I am usually not a doll seller but I felt these were going to be thrown away and I was drawn to them so if anyone needs extra pictures or questions please ask. 2 Carved Wooden Mother& Daughter Dolls from unknown origin- maybe from Germany such as from the Groden Valley. Grodner Tal or South Tyrol. These interesting and wonderful jointed wooden dolls are hard to find but show their age. The doll with original dress measures 7 1/4 inches tall and has blue eyes and black hair. The dress seems to be of muslim. Cotton and hand lace/crochet. There is a metallic like string around her waist. She is missing the bottom of left arm and missing her green shoe on right side. The left bottom leg is unattached but complete. The exquisite head and body is hand carved and painted but shows cracks and paint loss throughout. The dress appears original to the doll but I have not tried to take it off because I do not want to do any further damage. The second doll seems to be a match to other doll but a smaller/younger version.
