I found this old bed in a little shop here in south Alabama(near Mobile. On the coast) It is solid and the rails fit well, however, it is a little wobly. This bed was being used by an old family! The size is 53" wide and 77" long. It has the original iron rails(hard to find) This is an original antique iron bed from the true south. Shipping: I have shipped these via Greyhound in the past. I would pack the bed in three separate packages and send it to the Greyhound bus station nearest you. Sometimes. I have been able to put both pieces in one package and send the rails separately. Antique French Full Size Bed Louis XV White Painted and Upholstery Vintage This bed is over here in France. I offer FREE Freight shipping to your door! Lovely sturdy antique/vintage French bed. Upholstered in white fabric with embroidered flowers and with a painted wooden frame. It is a'demi corbeille' bed which has a curved footboard. This listing is for the footboard. Headboard and side rails only(it has brackets on the side rails to hold the divan base in place) There is no divan or slatted base included. The upholstery has been professionally replaced in a heavy quality white(cotton with a satin finish) fabric with flower embroidery in light blue. Light coral and yellow with light green foliage. The fabric is of good quality. And from a designer collection(whose name I cannot remember and am unable to find at the moment) The design ... moreis timeless and would suit either a'country' French inspired bedroom. Or a more upmarket'manoir' style. The fabric is really heavily padded. And stands out well from the wooden frame, then finished off with a nail border rather than a fabric trim. Quality upholstery craftmanship. The inside of the footboard is also up holstered in the same fabric. The wood has been painted white. Which is just very slightly distressed- this is not a shabby chic piece! This is a double. Full, or 4 foot 6 inch bed, and a normal square ended double mattress will fit, leaving a small gap at the bottom where the footboard is curved, which I always use to tuck down the covers into. A memory foam type mattress would fill in this gap as it is easier to squash into the shape; alternatively a custom made mattress with a curved bottom end could be bought. Heavy. Antique Youth Bed c.1930 Appraised Maple Ship Carving Nautical with Sides Childs
Maple youth bed c.1930 via appraiser. This bed has been in my family for 3 generations. Appraised in December 2000 at $1.000. Copy of appraisal can be included if desired. Very good condition considering age however it is in used condition. Some of the top layer of the ship/trim(see close up of headboard) detail on the headboard has chipped off over time. But the design is still clear and attractive because it is just the top thin layer of carving. Bed can be used with or witout the bedrails/sides which go half way down the bed to prevent falling out. Since this is a youth bed it requires larger than a crib mattress but smaller than a twin. We had a new mattress made in 2000. FREE with the bed if you would like it. It is in very good shape with one flaw being a metal rod from inside the mattress is poking out the side. ANTIQUE 1790 PA BABY ROCKING CRADLE PEGGED CHAMFERED DOLL BED HAND CARVED HEARTS
This is a wonderful COLONIAL ANTIQUE 1790'S PINE AND WALNUT BABY CRADLE THAT IS HANDCRAFTED WITH MORTISE AND TENONS. PEGS, AND HAND CARVED CANNON BALLS ON HEAD AND FOOT BOARDS. Fully pegged corner construction with mortised and tendons on the ends of the rockers. There are two on each rocker but I did not show the entire rocker and you can only see one on each end. Still retains the Rare Brass Rope Studs. One might have been replaced as it is larger. All the panels are chamfered on inside and out. Really nice contruction. The cradle is extremely sturdy. This cradle is a true work of art from the carved hearts on the head and footboards to the excellent construction. It is easy to visualize a mother rocking her baby over 200 years ago in this cradle. This would be a family heirloom to pass on to future generations or a perfect display ... morefor that special doll or bear. There is a similar walnut cradle like this one in Winterthur's Kirchner Parlor. Historical Note; Colonial Babies were tied-down in these cradles. As an act of protective necessity. Mothers would Rock the Baby to sleep with a foot against one of the protruding Rocker Rails, then continue their household work knowing that the baby would not be roaming around when awakened. Condition: The cradle is made of pine and walnut. I believe. It is used with wear on the inside chamfered panels and the ball finials show wear. The pegs on the inside holding the mattress supports have been replaced