautiful I have seen. The colors include: deep red( more of a blue red than a tomato red) true red, soft pink, pale lilac, deep lilac, moss green, muted gold, cream and a lovely terracotta ~ it is stunning! ~ This textile has a length of woven trim that runs the width, near the top and bottom of the cover. At the top of the cover, there are 2 inset bolster ends that are also trimmed with the woven trim. These have large metal rings stitched in place inside. This is fabulous. Belongs in a museum. Shown on a twin size. If you love it I'd make it work on a double. Probably never Used. In excellent condition. Simple cotton muslin period piece. Freshly laundered. I examined closely and stitched a few places where the hand stitching came lose on the skirt. I'm a seamstress tailor and this is a real piece of art. The design is all hand stitched.There is a slit at each bottom corner to alow for the bed posts.Beautifully done. spread is 80" wide by 80" long. The skirt is 14" long.top quilt is 62" clean no signs of wear no problems. the real deal This quilt was completed and then the matching skirt was attached.Belongs together tough. ANTIQUE Home Spun Linen Bed Bolster 18thc Museum De-accession An early and rare example of early household bedding linen. This bolster is a museum de-accession and was probably made sometime around 1750. Originally. The bolster was probably made in the early 18th century for a recamier and re-worked sometime later for a four poster bed. The bolster is natural color linen. It has hand stitched seams and hand stitched button holes at the top for a drawstring at one end. The other end is round and has piping around the seam edges. There is a center seam where two large pieces were joined. Likely the joining of two smaller recambier bolsters to form the longer single bolster. The top edge of the single bolster has extremely fine stitches and a loop or magnifying glass has to be used to see them. Stitches have gradations and seem to be hand stitching. ... moreThere is a collection tag stitched to an inside seam. Near the top. Measured flat, the bolster is approximately 16 1/2 inches wide and 63 inches long. Fabric has aged to a dark ivory color. As you might expect. There is some wear with a tear and some staining near the open edge; seam forming the round end has split(can be re-stitched with a very fine needle) Bedding like this won't be made again. Great detail in the inserts and the inserts in nice condition for the age. Few pulls but not bad. The Voile being such a fine delicate material does have some damage and repair as I have tried to photograph in detail. Most of the damage appears to be at the foot area. Simply put.rare, extraordinary and exceptional. One sees crocheted bedcovers of this type rather regularly.and I have on occasion seen knitted ones but I have never seen anything to compare to this amazing coverlet. Entirely hand knit on very small sized needles with the most intricate and most unusual possible pattern. As those of you who both knit and crochet know. Crochet generally goes much more quickly than knitting and is somehow a bit'easier' Knitting generally requires much more focused attention.especially when working a an intricate pattern such as this. This French antique(it likely ... moredates from about 1910-1930) coverlet has been worked in diamond shaped lozenges that have been joined with lacey rows in between. The panels themselves have a motif of the Cicada( the word'Cigale' is the term used in Provence) which is so much a symbol of the Provence area of France. One sees them everywhere there.in pottery and metal versions and now we have found them in knitted form! The time and attention that would have been required to work each panel with one of these amazingly detailed creatures is mind-boggling. Just amazing.this level of excellence of work. Finally the entire piece. On all four sides(which is quite unusual) has been given an open-work knitted and scalloped border Most often the border of these coverlets is on two or at most three sides with the top edge left plain. This knitter has gone the extra mile and made her border go all around her work on all four sides. I am just in awe of this truly magnificent thing. I knit a bit myself so I know the hours. My wife to be and Nicole soon became the best of friends. At that time O.J. was a cool, affable guy who always owned the room. He really was larger than life. In 1980 O.J. and Nicole decided to move their home on Rockingham. I sent a crew to redo his floors. He and Nicole wanted an extravagant bed set for their boudoir. I knew exactly which bed he had to have. I had just acquired a beautiful antique massive heavily carved canopy bed from an 18th C. manor in England. I showed them the set and they instantly fell in love with it.

This beautiful fringed hanging has wonderful embroidery. Including gold thread and multi-colour silk thread depicting flowers, butterflies, fish, people and many other symbolic figures and images, with fine short and long stitch embroidery and extraordinarily fine seed stitching. It is mounted on a pinkish cotton backing and it has a fine 7" fringe and edge netting. There are some black silk embroidered characters with the Xuantong era date. It has sewn red loops on the back of the fringe edge for the suspension of some article(s) and the top has a sewn fold for hanging ... moremuch like a curtain-on-rod. This item is in mostly excellent vintage condition with no tears, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor soiling to the cotton backing and some traces of thumbtacks from previous hangings and slight wear. One of the gold thread sections is pulled for about 1" An uncommon item. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use.