with hand made screws(they are off center so you know that they are old screws) One of the brass rope supports is broken and needs to be secured better. One of the brass rope support matches the other but is a bit larger than the others. There is a age crack in the very vertical walnut support. it does in no way hamper the use of the cradle but it is there. It might just be a dry crack. Please, see photo. This is a beautiful bench that was made from an antique rope bed. Look up the history of the rope bed its interesting. The bench is 36" tall x 42" wide x 19 1/2" deep. It has a custom made cushion. It has some dings and scratches showing its age. It also has some other character details. see pic# 5. The back posts have matching wear on the top points almost like it was planned. The last pic shows the bench under the cushion. The cushion has a zipper on it. I have the zipper facing forward in the pics just to show that it is there. Antique 1905 Iron and Brass Double Bed
This beautiful ornate iron. Brass, silver-toned metal and oak double bed was in the home of the eminent and much-loved doctor, Giles Lucas, and his wife, Lucy Jane, when his daughter, who they also named Lucy Jane, was born in 1906 in Van Buren, Arkansas. It stayed in the mansion until 1970, when it was shipped to the home of Lucy Jane Cannon in Florida. The humid environment in Florida over the years caused the paint to peal, and concerns about health issues connected with lead paint led to the decision to remove all the loose paint. The present owners have removed some of the layer of lacquer which obscured the luster of the brass. The iron has had all the loose paint removed, as have the silver-colored metal ornaments at the intersection points. All four casters are in place. The bed is still in great shape, and is beautiful. A dresser, or an armoire. It has a mortise and tenon construction, and I believe it dates back to the 1870s or before. It would make a perfect wall shelf bottom. It is carved from one solid piece of wood with the exception of the two long pieces of wood on the back. It measures 50-1/4” long(44-7/8” without tenons) 10-7/8” high, and 1-1/2” thick(the solid board measures 7/8” thick. It’s a great piece for a project. Or just as a wall hanger. Another item uncovered from my grandparent's old family homestead it this antique/vintage female uniral or bed pan. The trunk I recovered came from my grandparent's first homestead when they came here from Poland. It is a ceramic/pottery/porcelain female urinal or bed pan that at one time must have been painted an ivory/cream color. There has since been some chipping off of the paint and those areas show a regular white color urinal. With some TLC I know it can be restored to its original condition. It is marked on the bottom New Jersey China Pottery Co. Measures 10 1/2" long by 6" tall and 4 1/2" by 2" at the opening. There are no cracks or chips or dings. Details: An antique c.1840-1870 handmade solid walnut rope bed. The bed has been converted from being a rope bed. Holes plugged, and fitted with newer solid wood rails to accommodate a full-size mattress set. The headboard and footboard are identical in size and style. Each one is made using two walnut panels, topped by a rolling pin crest, flanked by low, solid posts that feature mushroom-cap finials. The finish is original. Showing age appropriate patina, more so to the footboard where the finish is lighter along the top due to blankets being hung over it for many years. The overall condition is very good, only issues to report are minor scuffs and an old split in one wood panel on the footboard, wood contracting? The split does not affect the stability of the bed at all, and I mention it only for accuracy. Antique American Acorn Bed - Twin Size - c1940
This lovely antique twin bed was crafted around 1940. Although I know it to be American. Its specific origin is unknown to me. I purchased it at a local antique dealer for $300 and have since touched up a number of scuffs and some wear to the finish, so it is in better condition than when I found it. This bed is quite attractive, with distinctive"acorn" style posts, but it has sustained some superficial wear, including a number of scuffs and, on one side of the support, some wear to the finish that clearly occurred during a restoration that was carried out prior to my ownership. Overall condition is therefore very good but not without flaw. Even so, the wear that this bed has sustained is very typical for a piece of its age; it's really a gorgeous bed. I am willing to deliver this piece inside the Atlanta area for no extra charge; ... moredelivery will be no more than 7 days after purchase and will occur 7:30-9pm, as I work during the day.
